The holy land, the happy place… WDW. Whatever you call it, it has been calling me. Rather loudly. :rolleyes1 Hello, I am a Disney World addict and it has been 173 days since I last set foot on property. And it will be another 109 days until I am again. Sigh.

At first I was thinking that I’d explain why I feel this way about WDW- the escape from reality, feeling like a kid again, the great food, great service, tons of fun – but then I realized that if you’re reading this then you already “get it.” And it is so nice to know people who get it. ::yes::

So let’s see. What do you need to know about me? I’m 30-ahem-something. Not married- which is shocking. Seriously once you get to know me you’ll wonder how can someone this great not be taken? :lmao:

Regular WDW visitor with the family as a kid and tons of great memories. Which I’m sure contributes to the obsession today. Took a significant Disney sabbatical for ~15 years from college to 2006. I think I thought I’d outgrown Disney, if you can believe that. But then I was having a hard time, had been jonesing for a Disney visit and had a reason to go (a cousin’s high school band was performing there) and viola the rest is history. Through the course of planning for the first visit in so long I discovered the various websites and podcasts and basically I haven’t looked back.

I hate pictures of myself. Seriously hate them. But I recognize as a TR reader that no pictures = not as much fun.

Ahh… Epcot. I had no idea at the time but it would become my very favorite place in the World.

December 2008 at Osborne Lights. I’m on the left in the blue fleece. The blue fleece I barely took off the entire trip b/c it was SO cold!

This trip is going to be a little different. Yes, I am leaving my home as a solo traveler but over the course of the trip I will be meeting up with at least four of my favorite DIS’ers and I hope several more. Who will I be meeting, you ask? Well before I tell you, we should go back for a minute.

Picture it, December 2008. I have decided not to purchase DVC and am lamenting my imminent departure from WDW. When what to my wondering eyes does appear but a bounceback offer.

Picture – I find it helps to provide one when I ask you to “picture it.” ;)

I loved the Food and Wine festival in October 2008. It was my first experience with it and I had the best time. Now I should tell you that I am hardly a gourmet, have a very unsophisticated palate, and am not a particularly adventurous eater. I do love me some wine, margaritas and grand marnier slushies, however. :rolleyes1

As previously confessed, I am a Disney addict so I have read a lot about the F&W festival. And I’m aware that many feel like the festival has gone downhill with fewer special events, “big names,” exotic food etc. Well, I didn’t notice.

So back to bounceback. I knew I had to come back for F&W. And knew I’d have to stay at Beach Club. You cannot beat access to the International Gateway at F&W time! So I did book for a week. I’d originally booked for only 4-5 days and the operator was very helpful and said “you know, this is a very popular time and it’s always easier to delete dates than to add them. And since you’re booking room only you have practically up to the last minute to make your decision.” Well, color me decided. I booked a whole week.

Then, not sure how this happened but oh so very glad it did, my DIS friends Paula (Iluvcrush) and Jen (JenJolt) decided that they too would visit that week. :yay:

Not too terribly long after that, my friend Heather (Circusgirl) who I’d had the pleasure of meeting on my December trip emailed to say “hey, did you hear there’s another special event?” Well that is just music to my ears. Heather and I had the privilege to participate in the DIS Unplugged’s private Toy Story Mania party in December ’08 and had the best time. This latest event is sponsored by Lou Mongello of the WDW Radio Show (another favorite) and takes place at the Adventurer’s Club. And was scheduled for 2 days before my bounceback reservation. Yup, you guessed it – extended the trip by 2 days and am now up to a 10 day trip!

So currently, my dates are Thursday 9/24 through Saturday 10/3. The Adventurer’s Club event is the first night. I hope to make Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at least once and maybe twice. Jen will be celebrating a birthday while we’re there and I think we’ve agreed upon California Grill for her birthday dinner. And that’s about all I have planned! My ADR window opens on June 26th.

I’m looking forward to counting down and planning with all of you!
    Thanks for reading! :upsidedow

Okay, I need more details. Where are you eating and are you wearing a costume to MNSSHP? :yay:

Yeah! You are first! Wish I had something more to offer you than the dubious honor! Thanks for climbing aboard. I hope to make it interesting! :)

So excited to have you here! I am definitely excited for the trip as well. The ADR window opens in ~18 days so it is feeling more real. I have some ideas about where to meet but need lots of input. Which is part of the reason for getting this PTR started! :woohoo:

Not sure about a costume for MNSSHP. I can do a custom t-shirt but not sure about a full on costume. Comfort is key!

:welcome: Happy to have you joining the party! I am definitely getting excited about the trip. It is getting more real as the ADR window approaches. Too many restaurants and too few meals! :lmao:

You are on the first page! :flower3: Lucky you on the ADR window. You'll have to let me know how it goes. I've heard mixed reviews. Isn't the online ADR tool supposed to open soon? :confused3

I'm excited about the Adventurer's Club event but have to admit that I've never been there so the inside jokes are lost on me. :sad2: But I still aim to make the most of it! ::yes:: I figure any gathering of Disney geeks is sure to be a good time!

I can't wait to see you guys either and have some more time to chat!

Yay for page 1!! Yes, I am quite excited about the various DIS meets. I really can't wait. I've made so many great friends on the DIS and what is better than to be able to meet up in the World? I think it'll be the perfect blend of solo and group time. I can go off on my own if I need "me" time and have my own space back at the hotel but then have plenty of friends and activities I can join in!
Woo Hoo indeed! No jinxing! Feel free to satisfy your PTR urges here- post whatever you like - your itinerary or anything else. I know you and Jen are planning at least one thing I wasn't planning on doing. :rolleyes1

I'm so happy to have you here! And even happier that our dates overlap. We'll have to compare schedules. I'll certainly be looking for the Peter Pan family at MNSSHP!

Wow 10 days I am super jealous. DH would never go for 10 days. He says he loves to go, but loves to come home. I just want to go and stay. I once found a nursing job for WDW and tried to convince him I really needed to apply.

Cant wait to hear all the details.

I'd really love to meet you! I know you said you plan on going once, maybe twice to MNSSHP. (GO TWICE, GO TWICE!!! ;))

We'll probably be at the one on Thursday, Oct. 1, just so you know. And we're still running with that Peter Pan theme. I'll have to PM you as it gets closer and maybe we can nail down a meet.

I'm going to be lurking but wanted you to know I was here ... :goodvibes

Sad that you won't be at F&W during our dates ... would have been fun to meet up and share a drink (or ten). And you look mah-velous ... share more pictures! :goodvibes

Is it OK for me to "pimp" your TR on the bendy thread? I think many people there will enjoy this. :thumbsup2

I noticed your post on my DD's food report (PrincessCaitlin) and thought I'd check out your ptr! 10 days at the Beach Club! I'm so jealous! We were at WDW last month (stayed at POFQ but fell in love with BC!) and DH and I are taking a quickie trip to the F&WF in Sept. Our mini trip overlaps yours! Looking forward to hearing all about your plans!

Hi C! I am dying to continue my PTR. I am also completely convinced that it's a jinx. What should I do?! ?!

Why are you home sick today? Hope you feel better soon!
