Boardwalk Villas decor

Given that the Inn rooms seem to be a winner, why didn't DVC just borrow that design and put it into the Villas?

The Inn rooms are designed to make you want to book your next vacation there.

DVC rooms don't need that special touch, DVC owners will always be back. Disney only spends time, energy, money where they need to.

Buy keeping the refurb cost down, dues money can be spent on other DVC budget items which may keep dues increases lower.

I think the look is fine. Personally I don't like the Inn decor and the look of the beds. I don't ever recall a hotel decor style impacting my vacation negatively. if I can still see the pool or the boardwalk from the balcony I'm good.

I agree, it's not a big deal to me. Functionality is more important.

It is really funny how people are different? I for one do care how the room feels, it is one of the reasons I would never stay at BLT. Also have stayed in Boardwalk and pool rooms and do not like that, prefer village green or just green/landscape so we are all different. And I am not trying to be rude or combative but what do you mean by functionality? in a hotel room. I guess that is good that DVC now has so many choices now. BWV is one of my homes so that is why it is so upsetting. When you are staying in a room for 3 weeks in Oct/Nov you kinda want to feel comfy.

What I mean by functionality:

Studios have a microwave and toaster. Regular rooms do not. That is more important to me than décor.

BLT - if I'm there with 2 friends, the living area is cramped. They could do whatever they want with décor, it's still cramped.

VGF - we stayed there in May. Having the 2 showers and the murphy bed was nice. More important than décor.

Maybe because my house theme is contemporary, I don't see the need to have a fancy décor like the Boardwalk Inn to be comfortable. I certainly would not sell my DVC because of décor and spend a lot of money on a cash room.

I wonder if they will squeeze a murphy bed in the BLT studios. Moreover, AKV has limited closet space and I would hate to lose the free-standing cabinet.

There's no way they could fit the murphy bed in at BLT. There's barely enough room to walk now. I don't understand the theory behind adding the murphy beds at existing resorts. You would think they would want people to buy more points to stay in a 1 bedroom. It's strange that a studio sleeps more than a 1 bedroom at some resorts.

I did not understand that the BWV refurb was going to do any change of significance except for the studios changing to the desk/murphy bed/TV bolted to wall and adding the table in front of the couch. Most everything else is supposed to be a refurb of what is already there. They cannot do the sleeper chair in the living rooms of the 1BRs like at BLT or AKL because there is not enough room, including because the dorrway between the rooms inside the lock-offs are in the living room.

The decor of BWI has always been different from and more expensive looking than BWV. Also, the BWV theme as rooms on an early 1900's boardwalk, has been referred to as "outdated' by many ever since the place opened in 1996.

I'm busy looking for a house rental for early next year.

Funny you should mention décor. After I decided on location, the most important thing right now is décor!
I don't want a dark place - I want light and tropical feeling.

So, décor could impact my vacation. I leave the frozen North for a couple of weeks in January and February, looking for light and warmth.

Increasing the number of resorts where you can squeeze five people into a studio might help with sales. Until GFV, a family of five couldn't legally stay in a studio and some might have been priced out if they had to buy enough points for a 1BR, or simply chosen not to buy if they had to stay in a 1BR. Now DVC guides can tell that group of potential buyers that not only do new resorts sleep five in a studio, but they are modifying studios at existing resorts to sleep five as well. Just look at all the places your family can stay in an inexpensive studio room!

Same here. DH and I enjoy themed hotels. That is what attracted us to staying on property in the first place and one of the primary reasons we purchased DVC. We relax on our stays and spend a lot of time at the resort. The decor matters a lot to us, as does the comfort of the room. What they are doing to the studios at BWV is depressing. I prefer to unpack on our stays so removing the dresser is a problem. And the camper-style table bolted to the front of the Murphy bed is just not in keeping with what I bought.

We stayed in a standard studio for princess half marathon weekend. Fifth floor room. It was refurbished. That entire wing was refurbished. We were in room 5073. There is hardwood/laminate in the entryway and kitchenette area and the rest is a light color carpeting.

The fold done bed is small and has the table attached to it.

That is the bureau. It is the only storage for clothes other than the closet. There were only two of us in the room.....and so it was enough storage. However, you have to open the shutters first....so the drawers are pretty small.

It's nice but why make it so complicated and reduce the storage space? Why not just put in a regular bureau with drawers. It makes me wonder what the people who choose the furnishings are thinking.

Plus, by having the drawers behind those shutters, it's just going to result in damage to the shutters when people don't open them quite far enough and then pull open a drawer. Especially the right hand shutter since you have the wall right there.

One of the CMs told us that this wing was the first to be worked on.

I didn't take a picture of the carpeting in the hallway but it was plainer than the carpeting that I loved so much! Everything smelled brand new.

The kitchenette backsplash was new. The bathroom tilework was not.

To give an idea on bed size, my friend is about 5'2" and she fit comfortably. I would say that a small adult would fit fine.....but it is not a full size twin bed.

I hope that the folks who need more sleeping options like this setup. I am glad we always stay in 1 bedrooms because I really don't care for this setup much. It looks like there is enough room for a full size chest of drawers. I can't imagine why they decided on such a small storage chest.

Did they put a coffee table in front of the couch? That was one thing I always missed in a BWV studio. Another example of functionality.

That table under the TV doesn't make sense, who sits that close to the TV? Looks like they duplicated what they did at VWL.

I like the wall color.
