Borrowing Question

THis is kind of complicated but here goes. Say I'm making a reservation in December 2003 to travel in July, 2004 using points that I will receive June 1, 2004. WHen I make the reservation, do I technically have to borrow these points? Also, should I need to cancel the reservation, what use year are they restored back to (that is if they are borrowed)? Thanks for your help!!

Those would not be borrowed as the trip starts on or after the use year date

Since they would not be borrowed, returned to same use year
