We've stayed at the Poly the past 4 years, but the construction for the room refurbs this past Feb made my husband less than thrilled so we're looking to try other resorts. We're going to try the BC this Dec for our first xmas visit, but are unsure where to book for our Feb trip. My husband loves the Boardwalk Inn (we've only visited while at Flying Fish), but my son loves playing on the resort beaches in the sand. Does BWI have any sand areas that I've missed? Or if we stay at BWI could my son walk over and play at the beach at BC or YC? (I know SAB is for resort guests only but is the beach too?) Thanks for any info!

I stay at BWV and often go over to the beach at BC/YC to sit on the swings. So, yes, there's no reason you can't do that. (And, no, I don't believe there are any sand areas at Boardwalk.)

Nope you'll have no trouble using the beach at BC! As you said, you need wristbands to get into SAB but the beach is right off the main walking path that leads from BW to BC, doesn't matter where you are staying, you can enjoy it!

Your son might like visiting the Community Hall - you'll find it next to the leisure pool on the Villas side of the resort. They have activities, arts & crafts and some video games that he might enjoy. Quite a few of them are free to BWI/BWV guests. Check it out. Maybe the sand won't be so important, LOL.

Be sure not to go into the water. Someone I know had a family member run out into the water at the Contemporary to retrieve an item that blew away and ended up in the hospital with a nasty leg infection.

Thank you so much for all of the responses! This definitely makes me feel good about picking BWI for our next trip. It sounds like there's enough to do there that will keep all of us happy :) thanks again.
