We are going on the Fantasy for Spring Break. I simply can't be that close to Disney and not swing by, so the day we get of the boat, we are going to head over for one night. I've decided that being at the boardwalk area will allow quick acess to Epcot and Studios. What are the pros and cons to BCV and BWV? It will be me, DH and DS(14).

They are only about a 5 minute walk from each other so location isn't better at one over the other. BCV is a little closer to Epcot, BWV is a little closer to DHS.

Most would argue that the pool at BCV is better, the best on property. I find it busy and hectic so I don't think it's that huge of an advantage at BCV.

BCV does have the BC Marketplace that is more convenient for quick grab and go food, soda, etc.

BWV has close access to the evening entertainment on the Boardwalk.

So IMO, if StormAlongBay pool at BC isn't a huge draw, I'd probably prefer BWV. I own at BCV but I prefer the bwv since it's so easy to get around that area, I like the atmosphere at BWV better.

As indicated, both BCV and BWV provide easy walks to DHS & EPCOT. Personally, we prefer BWV location as it makes the walk to each park easy while BCV to DHS is a bit of a hike.

For one night, I'd pick the resort you haven't stayed at just to "sample" it. If you haven't stayed at either, then I'd probably go for BCV as it is generally harder to book than BWV for future trips.

No contest, pick BCV! But if you don't own there you might have a hard time getting in at 7 months.

Frankly, since you are less than 7 months out, I would call immediately and take whichever one you can get right now if you can get either, and since it is only one night, it really does not make a difference which, but if you are real lucky and can get BWV standard view, do that because of the lower points.

We loved our BCV stay back in May and are going to be going back in January. We haven't stayed at BWV yet, but do plan on doing so. Like others have said, they are both in a great location with 2 parks that are easy to walk to or take a nice boat ride. We really like BCV because we like the atmosphere at that resort over BWV (however staying in a villa overlooking the BW would be pretty nice, but very hard to get). I agree with the PP that suggested you to call and see what you could get, because even though we got BCV at our 7 month (twice now), we didn't go at a busy time of year like you are. Good luck, I think you will be happy with whatever you choose.

    Okay, hijacking OP's thread briefly ... :rolleyes1
If you had a week instead of one night and a 6 year old instead of a 14 year old and were really interested in Epcot, which would you pick between BCV & BWV .... just because of the decor I'm leaning towards Beach Club (and apparently it has a back entrance to Epcot?), but the Standard View points are so cheap at Boardwalk. How bad are the Standard Views? Will one still be okay with spending time on the balcony? I know there's no good views at BC but most of the balconies are okay. Renting points for 11 months anyways so availability isn't as much of a concern. Opinions?

Save the points and stay at BWV. If your 6 year old is too tired to walk from EPCOT you can just hop on a boat and be back at the resort in no time.
More importantly, if you are really from Maui then none of the resorts will offer a good enough view for you. I'm sure your "daily view expectations" are a little bit skewed compared to the rest of us.

:rotfl2::rotfl::rotfl2:I don't know if my "daily view expectations" are skewed, but yes, I do find an ocean view boring (though every once in awhile the volcanoes in a certain light make me glad I live here despite the high cost of living and small community drawbacks) and only would pay extra points for not looking at a bad view, not necessarily to get a good view, KWIM? At BLT for the same trip for the other week I'm planning on a Lake View bc I'd like to have a shot at seeing the EWP, don't want to pay extra points for the MK view, and don't want a "bad view" since at VGC there really aren't any bad views, the worst is the pool view which the single guy friends in my party think is awesome. ;)
I did not realize there was a boat option to come back to Boardwalk from Epcot, that is very helpful information. 127 points vs 166 is very tempting for the same nights, and I think I'll go with the BWV if the rest of my party approves. Besides being a bit closer to DHS with the fancy Xmas lights in Dec has to be a good thing, right? :cool2:

If your going in Dec, or any month the pool is not going to be a prime visiting item then BW is an easy pick.. If you are going during swimming season, April - early Nov, then the BC for the 6 yr would be an easy pick.

Hey sweetdana, that is a great point about the pool and December (brrr) but I have yet to meet a 6 year old who wouldn't put up with some blue lips and hypothermia to swim in a Disney. I would still go with BWV due to the points.
