Be our guest... is it worth it?

I agree with you completley...and I would never give up any of the better restaurants outside the gate for the beast cafeteria...

The food in magic Kingdom is not that great - nor do they seem to care. How can you justify the existence of Tony's terrible pasta house if they cared?
You can't.

And the dining rooms are vastly overrated. Can't stress that enough.
I don't know why it is that the resort restaurants are always much better quality--decor, food, etc. I guess by numbers, the theme parks see a gazillion(?) more people come through on a daily basis and Disney doesn't want to overspend on trying to keep up something really nice--they would probably have to be renovating, fixing up constantly. Maybe it's the kids factor at MK? HS has Hollywood Brown Derby that is a little step above and EPCOT has a number of restaurants that seem better as well. Oh well, I'm not on the board when it comes to making decisions--so what do I know. :rolleyes1:rolleyes1:rolleyes1:rolleyes1

We loved BOG for dinner so much (it was our first visit to BOG), we kept checking and booked it a second time for that same trip (and had the same waiter the second time which was funny). We really enjoyed our food especially the pommes frites (not sure if I spelled that correctly) and the cupcakes! We paid OOp.

We have nothing but good things to say about it! I would recommend going to see for yourself if you like it or not!

We only did lunch but we loved it! Will be going back for lunch again. Loved the roast pork dish, the ambiance, the cupcakes were fun too. Absolutely the best in the magic kingdom for food and probably for atmosphere too. Lots of hidden mickeys to find as well which my kids love.

I thought the food was great, and the atmosphere can't be beat. Totally worth it, especially if you are on the dining plan.

We just ate ate BOG for dinner on Friday, June 5th and it was hands-down are favorite meal of the trip. My husband and I both got the steak which was delicious. Two of the kids got grilled cheese and tomato soup, and another got the kid's steak. The kids who got the steak LOVES A-1 and at first requested it. But after taking a bite of the steak he said "Daddy I don't need A-1 because this steak is delicious! The best steak I've ever had."

I was afraid it would be a long meal and we would miss Wishes. We arrived 10 minutes early and they said they were running 15 minutes behind ADR times. My DH and I ordered soup and the kids each got a salad. Our entrees came our quickly followed by dessert. We then met with the Beast. I took about an hour and a half for all of that, including the wait to get a table. I was quite surprised.

We paid OOP for every meal and it was actually one of our cheaper meals.

We ate at the following last week: Hoop Dee Doo Revue, Boma, T-Rex, Chef Mickey's, Via Napoli, 'Ohana (breakfast) and BOG. Many were good but BOG is the only place we will be adding to our favorite places and will repeat again next trip.

:rotfl2:Did this help, @Heather Heflin? I think the answer is going to be that you need to try it yourself because BOG seems to elicit strong for or against reactions, even more than most WDW eateries!

I am sorry to hear so many people had disappointing experiences with this restaurant. I am really looking forward to this.

I wouldn't say disappointed at all...

I thought it was overpriced/OVERATED - but that is a matter of my particular tastes.

I think it depends on what you're looking for/what you're used too in terms of food.

We had lunch there the first year it was open, it was just ok. The same year my sister had dinner there and said she loved it. I think dinner is worth it, in my opinion. If I had a choice over CRT and BOG I would go with BOG hands down..... For food and prices.

I really like lunch there. Was just there again today with my daughter. Got out for under $30 and the food was delicious. We used to spend about the same to eat at Cosmic Rays. Blegh.

Now, dinner doesn't have a particularly intimate feel. The ceilings are simply too high and the rooms too large with exception of the West Wing room. But, I mean, you can have wine and order lamb in the Magic Kingdom. So, there is that. lol

Got a lot of eating to do

Definitely keep it, especially if you haven't been there yet. You might decide it was a "one-time thing" afterwards, but the theming itself is worth at least one trip. I found that the food was pretty good. Don't forget to try the grey stuff!

I haven't been, but IMO you have to go and try it for yourself. I just got my ADR for BOG. I'm excited for a new experience, good or bad, I can't wait :)
