I will be staying at Pop in May with my husband and 5 year old son. What is the best building/location to stay in at this resort? Is it worth it to pay for a preferred room?

We were in the 70's building and felt it to be a very good location. It was not a preferred location. :goodvibes

At Pop Century I really think the 50's building is a good choice. Most rooms are not considered preferred location rooms but they are located very close to the lobby and the 50's building is located next to a pool as well.

I think it depends on where you end up if you don't have preferred room. There are some buildings I would NOT want to be in since it's a long walk to the lobby. We always book a "preferred" room and have had okay locations. It's been a few trips since we've stayed there so I don't remember where each decade is located right at the moment. :)

We were in the 50's section and liked it. I would be pickier about a location if we had a car some locations are far from parking.

We've stayed at POP twice. In 2010 we got a standard room and stayed in the 80's pretty close to Roger Rabbit. In 2012 we payed for a preferred room and were in the backside of the 50's building closest to Classic Hall (kind of behind Lady). http://i962.photobucket.com/albums/ae107/braverman4/POP%20Century%20Thread/PopCenturyMap2012RoomCategoriesFINAL.jpg Both times we were on the 1st floor as a special needs request, used ME and Disney transportation, and had the QSDP.

I was happy with both locations. If I had to chose, though, I think I liked the preferred location as it was easier to get to the food court for refills, meals, etc. and to get to the room at the end of the day. But I had a DD with health/fatigue issues and a mom in a wheelchair/scooter. It's really only a difference of a few minutes; maybe 5 tops.
