Day 3
Wednesday 16th September 2015
Part 1 – Crossing something off my Disney bucket list...
Hellooo day 3!
This morning we got up at 8:30am and went for our complimentary breakfast at the California Grill - the Paris edition.
Here’s my free breakfast, thanks Mickey.
And here’s our castle view of the day!
Seriously, these free breakfasts are the greatest way to start a Disney day!
(Hey, I’m a poet and I didn’t know that I was one.)
At 10am we were full and ready to hit the parks, so we headed down to the lobby (where I had to snap these creepy puppets because they’re awesome.)
We walked over to Disneyland and it was looking like a pretty rainy day. Good job we had our jackets.
The first thing we wanted to do was visit the REAL LIFE DRAGON, who lives under Sleeping Beauty Castle!
I guess by the look of this sign, the dragon is supposed to be Maleficent in her dragon form.
She. Is. AMAZING.
She sleeps a lot…
But occasionally she wakes up…
And she ain’t happy about being chained down.
SO cool.
We continued through the back of the castle and had a quick look in the Snow White store.
I love this store because it’s set inside the seven dwarf’s cottage and its adorrrrable.
While we were here we thought we may as well ride Blanche Neige et les Sept Nains.
AKA Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
It’s kind of similar to the old Magic Kingdom version, although the scenes are a bit different.
THIS monstrosity is the same though, this always terrified me as a kid.
Not any more though, I am an adult now.
Ahem.
Anyway.
Here’s some weird non-Disney looking animatronics at the end of the ride.
Next up, we rolled next door to ride Pinocchio!
I guess this is pretty similar to the DLR ride, although I’ve never ridden it so I can’t say for sure.
It’s just another cute ride-through.
It also contains some scary scenes that childhood Katie was terrified of.
Again, not adult Katie, no sir.
In keeping with the classic-Disney-movie-ride-through theme of this morning we rode Peter Pan again!
I love the loading area, it looks like the rooftops of London with smoking chimneys and everything.
After Peter Pan we decided we'd had enough fantasy for now, so we headed over to Frontierland to ride the family favourite – Big Thunder Mountain.
Unfortunately it started POURING rain while we were in line, so we had to prepare…
However, something awesome happened.
With this ride-through I managed to cross something off my Disney bucket list…
BE EVACUATED OFF A RIDE.
This might sound crazy, but I’ve wanted to be evacuated off a ride for ages
I had NEVER been evacuated before.
I just like the thought of having to walk backstage/behind the scenes.
The good news was, we only broke down right at the end, so we actually got to ride 90% of the ride.
The bad news was, we sat out in the rain in our broken-down train for AGES before we were rescued!!!
The wait was worth it though. I enjoyed walking back along the tracks and through the mine!
You know your Disney addiction is out of hand when you’re excited about a ride breaking down
