which is the better deal?
You cannot depend on a KSF or *GT rate being offered for the cruise you want. If you are limited to when you can cruise, book onboard for the discount. If you are flexible, then wait for a KSF to show up on one of the ships.
Depends how many kids you have...if you have 3 kids and willing to all stay in 1 stateroom, a Kids Sail Free deal is like a bigger savings than the 10% discount and OBC. However, as PP mentions, no guarantee a KSF will be offered.
We booked on board last cruise and when the KSF became available, I called DCL and asked which was better. They compared rates for me and we discovered KSF was better (even though I lost my onward credit) so they switched it. I still got priority boarding for booking early and got the better deal. I say always book while on board!
