any fish other than salmon?

    Help guys! I'm still trying to find a restaurant that my husband will truly enjoy...seeing that I'm dragging him to Disney :rotfl:
    He know's he'd like either crab or lobster,but we're also wondering if any restaurants had any type of fish, such as haddock, other than salmon. He does not like salmon. Please let me know what you have seen! Thanks! Oh, and I need it on the dining plan...thanks!!!

    Crab or lobster on the dining plan won't be easy. A lot of places have crab cakes and Cape May might have crab legs. As for lobster, the only choice is Narcoosees.

    I see ahi tuna in a number of restaurants but I do not know if he likes ahi tuna (I love ahi tuna)

    Two DDP credits or one?

    50's Prime Time: Uncle Charlie's Tuna Casserole (yes, I know that's not what you meant - but I could live on this food with the right add-ins ;)) and Grilled Fish of the Day
    Yak & Yeti: Crispy Mahi Mahi, Tempura Shrimp, Pho (protein is poached shrimp)
    Artist Point: Crusted Ahi Tuna, Pan-seared Scallops
    Big River Grille: Blackened Mahi-mahi sandwich, Mahi-mahi Oscar, Hazelnut-Crusted Mahi-mahi
    Boatwright's Dining Hall: Pasta & Shrimp, Blackened Redfish
    California Grill: Pacific Halibut, Pan-Roasted Grouper Fillet, Roasted Salmon, Scottish Salmon Fillet, Spiced Tuna, Day Boat Scallops (I left off the sushi because I'm confused whether it's included in the DDP :teeth: )

    I see market fish on the menu at Captain's Grill. Can anyone tell me what this is? Thanks for all your info!

    You can't know that until you get there, they might change the type of fish often and that is why they refer to it as "market fish." Same with "fish of the day."

    Here are some of my favorite *non-salmon* fish/seafood options in the World:

    Coral Reef: Grilled Mahi Mahi - topped with a spicy pineapple chutney over cashew-jasmine rice finished with a coconut rum beurre blanc.

    Coral Reef: Lobster Ravioli - with tomatoes, olives, capers, and shaved parmegiano-reggiano cheese.

    Coral Reef: Creamy Lobster Soup - chervil, brandy. One of my favorites.:lovestruc

    San Angel Inn: Mahi-Mahi a la Veracruzana - Grilled fillet of mahi-mahi served over white rice, prepared with capers, olives, bell peppers, Spanish onions, and tomatoes, seasoned with white wine and spices.

    Yak & Yeti: Crispy Mahi Mahi - filet of mahi mahi, Japanese bread crumbs, Cantonese sweet and sour sauce, jasmine rice, stir-fried vegetables***haven't tried this yet but it is on my list for Aug.;)

    Tutto Italia: Sogliano in "Tecia" - breaded filet of sole, lemon, caper relish

    Teppan Edo: Not fish..but has cold water scallops or shrimp (one of our favorite places for dinner:lovestruc)

    Kona: Tuna Oscar - served with fried green tomatoes, tempura-fried jumbo lump crab, and wasabi hollandaise.

    Kona: Miso Glazed Mahi-mahi - served with Asian noodles and baby bok choy

    Do NOT eat there. It's a terrible restaurant with extremely poorly prepared food!

    If you want very nice seafood, try BlueZoo.

    We had fish & chips from the Rose & Crown (England) @ Epcot. It was wonderful and it is cod. There is also a walk-up station. BTW - we had ADRs for 7:55 & watched illuminations from their private viewing area.

    Thanks countingmomma! That sounds EXACTLY what he's looking for! He can't understand why things on the menu are done up with all these extra spices and sauces...he says "can't anyone just cook me a piece of fish?" lol. And he's kinda picky when it comes to fish...he doesn't like grilled tuna or salmon, and that's mostly what's on the menus.

    The fish and chips at the Rose and Crown is delicious. Our favorite seafood restaurant at WDW is the Flying Fish at the Boardwalk. I had the potato crusted red snapper-- so yummy!! :cloud9: My DS12 loves fish but does not like any sauces so they prepared his flounder simply breaded. It is pricey (2 DDP credits) but is a nice treat. The Boardwalk area is also a great spot to walk around.

    Problem is, the OP is looking for Dining Plan restaurants :(

    They can, and will. Simply order whatever the fish is - mahi-mahi, tuna, sole, whatever - "grilled, plain".

    Respectfully, no. I got tired of transcribing ALL the seafood at ALL the Disney restaurants - but if you look at the link I provided, you'll see there are a variety of options. Even among the limited restaurants I did list, there's redfish, mahi-mahi, shrimp, scallops, halibut, catfish, and two 'fish of the day',

    The only place to find good haddock is WNY. We need to travel from central Ohio back to WNY 3 to 4 times a year to get a decent fish fry!:goodvibes

    There are lots of fish dishes in Disney and I noticed tons in Epcot. One night I ate at a Cs with fish and chips and BOY was that good. It def was not salmon. I could have eaten more fish and less chips but hey that's the way it goes. Seems like it was called YORK something or another. lol

    The OP did mention haddock but didn't specify that they were looking only for plain, mild white fish, apparently preferably fried.

    Raglan Road and Rose & Crown (plus QS options attached to both) will get you that. Both serve fried cod. Also, Garden Grill. They say sustainable fish of the day, but it will likely not be salmon or tuna. In the past it's been fried catfish but now they alternate fish types.

    Sanaa, for dinner. They have a "sustainable fish" entree. I tried it in December, and it still impresses the heck out of me. It was arctic char served on top of veggies in a light broth. The kicker was that there were a few shrimp and scallops tossed in for good measure.

    This has to rank among my favorite entrees I've had in a long time. And it's not salmon, so there you go. ;)

    I am an avid fish lover and order seafood regularly at restaurants. Because I do not eat red meat, I make my Disney dining reservations based on the quality and variety of other items, particularly fish. I agree with the original poster that salmon is overrepresented on menus. I enjoy salmon occasionally, but I cannot imagine eating it more than once during a vacation. There are hundreds of delicious fish to try! Why does salmon receive such special treatment?

    I have always enjoyed the grilled mahi mahi at Coral Reef and the crispy mahi mahi at Yak & Yeti. Both dishes are creative, tasty and relatively light. The tuna Oscar at Kona Cafe is also wonderful, but it is rich and heavily sauced, so it may not suit every palate.

    I always hear Cape May Cafe as a safe suggestion for good seafood.
    I've only heard good things about it and it has a variety of seafood, buffet style.
    In fact I was just reading a recent review of Cape May Cafe in my Celebrations Magazine and there was a nice write up about it. After that article I actually want to try it now where I never thought about it before!

    He can ask for any menu item to be prepared without the extras spices and the sauce on the side. You can also get the fish and chips inside at the Rose and Crown. We like to order it at the bar.
