Anyone else think it sounds like WDW Call Center is having a party??

    Whenever I call the WDW Reservation Call Center, I have the HARDEST TIME hearing the cast member. I can hear the operator next to him/her, people giggling and laughing... everything. It's such a problem! I know it's not the cast members fault, but it's just bad.

    Anyone else have this problem?

    I just had this happen two days ago. The CM knew I could hear what was going on because she apologized to me. It seems they had just won a sales contest between the sales teams related to peak season bookings and they were apparently quite excited. She gave me some background on that which was interesting.

    I could hear that going on but I could also hear a CM that must have been sitting close to her talking to another guest.

    I'm glad to hear someone else say this - I thought it was just me!
    I call and find myself saying over and over "I'm sorry, I cannot hear you". They are always very nice and repeat themselves. Maybe they sit really close together?

    How funny! I heard this party too. At first I thought it was just normal background noise from other CMs making reservations, but then I heard shrieking and laughing... sounded like quite a bash!

    I think the background noise at the call center is awful. The other evening I called Disney Dining and for the first time in many, many calls to Disney, had a connection with no background noise. She said she also booked CRO (we were talking about the resort) and I'm wondering if I got lucky and got one of the work at home cast members.

    I had a hard time hearing when I called for my ADRs. I have a slight hearing loss in one ear which makes it even harder to hear them but it sounded like they were all sitting right next to each other with lots of loud talking in the background. I was surprised.

    They do sit close together, I used to work at the DRC in Orlando and we were practically back to back with someone else, and then other people right over the cubicles.

    It's really unprofessional, but like I said, it's not the CMs fault.

    i've had it both ways. more often than not, it's not that bad. but there have been a few calls where it's been exactly as described. i always considered it a center problem. though you're not supposed to know it, there are multiple call centers (one actually is in 'orlando'), but a couple are in other states altogether.

    The Tampa center also has everyone close together, from what I'm told (but in a different arrangment than Orlando).

    The best time to call is when it's not as busy, you won't hear as many other agents then!

    I have a friend who used to work at the Tampa call center, and they are VERY close together.

    Picture your "typical" office, with cubes. Takes those cubes in half, they don't go much over eye level. Cram a ton of people into a little space, and there you have it.

    It's a fun place to work though.

    I used to do space planning for call centers for many companies way back when...
    They try to cram as many people in those spaces as they can! Usually you are sitting at a 3ft long x 24" deep desk with a partition on each side that is maybe 30" deep. The partitions are also usually 5' to 5'6" tall at most call centers. THEN you only have a 36" to 42" walkway between your back and the person behind you. Most call centers have strict rules about background noise. Not the most quiet of places for customer service or to have a personal conversation, everyone usually hears everything.
