I was on TGM and the OP said he hated Star Wars weekend. :confused3 He said he was a Star Wars fan, but that it was terrible. I'm assuming he meant the crowds, however he hasn't posted anything since then. That worries me cause he's a TGM guy he should have a plan. :guilty: Anyone else hate it?

We are leaving today and plan to be at Studios (FKA MGM) :rotfl: on Sunday.

We were there - did not hate it, the parade was kind of weak. The line for the store was like 4 hours long. There were not many places that was selling merchandise and I was not wild about the T shirt design for this year. The characters just kind of walk around or you satnd in line for pictures with them, I wish they did something, but I am not sure what they would do. It was fun and if we were there again at that time, we would go, but I would not plan my trip around it.

We were there last week. My sons 6 and 8 LOVED IT!! I'm not sure what everyone's expectations are. To me it's all about how much you "get into it". It's all make believe - you have to pretend. We got excited each time we saw a character walking down the street. The Star Wars music was blasting from all the speakers and it was a fun atmosphere.

The storm troopers were so funny - they were really playing the role of the bad guys and interacting with everyone. The Sith Lord was also very into character and actually scary! :teeth: I turned a corner and almost ran into him and felt the urge to run away. He was a very convincing bad guy!

The crowds were much better on Friday. I stood in line for about 30 minutes to buy the collectible stuff (Darth Goofy and SWW pins). We went back on Saturday and the lines were longer. But we still waited to see some of the characters (10-20 minutes). We has been waiting in lines all week at the other parks and we didn't mind. There was a lot going on around us to watch while we waited.

My sons loved watching the characters interact with the other guests. They loved the whole experience and didn't want to leave. I visited with lots of other fans and really enjoyed the weekend!

I hope you have a wonderful time! :ewok: :chewy: :yoda: :darth:

My only complaint is the logo. I think its too busy. I like the simplicity of last years better.

We went Friday and Sunday, and had a blast both days. We are huge Star Wars dorks though, and love the trivia challenges and WWTBAM SW edition.

As for the parade, it was short, and didn't have as much magic as the regular parades, but I got some great pictures of characters, and that's what I was after.

As for character meets, some of them were difficult to get into, but most characters in the Impirial Base were walking around and you could easily get your picture taken with them.

Our favorite thing by far is the talk show. It's so entertaining, and each day that we went it was different. Warrick Davis is the host, and he is hilarious, with a very quick wit. They do some skits and then at the end take questions.

We had a fantastic time, and we'll be back each weekend.

Belle Amy, you sound like our family! We were there on Friday and Sunday, too (figured Saturday would be the biggest zoo). Warwick Davis was really great! We were at the Who Wants to Be A Millionaire Star Wars Edition Friday morning when a 15 year old won the cruise---lots of fun! The talk show was terrific---we saw it both days and while a few of the bits were repeated, the interviews were different each time. Also, it was really exciting to meet Rick McCallum, producer of all 3 of the Star Wars prequel movies, and get his autograph. If someone says they hated SWW, I, too, would wonder what their expectations were or if they were anticipating something very, very specific.

p.s. I agree about the logo--last year's was so much better! DH kept pointing out the posters that showed the MGM-Studios water tower with the x-wing fighter flying past it and saying,"Why didn't they use that as the logo? That's so much better!"

We went on Sunday and had a great time!

There was no line for the store, we walked right in, it was really cool, lots of merchandise to choose from.

We pretty much just concentrated on seeing characters and we saw a bunch of them. The line for Darth Vader was the longest, that took us about 40 minutes because everyone insisted on "playing" with him for a few minutes each time. The line for Jedi Mickey was much shorter, only about 10-15 minutes, tops.

We really enjoyed the motorcade, it was fun to see all the characters, especially the more rare ones. Didn't get a chance to play WWTBAM though, maybe this weekend.

Thanks everyone! I'm excited again :Pinkbounc My DH is a big SW guy has all the books and bought Travial Pursuat Star Wars edition to study for the trivia game. We have basically tossed our "standard" mgm iternary out the window to do all SW stuff and leave everything else for later.

In less than 12 hours we will be there :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc Oh my gosh I still have to get througth the rest of the work day!

DNeph (8) and I had sooo much fun at SWW last year that we are planning another 'quick' trip around it this year, too! And if we have as much fun this year as we did last year, I'm already thinking of next year for SW 30th ! :thumbsup2 We are SW lovers and spend his visits on weekends re-watching all of the SW movies before we go. We concentrate on the SW shows and characters - LOVE watching the storm troopers march in the parade and interacting with them throughout the parks. Last year Luke was not busy in the morning and stood around talking to DNeph for over 10 minutes - he was so awesome and 'in character'!! I hope you have as much fun as we do - and be sure and let us all know how you liked it - we leave two weeks from today !!!

DF said the exact same thing. He loved it so much, I took like 30 pictures of it to make a t-shirt on zazzle with that as the logo instead of the official one.

Also, did anyone see the jacket they have with the Imperial Logo and the words "Star Wars Weekends 2006"? We love it, but it's 125 dollar or something outrageous like that. I don't usually complain about the price of stuff at Disney, but JEEZ!

This was our first time to go to WDW during SWW, except for the merchandise lines, I thought the entire event was very well done.......I've been to MNSSHP and MVMCP and consider SWW the best......it lasts all day, there's tons to do and you don't have to purchase a special ticket for it. :)

I love Star Wars and am planning on going either next year or in 2008 for SW weekends. I know there's not really much I can about crowds as there will be lots of fans there. When everybody is crowded into one section of the park, there's really not much you can do about crowds and lines even with touring plans since those work against the grain.

Belle Amy,
Did you notice if the BIG jedi Mickey figure was still available and if so how much? I just redid my DS 5 room in SW and was hoping to get one for his room.
Thanks!

Just a warning. Crowds have increased dramatically at WDW in the past couple of days. I would imagine a large number of those people will be attending SWW, so expect to wait for things.

If the Jedi Mickey Big Fig is sold out that was just the allotment with the special SWW stamp. The figure will be part of the regular line of Big Figs for a while. You can put your name on a wait list at the Animation Gallery if they are currently sold out. It looked really cool when Mickey's Light Saber is lit up. They are $150.00.

Also, keep an eye out on disneygallery.com. They will usually announce when things are set to be released in the art galleries at the parks. They will usually have a link to the waiting list to have the figurine sent to you once it is ready for release as a non-limited edition item.

My son and I were at MGM for SWW the last Friday they had it in June of '05. He was 7 at the time and a HUGE Star Wars fan. He was upset when all of the Fast Passes for character autographs and pictures were given out before we could snag any. I know.... you snooze, you loose. We were in the park about 9:30, but still missed out.
It was SUPER crowded and hard to see much. We didn't have a BAD time, but we didn't exactly enjoy the experience either.
We won't go again, so there will be more room for everyone who enjoys SWW.

To enjoy it fully, you'd need to get there early. I wish they would get some of the less frequent guests. The current batch they have appear widely on the convention circuit.

Next year, there will probably be a Star Wars Celebration again, but hopefully they'll get some of the bigger stars that show up for that. Carrie Fisher did it once, I hope she does again. She's very funny.

Last weekend, Rick McCallum confirmed that he's helping on some short films that will be shown at the next Celebration.

Carrie Fisher is hilarious!! I almost wet myself on the AFI tribute to George Lucas, she was so funny. But I could go on forever about that.

Monica31671 -- I'm sorry you didn't have the best experience. It's unfortunate about the fast passes, I know how you feel. I wanted to get a fast pass for Rick McCallum on Sunday, and they were gone by 9:20 or so. I was really disappointed, but they have so much stuff scheduled for the day, they have to only allot so much time for autographs. I wish there were more hours in a day.
