Another Dates Question - October

Our last trip was Sept 30 - Oct 4, 2005, and the crowds weren't too bad, even with free dining, but the restaurants were packed. With free dining ending earlier this year, should that week be less crowded and easier to get ADRs for, even with the F&W festival starting. Assuming the free dining has a 10 night max again, I'm thinking that if we check in on Oct 3 - last day of value season, to get the better rate - we'll have a better shot of getting the ADRs we want, still have the warm weather that I want, and not have to deal with terrible crowds.

Has anyone gone that week in years where it wasn't included in the fall specials? Am I way off in thinking the crowds will still be pretty light?
