This may be a strange question!

We are a military family, and, for those of you that don't know, members of the military can designate their state of residence once they've lived in that state, and keep it regardless of where they live in the future. So, while we moved from FL in 2005, we remain FL residents (no state income tax ;) )

Anyway, we are have a Disney trip planned for August, and are wondering if we can get FL passes, as we are FL residents, even though we don't LIVE in FL.

Weird question, I know, but it would save hundreds of dollars if we could.

    Thanks in advance!

I feel like this is part of the snow bird issue, people who live elsewhere in the summer and reside in Florida for the winter. I think these people qualifiy for seasonal passes, Florida Seasonal Passes.
some black out dates but cheap to those who qualifiy.

I would say as long as your paycheck recognizes FL as your official state of residence you are FL resident!

Can't you buy special cheap tickets at the military travel office at the Base Exchange?

Just looked it up--they are better than non-FL tickets, but not as cheap as resident tickets.

Bottom line, what does your DL say? That's pretty much what they want these days to prove residency, a photo ID issued by either the state or a Florida college.

You can get Fla discounts and passes. I wouldn't go into too much detail with the representative - just show your FLA drivers license.

Also, check out the 3 day play pass - it is a very good deal.

I don't know if you can get Fla discounts on top of SOG prices. One advantage at staying at SOG is that it has a great buffet restaurant that is the cheapest on property - and you can only eat there if you are staying there (Military.)

    Have fun!:wizard:

Actually, I have a FL drivers license that has my VA address (I'd lost my lincense at one point and had it reissued. DH's license still has our FL address on it. So I wonder how that changes things?

Unfortunately, the SOG prices won't beat the FL seasonal pass. if we don't qualify for it, we'll go with the pass from SOG. Thanks, though!!

Yes, but if you buy your seasonal pass at SOG you don't pay taxes and it comes out quite a bit cheaper!

My parents own a vacation home in Fl so all of us got a Fl id with that home address. No problem at all, but you have to have a Fl id, with a Fl address.

actually, if you go to SOG you can get the FL resident price and also not pay tax plus a very small discount. They have the sheets showing the prices behind the counter. We've gotten ours there the last 3 years. We had a FL DL with Nebraska address.

We are military also and stationed elsewhere but Florida residents. Both of our Drivers License are Fla and I always explain we are Fla residents and reside out of state due to Military and have never had any problems recieving Fla discounts. You can also bring a copy of your husbands pay, not sure what Branch you are but in the Army we call it LES and it will show u are a Fla resident on that where it shows the box for state tax. Hope you guys have a wonderful and Magical trip in Aug :)
