I just wanted to get this thread started for the cruise. I'm very excited! This will not only be the first Disney cruise I will have been on but my only cruise! My fiancé and I will be getting Married on Castaway Cay! I am interested in doing FE and I am hoping to find others on the cruise that are also interested!

Just booked this as a back-to-back with the August 26 - 3 night. This will be our 7th Disney cruise and 4th on the Dream. Our son starts high school when we are back, so this is a bit of a "graduation from elementary school" celebration for him.

This is my first cruise so I'm still not 100% sure how this works so I'd love to hear from someone who has done fish extenders before. From what I've read you just say you want to do them and everyone makes little gifts for all the people that sign up so I assume we'd need to share first names of people in our group and room numbers?

My son and I will be celebrating his birthday on the Dream, and we would like to join the FE group. We have done it on all but our first Disney cruise, and have started making our gifts!

It sounds like you guys have a good amount of interest! It tends to pick up the closer you get to your sailing date as well. Being in charge of the FE is easy (if a trial of patience as people do go MIA sometimes after saying they want to join).

Your group can decide on what information is necessary. A basic list may only have DISname/room number/number of people in the room. A more involved list could be first & last names/ages/room number/favorite character/favorite color/allergies/whatever is deemed necessary to know. Also a decision can be made as to size of FE. Some groups break out the list(s) at 10-15 rooms max, so that there are multiple lists (and some people will participate in more than one list). Other groups just make one big list (upwards of 20-30 rooms).

At some point the list will "close". Typically this happens 30-45 days out from the cruise, so that everyone participating has time to organize/prepare their gifts. Shortly before this time (about 2-3 weeks prior) the organizer will either post the list (usually via a conversation is best, as that's more private) to confirm everyone on it is still participating. And making a statement about "anyone not confirming by XX date will be dropped".

Once the list closes, the organizer will post the final list. Also, a decision must be made as to whether to allow late additions. Sometimes there is a "pixie dust" list. That is, basically, a latecomers list that gets posted about a week out from the cruise that others may or may not add to their "final" list. Be sure the "pixie dust" list participants realize they may or may not get gifts from others.

It appears that there is no Fish Extender group organized here on the DISboards. If you read post #8, you'll get an idea of how to set one up.

The cruise is going to be towards the end of our holiday, as I have to get back for graduation (second), so we flight out much earlier. It's definitely good to have a few days before you go, saves the panic of not arriving in the country on time for some reason!
