When we saw The Lion King on IMAX, I thought the Aladdin trailer gave a date of 1/1/04 or something for the Aladdin IMAX release.

However, I've seen no promotion, and just checked Disney.com and didn't see any reference to it at all.

So, I checked out a few other sites, and it seems that nobody is sure what the deal is. Jim Hill answered a question about it on his site by saying he was guessing the marketing budget had been cut, and that the film would still be released on 1/1/04. However, he speculated that unless Aladdin performs better than The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast, the IMAX release of The Little Mermaid will be canceled.

    Few questions:

Does anyone know anything about the Aladdin IMAX release? Is it still on, and if so, for what date?

When I saw the trailer before Lion King I thought the release date was 12/25 (like Lion was). I just recently started my Christmas shopping and was planning on pre-purchasing some tickets for my family through IMAX's website only to find out that there is currently no release date other than JAN 2004....so add me to the list of "he who knows not what the heck is going on."

The IMAX web site has it listed mid to late 2004.

I emailed IMAX and was told: "Alladin is not distributed by IMAX Corporation, but by Buena Vista Pictures. We do not have any further information for this film."

Who else could I contact to get an answer?

maybe they will make this the Soarin' movie. You can pretend you are on a magic carpet instead of a hang glider
