Big Apple, Boardwalk, and Beach - Bullies and Wrap-up (The End!) (pg 44)

Great start to the report!

I like the evolution of the destination choice. We are currently in the discussion phase for our summer family trip, the last one before Nate is in college. The boys are both ganging up on us and pushing for Europe for a tour of historical sites, mostly connected to WWII. My DH and I would prefer a trip to a tropical beach.

Now, having two teenagers of my own, I am able read "teenager", but I was surprised (and pleased) to see Marlene's descriptions using vowels and actual punctuation in her description!

Love the instagram shots, too!

Nicely done, Marlene!

Our first cab ride. I was hoping for the Cash Cab.

Great show!

I didn't know the FAO was closing. Glad you got a chance to visit. Fantastic pictures with the BIG piano and the Muppet Making shop is really cool.

What a difference between this play-it-by-ear trip (I guess that makes sense with the music major) and the previous trip with more of a planned itinerary. Looks like you saw some interesting sights- the beautiful shop with the piano and Julliard of course.

Mmmmmm for the snack at the bakery. Thanks for the food porn!

:goodvibes:

Looks like your tribute visit to the Dakota and Strawberry Fields was yet another stop with some musical overtones.

That was some eagle eyes :magnify: spotting that mama hawk and chick. Awesome pictures!

Clean and comfortable room- that should work.

:thumbsup2

I totally approve of your purchase of a new camera with a special food porn feature!

Or at least participated in a focus group or something.

:rotfl:

A focus group for camera development!

Wow! The meal at Bengal Tiger looks great. Bonus that it was relatively inexpensive, too? Was it crowded?

Unfortunately, the only musical connection I can come up with is "Eye of the Tiger" and that scares me. Maybe some Bollywood?

Times Square looks awesome! For a short visit. I think the crowds, sights and sounds would get old quick.

::yes::

Be back in a bit to check out the gardens.

:goodvibes:

Glenn,

Thanks for the welcome back. May be able to be around a bit more....not sure. I will head over to Rosie's PTR now...

Uh....update? Just saying :)

Okay...I have no idea what I'm doing anymore with all this new fangled technology on the DIS...I just want to say I'm enjoying reading your report!

Hey Jordan! Nice to "see" you pop in.! I can't figure this out here . I keep getting my posts on the wrong page and I don't know why, or I post and it doesn't show up at all.

Now after the excitement of seeing Jordans name I have to reply to your Conservatory / Botanical Gardens update . Your pix were great , I see why you paid the xtra . That women was odd, unless this is a New York thing:rolleyes::rotfl2:

Or she could have been British...J/K I have to get over to your TR I never see the updates in my list :confused3

Love, love, LOVE me some botanical garden walks! I adore bromeliads especially, but orchids are pretty nice too! You guys found some really awesome stuff to do in NYC for sure.

The gardens look beautiful. They took some great shots. What did you do while the ladies were out?

Yes, it could've been a lot worse I suppose. I wonder if goofyfan is still afloat.

He is - No damage in his neck of the woods either. Both just really busy with work and his youngest College Cross Country schedule. Which is odd since most of his meets are in NC even though he goes to school in SC. :rotfl2:

The gardens look beautiful. GLad they had a nice time, even if the woman they encountered was a bit strange. Looking forward to more!

Yeah, I'm glad they liked it too and got to hit something that was on Marlene's list.

Hmmm.... lost my multi quote. And I'm lazy.

Doncha hate that? Well, at least I've still got my multi-reply workin'.

So... I'm glad to see that you felt the need to cut off Marlene to clarify the geography lesson about a part of a trip that you didn't even attend. :rolleyes1:rotfl2:

The update barely got underway, didn't it?

The botanical gardens looks lovely. If you're into that sort of thing. Which apparently Marlene and Judy are.

Apparently so, and apparently they approved!

I can't believe the random lady asking for food. Then again, it doesn't really surprise me much when I think about it. I could totally see my wife's aunt doing something like that.

I know what you mean. It seems surprising, but we probably all know a person or two who could be capable of it!

I only have a few minutes to pop in, but I'm glad the ladies enjoyed the garden. I'm sure you're glad you didn't have to enjoy it with them!

I just popped in now. I'm a big pop-in guy.

If I hadn't had other things to do, I would've gone of course. But of all the things to miss...I could live with it. ;)

Nice garden pics! Pretty wild about the mooch lady Maybe she is a "little off?"

Wondering what happened in the city...

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking, just a "little off". I still need to work on the next update!

Why does it have to be so hard? Kids should just go with what the parents want, and like it! Hmm, you might be able to hit the WWII historical sites and integrate some food/beer/wine stops. Wine in Normandy, beer in Bastogne, and some pomme frites in between!

Now, having two teenagers of my own, I am able read "teenager", but I was surprised (and pleased) to see Marlene's descriptions using vowels and actual punctuation in her description!

Yes, I know what you mean. U nvr no wut ur gona git.

Great show!

I didn't watch it a whole lot, but it was kinda interesting.

Yeah, I think they opened or are opening a different store somewhere where the rent isn't quite so high. Not 100% sure though.

:goodvibes:

I think it came about more because she kept nixing ideas of things we could do. Not so much that she wanted to play it by ear!

Gotta have some food porn for the readers.

Looks like your tribute visit to the Dakota and Strawberry Fields was yet another stop with some musical overtones.

True dat.

That was some eagle eyes :magnify: spotting that mama hawk and chick. Awesome pictures!

I wouldn't have seen them if there weren't a few other photographers already taking pictures.

Clean and comfortable room- that should work.

:thumbsup2

Works for me!

A focus group for camera development!

No pun intended!

Wow! The meal at Bengal Tiger looks great. Bonus that it was relatively inexpensive, too? Was it crowded?

Man, it was good! No, not too crowded. We were seated right away and there were a couple of smaller tables that were open. I think it mostly filled up while we were there...we tend to eat at the early part of the "dinner hour".

Unfortunately, the only musical connection I can come up with is "Eye of the Tiger" and that scares me. Maybe some Bollywood?

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of that song. I can't come up with anything better though. That's a toughie.

Times Square looks awesome! For a short visit. I think the crowds, sights and sounds would get old quick.

You need to do at least a short visit. And that's plenty.

Glenn,

Thanks for the welcome back. May be able to be around a bit more....not sure. I will head over to Rosie's PTR now...

Didn't take you long to start egging-on for another update! It's been a busy week! (And will continue for a while.)

It's really strange when you post, quoting some posts that aren't on the last page, you get some weird amalgam of posts from that page and the last page. It's best just to go out and come back in, I think.

Well yeah, bromeliads. Of course. That's how I spell "relief".

Thanks! can't believe it's been almost 10 years since the DCL cruise!

I know! It makes me feel so old to see how grown up Wendy and Derek's kids areo_O

Did you guys travel together? If so, I didn't realize that. Very cool.

The gardens look beautiful. They took some great shots. What did you do while the ladies were out?

Thanks jandlinz. I think those are all just from Marlene's ipod. Pretty low resolution, but it'll work.

He is - No damage in his neck of the woods either. Both just really busy with work and his youngest College Cross Country schedule. Which is odd since most of his meets are in NC even though he goes to school in SC. :rotfl2:

Glad to hear he didn't get any damage or issues. I know the feeling -- very busy here too!

Such a long time ago.... I "met" Jordan on the DIS while planning our first cruise for Dec 2005. We met for real on the ship, then Jim and I met Derek at a DVC talk and he gave us a "friends and family" card that gave us credit for our down payment on DVC!!!

Then we all met up at Castaway Cay later in the cruise. Little Dylan was just a baby then. :disrocks:

That's awesome. Gotta love the DIS for getting people connected like that! :thumbsup2
