Back-to-Back Cruises ?

I can't seem to find the answer - if we book back-to-back cruises (3 nights then 4), do we have to get on the ship between cruises? If so, is there a waiting area for us other than the main building? Do they keep your luggage on the ship (don't know if we can get the same room for both cruises)?

If you get to stay on, is there a certain area they keep you in?

TIA
