Has anyone rented a cabana on CC only to have it be a rainy day? Can you cancel in advance if rain is predicted or sit in a 500.00 cabana & watch it rain?

This happened during my last cruise (Dream in June) We got a SB cabana and it was nice for about 80% of the day. (It was mostly overcast--then after lunch it decided to downpour) I was happy we had a cabana so we had somewhere to put our stuff, and the sound on the tin roof was so relaxing my family and I ended up taking a nap. That was amazing...soft rain and ocean waves...we only napped till the rain was done (maybe 1.5hrs) but it really energized us.

Are you looking at an advanced forecast? Cause "rain" at CC doesn't necessarily mean a washout. I'm from FL and I know how these ""storms"" could be. Also, like I said above the cabana was a great place to store stuff (especially since it comes with a safe) and if its just rain, it's the beach and you'll prolly be wet already---so just leave your stuff in the cabana and enjoy the beach (just my opinion) :)

Now thats turning lemons into lemonade!

We did not rent a Cabana, but we cruised on the Fantasy for the Memorial Day week. On our Castaway day it RAINED!! all day. We went to the adult beach early in the day and all the Cabanas were empty and they has all been booked prior to the cruise. I don't know if they got a refund.

Here is what I don't get. If it's just raining AND you were going to be in the water anyway - what's the problem???? :Confused3: The rain on CC (Florida, Bahamas, Caribbean etc.) is usually WAY warmer than the showers I take every day at home.

A little rain won't be stopping me from enjoying the day on CC.

What will stop me from enjoying the day is ..
Lightning
Rain and high winds - wind chill can still get to you there

Yea, I think that's my "can't enjoy CC day list" - pretty short.

I was refering to the all day down pours, Really. I already know if I'm at the beach chances are I'll be wet. I've seen CC on the bad days too, and was wondering what people did with a cabana in that. I know what to do with an afternoon shower. :thumbsup2

I thought cabanas fall under the same cancellation policy as port excursions -- must be cancelled 3 days prior to cruising (not necessarily 3 days prior to the port day). DCL will refund if it is decided to cancel the port stop, but if you just don't want to go out in the weather you'll still be charged. But I don't have first-hand experience with a cabana rental on a rainy day...maybe someone else can confirm.

We were on that exact cruise and were one of the families that had a cabana. I actually had good information a day or two before arrival that it was very likely to rain most of the day. I asked our concierge about their policy. He actually was able to get somebody to use our cabana if we opted out of it. We decided to keep it nonetheless. So, yes, you could get a "refund" if you are able to transfer the cabana reservation to somebody else. But, no, you are not going to get a "refund" if you have the cabana and it rains all day!

We did enjoy most of the morning but by 10:30 or so, the rain came and did not stop until maybe 2:30.

Since someone asked, rain is problematic when it is cold. Although we were at Castaway Cay in May/June, the rain coming down was simply cold. It was not pleasant at all to be in it.
