What happens if u arrive at port before the time stated on our online check in?
Usually you are admitted to the terminal and can check in. HOWEVER, DCL can hold you outside the terminal till your scheduled time. I've never read of people being held more than 20 minutes or so, but it could happen.
The purpose of the scheduled arrival times is to spread out the crowds so the number of people in the terminal doesn't exceed the fire marshal's allowed number. If too many people arrive early, they'll be kept waiting.
It depends on what time your PAT is, what time you actually arrive, and whether the terminal is full.
If you have a, say, a 2:30-3:00 window and arrive at 11:00, you may be asked to wait outside the terminal until either the terminal is less busy or your PAT.
If your PAT is, say, a 12:30-1:00 window, and arrive at 12:00, you may be allowed in early.
I will point out that your actual boarding number which you receive when you checkin at the port is tied to your PAT. So, even if you are allowed to checkin early, you may see others arriving after you (at their correct PAT) boarding before you do.
