Best TA for onboard incentives?

It's been quite a few years since our last cruise and I am trying to get reacquainted with everything.

We used to rebook on board for that discount and then transfer to Dreams Unlimited for their onboard credit. I cannot book onboard obviously so is DU still the best TA to use?

What other agents have you used?

Thanks!
Kathy

There are loads of Travel Agents for DCL offering OBCs not all of them can be posted here, it's worth doing a Google search for them. If you google Specialist DCL travel agent you should get quite a few.

I use an agent that can't be posted here, I am very pleased with the service, DU sponsors this forum.

We are getting ready for our first cruise, so I am no expert. I think our onboard credit with Dreams is fantastic! That, paired with our Disney Visa credit, will pay for quite a bit on board.

I'm not certain if we are allowed to say this or not on these boards, but you might also try http://www.cruisecompete.com/ to get multiple offers from various TAs. but I would caution you to check them out a bit and not base your decision solely on OBC.

I like Dreams, I've done it on my own and with other agencies in the past. I prefer dealing with email, so that's a bonus for me, may not be fore everyone though. Do look for an agency that specializes in DCL though. I worked as an agent for a while for a "Cruise Specialist" I was the only agent with any DCL experience.

Just a reminder of DISboard rules ... please post the full URL website address when naming a TA. If it passes the filter, you may share the name; if not, please do not try to circumvent the filter.

Be aware that any TA should provide the same fare quote that you will get from DCL; some may or may not include taxes and fees in the quote. Some TAs may offer OBC or other incentive for booking through them.

Enjoy your cruise!

I booked through our local bus touring company and instead of an OBC, I received free bus fare for all 6 of us. We were planning on taking the bus down to NYC anyway. The company runs cruise express busses and we've taken them before to Carnival and Royal Caribbean. Roundtrip is $90 a person so it saved us almost $600. The cruise price was the same as booking through DCL.

We like Costco Travel - www.Costcotravel.com. They offer a pretty large rebate/cash card, which is the best I've found. It works out to about 7-8% of your cruise fare. The cash card arrives about a week after you return from your cruise. My local store allows me to cash it in, so I don't have to spend the money in store. Good luck!

Is a $100 OBC a normal/reasonable credit or is that low?

This OBC is from a TA for a 7 night deluxe oceanview with a verandah.

This would be for a placeholder that will be transferred to a TA.

$100 sounds about right. Usually the obc for a cruise like you described is $150-$200 depending on the cost of the cruise. But the commission and thus obc are lower when booked and then transferred to a TA.

Okay Thx. This is my first time getting an OBC, so I wanted to make sure I'm not getting something lower than normal. :)

If I understand this placeholder thing correctly, I will get a $200 OBC from Disney for a 7 night cruise and $100 OBC from the TA that I choose to transfer the booking. So, I should get at least $300 in OBC for a 7 night cruise, if my understanding of how this all works is accurate.

That would be correct. The rebooking obc and TA obc are separate so you can get both.

Have you already decided on a TA? Transfers to a TA have to be done within 30 days of booking.
