"The advantage we have here is you will be getting off the plane, going across the street, picking up your car without having to get on a bus, and you're out," said Phillip Brown, GOAA's deputy executive director.

    My experience is more like

"Get off the plane. Queue up for 20 minutes at immigration. Get sent to the back of the queue because you have made a mistake on the green form. Go to collect your bags from the economy carousel. Stand waiting for another 20 minutes wondering where your bags are before realising they have been going around on the Premium Economy carousel the whole time. Go through and board the mono-rail and get stopped by the guard even though there is plenty of space and the doors are still open - and stay open for the next 2 minutes. Get off the mono-rail and search for your car hire desk. Queue up for 45 minutes at the car hire desk. Go to collect your car from the garage and realise your sat-nav is in the suitcase - one of them at least but you can't remember which one. Search for the sat nav. Realise that women are a bit strange when it comes to having their underwear scattered across the floor of the car park while you search for the sat nav. Find the sat nav. Start the holiday. At last. About 4 hours after the plane landed.

Somebody will be packing their satnav in hand luggage in future i assume......

I make sure it's fully charged, and put it and the windscreen cradle in my laptop bag, and the charger in the main luggage - that way all i have to do is pull it out stick it on and off we go.

45 mins at the car hire desk? Look into the express type memberships that are free - no avoiding the immigration queues, but the car hire queue can be cut down to 5 mins or less. last time we arrived strolled up to the empty queue for the Dollar Express desk right past the hour wait in the regular lines... and a 20 minute wait for our car to be brought over from the other terminal turned into "They're express members." *hangs up phone* "5 minutes and your car will be ready, sir"

Back on topic (i digress), it will be a good thing, but may push pricing up as the rent may well increase:

The wait time was the first time we had gone to Florida. We learnt a lot during that visit and consequently joined Dollar Express as soon as we got back to the UK

Fab -that sounds great! Notice they ask for credit card details - do they take any money out of your account?

Nope, it's just to save time at the counter. Instead of swiping your card etc at the counter they have them on file. It's all part of the 'express' idea - that way if you upgrade, buy fuel, optional extras etc at the airport they can just charge it to your card if you wish (they will always ask first before doing it).

    Booo!

I LIKE my bus journey and seeing my name on the electronic board on the bus.
Not the same walking across the road :headache:
