Just saw the expanded pictures on Tikiman's facebook page. I think the room is very pretty.... looks very tranquil and soft. I like it but I am not in love with it. Just looks as if it is missing something. There isn't enough island feel to the room IMO. It needs some pops of orange maybe..... I liked the old room decor better :sad1: BUT.....I am still crossing my fingers for a return trip to the Poly in Summer on 2014 :thumbsup2

I love Poly but I'm not loving the new decor. It won't stop me from giong back though!

From what I've seen of the old rooms compared to what was posted of the new, I really think I like the old better.

I agree with both posts above.

where's the Polynesian theming???

I was wondering the same thing .

Oh bummer. I don't think I like the renovations. :( Too contemporary looking for me. Not a fan of the minty green. Hate the bathroom. It's not warm and inviting.

The CR is what I thought of when I saw the bathroom pics.....the new decor is too contemporary and not even close to being tropical :(.

I feel the same way. The rooms are pretty, but the tropical look/feel is missing, IMO. We are going back to the Poly in December and I'm hoping to like it more in person, but it still won't change my mind that they should have kept a more tropical decor.

Hey everyone! Anyone have any updates on the Nanea Volcano Pool Refurbishment? I heard that it's not happening or has been delayed. Is that true?

Just looked at Tikiman's FB pics of the new rooms. The bed area is actually very nice , could use some more "Tropical" decor, I agree. Even some other pics???Whatever, just something that says "I'm definitely somewhere TROPICAL" ! As far as the bathrooms...the new shower tiles look so, ummm...ugly?! Wouldn't be bad for a casino hotel with a walk-in shower or something that can have a contemporary look, but not for a tropical=themed Disney resort. At least throw some bright floral shower curtains on them or something. The sinks...ugh! Not Polynesian IMO.:sad2:
But as others have said, maybe alot better in person. :thumbsup2

Ehhh:confused3 this is the best they could do? Don't hate it but....very bland, I agree, the bathroom looks like a medical clinic. The bamboo doors on the closet were nice. I still love the poly but I am dissapointed in this lackluster makeover.hope it is better in person.

I need to verify something. With the exception of Hawaii, garden and standard haven't been separated into two separate booking categories, have they? I was given this info but checking on tikiman, the FAQ on the first few pages here and WDW's site, it seems like the longhouse booking categories are still just TPV, LV and Standard (and Hawaii's are CL-TPV, CL-LV, CL-GV with Disney using the Garden designation to describe CL rooms only). Can anyone confirm? Thank you!

Steve - The pictures on your FB are great. Thanks to Ann for taking them and you for posting them. Can't wait to see the rooms for myself. But the bathroom seems really lacking. Aside from the really drab shower (someone referred to it as "medical" looking which is spot on,) and the lack of a shelf under the sink, did anyone notice that there is only one outlet in there and NO blow dryer on the wall? I don't ever remember having to take my own blow dryer to WDW. Don't all the other resorts have them?

I read on another site the hair dryer is in the closet.

At AKL the blow dryer was wall mounted but IIRC the ones at CR were regular dryers in a cloth bag. Usually thy will be either on a shelf in the bathroom or in the closet.

I agree. Love the fresh look of the comforter, but perhaps they could add pillows a little more tropical looking with palm trees or hibiscus? The bathroom is a bit sterile looking. Again, a bright shower curtain might help.

Saw the pictures on Tikiman's FB page. I love it, although I have to agree that it does need a little extra "tropical" feel/color. As someone mentioned, I think a bright, tropical shower curtain would really enhance the bathroom and maybe have more of a tropical curtain in the room? Other than that I love the new design so far, I can't wait to see more pics and most of all, see it in person. My DH on the other hand is not impressed with the new design, he prefered the darker look and does not like the new bathroom.

Hmm my take on the new rooms, pretty similar to all I wish there were some more tropical touches. I think the neck pillows are lame. I liked the old bathroom layout more, gave a little more privacy to the toilet area. That being said, I still like it and am so excited to go. Getting so close!

On a totally different subject... What can I expect from the GF construction. Is the pathway still open for running? Also is the fitness center there open? My husband runs every day even on vacation and I would like to run a couple of times if at all possible. Thanks!

Not that anyone was going to reply, LOL, but I do have my answer. Much thanks to the diser who PMed.

I like the refurb. I think it looks cool, restful and professional but not boring. And, if I want a dollop of the Poly kitsch and lushness, I can step outside. Then, again, anything has to be better than our last disaster of a room so maybe I am biased.

Can anyone comment on the differences in the CL dining area as compared to the previous one. It looks like set up is similar but new carpet and furniture. is the staircase railing new? any details you might see.

I cannot wait until June. I splurged for Hawaii just so I could be guaranteed a new room for 4 nights.:cloud9:

I'm probably strange but I miss the old room. I looked at tikiman's pictures and nothing really spectacular happened. LOL I don't like the bathroom- the tub tile looks like a hospital and the rest I just don't care for. The beds look too sterile- not enough color. Some palm trees would be nice. The room is brighter which is nice but it needs more oomph.
