Because everyone around me is sick of hearing about Disney! Our Oct 15 PTR

We will be going to WDW October this year and I am beyond excited for
1. Our longest trip so far
2: My first food and wine festival
3. My favorite event, MNSSHP which we skipped this past September

Everyone around me, yes everyone, except for my kid who is coming along is sick and tired of me and my Disney plans. So here I am sharing my plans with people who totally get it.
This is the travel party, my DS and I

I am leshunlenese or just Shun. The Disney obsessed lover. I love everything about Walt Disney world, especially the trip planning. I even did the Disney College program in 2007 and have some of the best memories of my life. I am 28 years old and a single parent to my adorable 5 year old DS. To fund this Disney obsession of mine I work as a critical care and emergency room respiratory therapist. I am not sure my real number :lmao: but this is the 12th trip I have taken as a parent. My favorite ride is the people mover:thumbsup2 Yes silly huh? last September was our first mom and son trip and I loved it. I really love that I can spend time with him and not worry about the normal stuff. That TR is HERE and will be very short if you care to read along

My DS, Devyn, is 5 and is the sweetest, loving, Disney crazy kid I could ask for. He is in pre-k and will be tested out of his IEP the end of the year. He was diagnosed with a language impairment when he was 18 months and after three years of speech therapy he is now speaking more than ever. Devyn is a karateka. :confused3 He has been doing karate since he was 3 and is now a basketball player. He has his first game in two days and I am beyond excited.
His favorite rides are Toy story mania and the monorail! Yes the boy loves the monorail or any traiin really. He also loves disney. He asked me why do I have to keep going to work and I told him if I stop we could not go to Disney anymore. after that he stopped the tears and was totally find with me going to work, on new years day too! This will be his 12th trip.

I'll follow along, I bet I can get some tips for our next trip!

The people mover is closed during our trip so I see lots of monorail trips for us instead :)

Following! I'm planning a trip around the same time as you as well. Your tidbit about your son reminded me so much of my own! My DS is obsessed with with trains as well. He always tells everyone that will listen about the monorail and how it's his favorite ride. :lmao: He is in pre-k as well, we just started speech therapy and I'm hoping for some good results.

Can't wait to hear more. :thumbsup2

Yah! According to yourfirstwdwvisit.net. October 18th is the 5th best week to go to Disney in 2015! :thumbsup2Fingers cross it remains that way!
the monorail! These boys!:rotfl: yeah we where the magic kingdom last time and left the park twice just to ride his favorite ride. Sometimes I wonder why I even buy park tickets:confused3:goodvibes. speech therapy has been very good for my DS and so I hope the same is true for you. Thanks for letting me know you are following along!

TODAY'S COUNTDOWN: 287 DAYS

Our Disney travel history

I was blessed enough to go to Disney almost every year growing up , thank you parents! In 2007, I participated in the Disney college program. I worked future world north merchandise, working mostly in strollers and the stores under spaceship earth and package pick up.

My son's 1st trip was in October 2010 for his 1st birthday! We stayed at Disney's Pop century resort and we all experienced MNSSHP for the 1st time, as well as free dining for the 1st time.

ry%3D400

Trip #2 was December 2010 when DS was 15 months and we stayed at the Disney's Polynesian resort. It was also extremely cold that year. They got snow in Georgia while we were there. We stuck to Magic Kingdom on this trip due to easy access. The monorail was a life saver for kids that age and traveling alone, I did not have to fight with folding up the stroller! we were upgraded to a lagoon view from standard. It turned out amazing because it was really a theme park view with a tree blocking but if you bent down on your knee, you could see the castle!!! We could even see the fireworks from inside. This was of course on a discount years ago and I only paid 200 something. No way i would pay the prices know without some help. One night's stay is like half a month's rent. One day I will save enough to stay there again.

ry%3D400

May 2011 was number 3. We stayed at Pop century again with my mom and nephew. Our usually travel party! We had free quick service dining! I got an Annual pass for the 1st time!

In August 2011 We took a last minute trip using my AP, Ds was still free and under 3. It was hot but it reminded me of my trips growing up. We always went in summer and were at the parks all day in the hot!
December 2011 was trip # 5 for us together. We stayed at Disney's Animal Kingdom villas -Jambo house in a deluxe studio. We left for this trip the day after I graduated from College. Best graduation gift ever. My sister and her family also joined us for 4 of these days

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

2012 was a sad year of no Disney. :( I just graduated and it took me a while before I found a new job in what I went to school for. Also my AP expired!:furious:

Feb 2013 was trip number 6. We stayed at the Walt Disney world Dolphin resort and we did not do any parks! Me and the kiddo made a big move a few months prior after securing a job 5 hours away from home. However, at that time my drive to Disney was reduced from 8 to 3!!! While my mom was visiting me to help with my homesickness, we took the short 3 hour drive down. It was just what I needed!

May 2013
We stayed at pop century again and my son's godmother joined us! My dad bought me a one day ticket for my birthday. I was so happy to turn 27 in my happy place. This was his 1st trip as a paying guest. He was so happy he got his own refillable mug with the dining plan! He was loved getting character autographs! This was only one day but it is my favorite trip! The little one was so into Disney at this age. He loved everything. He was very vocal on what he liked. He rode his first big ride, Big thunder mountain railroad. I found out he does not like It's a small world and we have not been on it since this time! We got to experience the new fantasyland for the 1st time. we found out we love watching wishes from behind the castle! It was his first trip being potty trained. Finally, We found out he does not do naps and he never used his stroller! He just became a big boy! This has to be my favorite trip just because of his experience even though it was only for a weekend!

ry%3D400

September 2013 was #8. I had been planning this trip since his 3rd birthday. I knew I wanted to celebrate his birthday here. Over a year of planning we eventually ended up at the Disney's yacht club with free dining. The YC clearly became a favorite resort. The very short walk to EPCOT made me feel so special. We were upgraded to an amazing lagoon view with a view of illuminations. We also got to meet the guy below at Hollywood studios during the special Friday the 13th unleash the villains event. This was such a great trip with my sister, mom and nephew. Especially since we were still living far from our family.

ry%3D400

November 2013 was Devyn's 9th trip. His godmother came with us again. His other god aunt and my lifelong best friend of 20 plus years came also on her very 1st trip to Disney. We stayed at POR, our 1st time at a moderate. It was so beautiful! Definately will stay here again and I am sure it has nothing to do with the nice looking gentlemen that escorted us in during check in! I am sure of it!

ry%3D400

2014
In May of 2014 was epic. We had our first Disney cruise with 11 of our family members. My grandma, aunt, sister, and some of my cousins. Devyn and I also made a pit stop at the world a day after. This was for my 28th birthday which is in May. What they say about the cruise is true! Amazing and those 3 nights were too short. I almost made this trip a Disney with 4 night dream cruise but for some reason there are no cruises that week and while it is amazing, I can't just do the cruise. I am still a Disney park girl and I have to get my park time in!

ry%3D400

September 2014 was our 11th trip for my DS and I together. Our mom and son trip which happen to be very short but truly epic! As a working mom It was the best experience to have that time with just me and him. Devyn was 40 inches and got his first ride on Splash! He is still not willing to try TOT. Maybe this year!

2015
This brings us to October 2015. I admit younger, I spent more on Disney than I should. So i am trying to keep it to once a year if i can. Fingers crossed. DS is in kindergarten and while I have no problem pulling him out of school, my mom may go and works in the school and my sister may be going with us and also does not like taking her son out of school so fall break it was. We can't do summer anymore. I know it is still hot in September but it is cheaper and not as crowded . Spring break was an option but more expensive. I am excited though because I love Disney in the fall.

I just watched your 2014 video, Devyn is so cute. I loved his dancing! :cool1: The picture of him touching noses with Minnie is priceless.

I hope your planning is going well, October seems so far away but time flies so it will be right around the corner soon enough. :cheer2:

hello, yep looks like you have a lot of Disney experience. We have a trip planned December 2015 but I have been thinking about moving it up to a October trip. My DH has been wanting to experience F&W and we went to Mickeys Halloween party at Disneyland and enjoyed it so now I want to enjoy MNSSHP, but I don't know cause We love Disney in December. oh well I have time to think about it before the important dates start.

I also have a son who is in speech therapy since November. He is two years old and progress is slow but I know he will be talking soon.

Following - we are going to be there at the same time as you guys!!! We usually go in October (I'm just starting my trip report from our last Oct trip).

Off to check out your previous trip report! Your son is a cutie!!!

Thank you. I know it was not the best quality so thanks for watching. October is so far :( Yet I am already thinking about MNSSHP costumes! Maybe I can find some on sale this early?

I don't blame you! Disney during is Christmas is beautiful! I was suppose to go in April but I just started a new job and the price during spring break was crazy! At least you got some time to decide.

When my son first started it took him a couple of months before he even would talk. It was not until he turned three and went into the school system when I really started to know a difference. His teacher and speech therapist at the school were amazing! It will come and pretty soon he will not stop talking!:goodvibes

Found PTR! I'm following along. May start my own soon...

Hi there!! Glad to see you here! Ill be on the look out for yours:)

Following - we are going to be there at the same time as you guys!!! We usually go in October (I'm just starting my trip report from our last Oct trip).

Off to check out your previous trip report! Your son is a cutie!!!

Yah! We usually go in September, went once the first weekend in october. I am excited to get to food and wine yet there is so much I want to do I may not get over there but once or twice. :(

Hey I saw your video and it was amazing! So much clearer than mine! I need to invest in a real camcorder though, Not the one on my camera

Thank you :) We actually bought the cheaper gopro for $129 and it seemed to work pretty good!

I absolutely cannot wait for F&W - I just wish it wasn't so dang crowded!

Today’s countdown: 281 days
Here we go. I’ve been pretty busy lately but still cannot stop thinking in my head. One is it to early to think about costumes for MNSSHP? The past 2 years we have not been in costume so I am hoping to change that even me in a costume! I thought about princess Tiana but the only dresses I found were 300 dollars on etsy! I am not creative so whatever it is I am going to have to buy it. The other two ides I am leaning towards is a theme. My DS as the mad hatter and me as Alice or the DS as peter and me as tinker bell but her costume seems small for a big girl my size. I got time I suppose but today I really want to talk about dining.
I have been going through my head about it. I was really considering paying oop but then I realized most of the places we want are buffets and then my DS requested the most expensive buffet of all Chef Mickeys.

SO this is a list we are considering
Garden Grill: we absolutely love this meal. However, my DS said chef mickeys and this will make 3 meals with Mickey

Cape May café: This is for me, my favorite meal! However the price has paying oop not a good idea. I wish they would give Disney visa discounts

Hollywood and Vine lunch: We have eaten here every trip and it is my mom’s favorite place. I like it too and my DS is getting older and not watching as much Disney junior so this may be our last time here

T-REX: another place we enjoy and because we skipped last time, we will be coming back this trip

Tusker house breakfast: This would be a new place for all of us
Yak and yeti: I don’t know why but I really want to try this place. It will be new for us.

Kona café: Whether we are on DDP or not we will be going here and either way paying oop. I have been trying to get back here for breakfast for two years. Oh im coming back!

Chef Mickeys: we ate here last year and my DS specifically requested this meal. I am on the fence; I really did not like it as much as I thought. My mom has never been for dinner, so this would be here first time.

Crystal palace: our fav breakfast. Ds and I had dinner here in September and we definitely like breakfast better.

1900 PF: my mom has not been here. We had dinner here in 2013. I remember liking it but it is not a must do and we wont be paying oop to dine here if we decide against DDP

So as you can see we would only be able to do 8 of these if we did the dining plan and if we were to pay for food we would keep 6 or 7 of these. I used the calculator on dis trip planner. It looks like the dining plan would save us money if we got refillable mugs and ate dessert at every meal. To be honest the quick service meals, we don’t really like those dessert options. There is also the chance o f price increases for DDP and the restaurant prices. One thing I really like about the plan is already having my food taken care of. I will just hope for free dining or some type of discount but since free dining was excluded this time last year, I am not holding my breath! Oh well, until next time!

Food is on my mind, too. I tossed the idea of DDP vs OOP around for days and I've decided OOP for the moment.

What's your favorite thing about Kona Cafe? I've been considering that for breakfast.

Hi! Following along. Your son is adorable. How great that you've had so many fun trips with him.

My favorite ride is also the people mover. :)

We also love the monorail and the boats. That's one of the great things about Disney trips - it's fun even if you're not in the parks. That was one of the things I remember from our first trip with DS. We were staying at WL and took the boat over to MK and I think that's when I first felt the magic. :cloud9:

I enjoyed reading about all of your trips and how different they were. I'm glad to hear you loved the YC. I hope we love it, too.

We go over the prices each time and, the last two years we've paid out of pocket.

1900PF - we liked it for the characters, not the food at all!

Tusker House - loved the breakfast there.

Crystal Palace - our favorite breakfast!

Chef Mickey's - I get why kids like it there, DS loves it, but I'm not a huge fan.

Cape May Café - gotta be honest, it was always my favorite buffet. But when we went this past Oct, we said never again. It seemed like the selection & quality was not what it used to be.

Kona - mmmmmmm - we liked everything we had there for breakfast!

We have the same countdown as you guys! Might end up seeing you there! I'm trying to narrow down our dining choices, we have a group of 12 this year and I'm nervous about getting ADR's!

Food is on my mind, too. I tossed the idea of DDP vs OOP around for days and I've decided OOP for the moment.

What's your favorite thing about Kona Cafe? I've been considering that for breakfast.

So glad i am not the only one! I have always got the big kahuna but really i just want the macadamia Pineapple Pancakes. oh and the juice! I think we are leaning towards OOP. We share quick service meals and we like to get snacks on vacation unlike at home

Thank you! :goodvibes

The people mover is awesome!! :thumbsup2 My DS had me on it several times which only made me like it better.

He loves the transporation too, even the buses becasue that is the only time he ever ride a bus. They are rides to him!

I hope you like the Yacht club! We sure did!

We go over the prices each time and, the last two years we've paid out of pocket.

I think that we will do oop this time, unless by some miracle they offer free dining during that time.

I agree the characters were more fun at 1900 than the food. OH and chef mickey's, I wasn't a fan either. Id do breakfast before dinner though!

I haven't been to cape may in over a year. I did notices last time the options were not as plentiful. It is a bit expensive and may be a place we save for the dining plan or as devyn gets older.

same countdown!:cool1: Ill keep my eyes open for you!
12 people! Oh that was like out cruise! Its going to be fun!!!:lmao:

So I was going to update yesterday but i lost my post somehow!
Oh well:confused:

Hello everyone!:goodvibes

TODAY'S COUNTDOWN IS 270 DAYS!

I am so excited. First my DS started basketball this year in the county training league with 4,5,and 6 year old kids. He had a game Friday and he got his first basket!!!! I think I was more excited and even though they do not keep score in this league I was so proud. Just at the beginning of the month he could not even dribble the ball but now he dribbles and shoots. He still needs time but I am already proud!

ry%3D480

Seeing the little kids play is so cute! I love how they support each other. Whenever a kid masks a basket they all give each other fives and if someone falls, they make sure he is ok!

Now onto Disney!

I have decided that we will pay OOP for food and if free dining is offered then we will get the dining plan. I am kind of nervous it was just so much more convenient. I figured I would just use the cost of the dining plan on a Disney gift card and use that for food!
Park hours are not out but I have a plan based on last year hours. I'm in like planning overload right now! I can't stop!
This is on the premises that we do not get park hoppers. I think with 9 days we could really get away without them but once I figure out our must-dos I can get a better idea of how much time we need. Here is the in my head maybe plan. . .

Saturday:
Arrival day. :cool1:
Drive and arrive around 1pm
Head out for MK PM EMH about 6.

Sunday:
No alarms
MNSSHP if offered! Usually it is on a Sunday but I did notice one day it was not.:confused3

Monday:
Sleep in, which means 8am for my kid!
Epcot
Start with food and wine and end in future world with some FP+

Tuesday:

We decided to scrap the idea of US/IOA for a few reasons. One even though my son will be 6 and loves spongebob, we live in GA and i am going to plan a few days next spring break where he will be a few months older. Second, for the 100 dollars for a a\one day 2 park ticket, even though we have done this before, I do not want to feel rushed. Finally we can save that money and pay an extra 10 dollars for another park day and not try to squeeze AK before mnsshp. we haven't been to AK in two years so I really want to make it over there!
