Folks,

I've got a trip coming up and I thought I would pass on (for those of you who haven't done it this way yet) the latest and greatest way to make loop requests for your campsites at the Fort.

When I started going regularly to the Fort, there was a fax number to send in your request (for those of you who are old enough to remember a fax machine). ;)

Then a few years later, instead of having to write a letter and fax a copy the Disney Reservation Cast Member could take a request and note it in your reservation.

Concurrently, about 10 days before arrival you would receive an email from Disney offering "early check-in" which among other things let you pick one option for a loop number, by a Comfort Station, or something else.

Now that My Disney Experience (MDE) has been around for a year, MDE incorporates this feature and appears to have it pretty well covered. When you use MDE and link your Fort campsite reservation number, you are ready to go. About 60 days before arrival, you will see a link appear "Online Early Check-in Available" out to the right of your first day shown in MDE (every day is listed). :surfweb:

Among the things you can do is specify your estimated arrival time on your first day and estimated departure time on your last day, add a credit card to your account for charging privileges if you wish (dangerous with the Magic Bands - too easy to spend money), confirm your address and contact info, and make your loop requests.

Why should you do early check-in? It makes the actual arrival at the Fort much quicker and easier. You basically pay any outstanding monies, take your prepared info packet, and head for your site. I prefer doing this.

This is what the MDE screen options look like for choosing the Loop Requests option. Note you can select up to two:

One interesting thing I noted. For this screen grab I populated the check-in/out times as 1pm and 11am. But when I went to actually enter an earlier check-in time, an additional dialog box came up below the "Woods View" bubble that asked if my pre-assigned site wasn't ready when I arrived, would I accept one that was. However, I might lose my requests (get one now but not near a Comfort Station or in a particular loop as I requested). So the choice is mine.

Finally, the app asked me to load my cell phone number so that I could receive a text (in the event my site wasn't ready) that they could send you the info via text and you could drive right down to it. This has happened to me in the past (pre-MDE) when I drove up to the Fort and my site (requested 1500) wasn't ready. I had done the pre-checkin and got my packet, paid up, all I didn't get was my site number. I gave the CM my cell number, went to lunch, and got a text with the site number during lunch and we drove right to it. Now all of that information is pre-gathered, automated, and authorized.

This looks like it might become my preferred and recommended way to do loop requests. It does help to know what loops are what types of sites (Preferred are 100-300, Full 1600-1900, Tent/Partial 1500 & 2000, Premium 400-1400) based on the type of site you reserved. But I hope it works for me coming up. Fingers crossed. :rolleyes1

This is fanfreakingtastic! We are just shy of 60 days out so I will be watching out for this.

Any recommendation on tent loops? We are wanting something low key, away from the front of the loop and comfort station. Prefer back, quiet, by a canal, something with a privacy fence (i kid). We have 2 16X18 tents.

Sounds like 2000 is for you.

sounds like a great way to go. will get to try it out in less than 60 days. yippee !!

That is what I was thinking after searching some old threads but after a few more google/you tube searches on 1500 & 2000 loops I think 1500 will fit us better. 2000 seems really open and exposed and we prefer as much foliage and privacy as possible.

Used this a few weeks ago for our cabin. We were limited in our loop choices as we had already requested an accessible cabin, but we got the Loop I put in for, 2800. As for check in, I put in 2 hours before I was due to be safe and make sure the room was ready, thought I figured arriving at 9p we would be safe. Check in was very quick

I was half paying attention but at check in a mother and teenage son were checking in beside us and the topic of charging to the MB came up. Of course the mom said just allow it on her and DH's MB. The boy said he wanted to be able to charge to his, mom said no etc, the son was making a great case saying he was now older etc. In the end it sounded like they can limit charge amount's to certain MB's.

In the 1500 loop with two tents of that size you may have to put one in the grass off the pad. I am in site 2016 now with a 18 x 17 and can put another the same size or a couple smaller ones on the pad. 2000 is a big loop and your not right on top of one another. There are 2 comfort stations in this loop, one in the middle of the loop and the other is up at the front behind the bus stop.

I am wrong on our tent size. It is 11 or 12 x 17. I had to go look at the tent packaging and double check. It is really important to us ( well me) that we have good amount of foliage around us for privacy. I know no site is private but it seems after watching the you tube loop videos and comparing 1500 to 2000 the 1500 seems to have more foliage. I found an old thread with measurements of tent pads and several look accommodating. Three are 35 and up on the long side and 20 wide (according to the post). You are there live in person so maybe I have the info mistaken and should just submit for 2000. We are bringing our golf cart so not worried about being away from the hub. We are just shy of 60 days out and I'm starting to go Disney planning crazy and not in a good fun way. We are coming down jan 17 - jan 31, coming in on a Saturday and I should have had us coming in mid week to avoid the weekend rush. I have secured a second reservation for the 15th but the 16th is booked solid :( so I stalk the My Disney Experience site for openings like 10 times a day hoping something will open up allowing us to just merge the 15 - 31. I am not a happy camper trying to plan fast passes either. All this obsessive planning is sucking the fun out of it. I wish fast passes would just go back to the run and grab it style. Once we get there and set up all these pesky details will fade away..... Hope you had a magical day at the fort and can't wait for your update :)

Tomorrow I will go around and take some pics in both loops and some of the pads. I requested the 1500, but came in on a busy weekend, that may be why I didn't get it.

Why does it say pet loop? Are only certain areas where you can bring your pet? I have 2 small dogs we were planning first time trip to Wilderness campground. Haven't been to a Disney resort in a few years, hopefully I can get some kind of deal bc $140 a night is ridiculous for a campsite! I paid less than that when we used to go to the moderates just about 4 or 5 yrs back. I have a small camper van, don't need a large site but was hoping for something nice since haven't been in awhile. I can go into the Sheraton with my pets for free on points so hoping for at least some kind of deal.

Yes, there are loops that are set aside as 'pet loops' which charge $5 per night extra when you bring a pet, then there are non-pet loops.

As for the $$$'s charged for sites per night!! Location, location, location! ;)

FW is 'Prime'!! You can go off site and get 'everything' cheaper, but it isn't as convenient and it's not 'Disney'. It's all in what you are willing to pay for! :)

Not much in the way of 'deals' anymore - the demand is too great! Depending on the time of year, the prices do vary, so not always 'holiday' pricing.

Can you tell me what would be the best location in premium for pets with a 33 ft travel trailer that has a slide out on each side. My dogs do have bark collars but I would prefer for them to be in a less busy area if possible. How far is the dog park from the premium sites? Oh and also not to hard to back into since we will have only camp twice before we get there. Thanks for the help

There are deals going on in every disney resort time I'm going except campground. In fact was told there are rarely any deals at the campground unfortunately. Not going to let it stop me tho may go less days onsite.

Sorry that it took so long for pics of the different loops.

If you want something with privacy, i would say the 1500 loop is for you. There is just one catch, especially if you are bringing multiple tents:

Notice the water and electrical post in the usable space. and the grill is way in the back.

Here is another with the same problem.

And finally this one with the power, water, and a tree.

The 1500 loop has 21 sites that are not right on top of each other, but if you want privacy, at check in I would see if sight 1505, or 1521 are available.

The only other problem with the 1500 loop is the pads are all different shapes and sizes. No bump out like the 2000 loop for the table.

The following pics are some in the 2000 loop.

The sites are bigger, and all are about the same shape. If you get the 2000 loop, try to stay away from the 2040 site, it is very unlevel. There are 69 sites in the 2000 loop, and none really have any privacy. Don't get me wrong, there is some privacy, just not a lot.

Good luck, Snowmedic

Wow! Thank you so much for taking photos and sharing them ;) will do on the recommended sites.

While the sites do look smaller the privacy around them is what draws me in the most. We haven't used the tents expect to set up in the back yard and figure out what layout will work best. We are hoping to arrange then L shaped so technically we only really need 28x28 of usable space.

With your much appreciated photos and advice and Bama Eds drawing with measurements we feel very hopeful of getting something that will work well.

I'm starting to get worried that I went overboard with this trip. 17 days in a tent.....oh dear..... I haven't camped in a tent since I was a a teenager and drinking...Same for hubby. I don't count the RV as that just isn't the same as tents. But we are capable adults and prepared all the way around.

I will chase kids and adults off my site if they walk through it! How completely rude! Maybe that is just the way those 2000 loopers behave. Tisk! Tisk!

Thanks again :)

42 days until I can check in online with the MDE, see how it goes.

Thanks to this thread, I just did my online check in!!!! Just counting down the days now!!
