A step back in time becuse I don't know when my next WDW trip will be

So I'm going to start posting pics and some things I remember from my past WDW trips if anyone is interested I will keep posting.

The first trip is from February 13 - 19 in 2006: report begins here.

The beginning of the trip Day 1 - February 13 2006

First some history behind it at the time of it I was working at the local Hockey area and there was abrek in the schedule because of both the NBA all star game and the Olympics that year so I decided to take the opportunity to get away for a little bit. I had previously had a family trip back in 1998 when we stayed in the Treehouse at the Disney Institute. This would be my first sol venture to the world.

My Day began by flying out in the morning once I landed I took the Magical Express bus to Port Orleans French quarter. After checking in I took a walk around the resort and left my carry on stuff in my room as it was ready when I arrived.

I took the last one to give me an idea of how to find my room which was on the backside of the building pictured.
My first park was EPCOT before the wand came down.

Next I took a walk around World Showcase and got some pics of them setting up for Illuminations.

I don't really remember much of what I did in between probably got on some ride and took in some other attractions. Once night had fallen the torches were lit around the lagoon and it was time for what has become my Favorite Disney fireworks show.

I got some pics of the inferno barge doing it's thing before I decided to savor the show as it was my first viewing of it in person.

and then one of the Earth barge floating out.

Once the show was over I made my way around the Lagoon taking in the Tapestry of Nations music that plays after the show is before making my way out of the park and back to Port Orleans French Quarter for the night

Day 2 First full day at WDW Solo. _- February 14 2006

This day began with breakfast at Chef Mickeys I was seated in the are under the Monorail tracks.

After Breakfast I made my way to the Monorail and headed to the TTC to get a bus to Disney's Animal Kingdom well I was waiting there I realized I could have gotten one at the Contemporary, but I wanted to take a trip on the Monorail.

This was my first time seeing Animal Kingdom as when I went on a family trip in 1998 it was still about a month away from opening.

I stopped and got some Photo Pass photos before entering for the first time.

Forgive my look in this picture it was early in the day. I was actually happy to be there.

This ones a bit better.

After walking through the oasis I got my first view of the tree of life.

according to my pictures on my flickr account I went to the railroad first but I think I probably went on the safri first and just savered it so my first view of it wasn't through a camera lens.

I took this picture because I had remembered reading about the touches they were incorporating into the railroad in the well it was being built in Walt Disney's Railroad Story by Micheal Broggie. This one apparently lost it's head lamp when it ran into a water buffalo or something like that so they put the skull of it on the front of the train in it's place. Another Engine has a bicycle on it incase the train breaks down that driver can ride back to the station to get help.

After coming back from Rafiki's planet watch I took another lap on the safari probably with a fastpass I had picked up earlier.

Note that the cast member has a heavy jacket on and if you compare it to what i was wearing earlier it often led to questions of "aren't you cold?" The answer of "no I'm Canadian," was usually enough to make them laugh and realize i wasn't it then would lead to a conversation about it being below zero when I left home.

Day 2 Continued Safri Pics

I like how they themed it to a preserve that had been there since 1971.

Well I was there this time they were doing some maintenance on the regular path so they created aback story about a tree falling in the road as to why we had to make a detour.

After the safari I stopped by the Pangani forest trek to see he Gorillas I always like watching them both here and at the Toronto Zoo here at home, I love how human they appear to be some times, apparently we share 99.9999% of our DNA with them or something like that.

Either on my way in or on my way out I got this magic shot from the photopass photographers. I don't actually know when my photopass pics got taken for this trip as the only info given on the cd date wise is just the date. I've noticed over the years that a time stamp also appears with the file.

After I left Animal Kingdom I made a quick stop at the gift shop outside the park as I saw they had sun screen aand picked some up as I had forgotten to bring some from home.

I think I took a bit of abrek at my resort room before heading to Epcot that night to catch my favorite fireworks show. The only pics I have are a couple of Photopass ones.

I think I may have taken video of Illuminations that night but I don't know what I did with the file for it

Day 4 - Mk Day - February 15 2006

I arrived just as they were cleaning up from the opening show and the Walter E Disney was pulling into the station.

I made a quick stop at the hub to get some photo pass pictures in front of the castle and the Partners statue.

Next up was my first attraction of the day.

It's one of my favorite movies so I always try and check it out everytime I'm in the MK at least once per trip.

I took this picture of the waterwheel and bucket system for water delivery because Walt apparently designed it for the film when he visited the set where they were filming the treehouse scenes.

After that I headed over to frontierland with possibly a stop at pirates. My intention was to ride splash mountain for my first time however it broke down well i was in line for it so I grabbed a fast pass for Big Thunder as I wanted to ride it to and figured it was a good excuse to get me back to there to ride Splash Mountain. After getting my fastpass I took a lap of the park on the Railroad.

The engine pulling my train was the Walter E. Disney Engine #1.

Eventually I made my way to Mickey's Toontown Country Fair and well I was on the path to Tomorowland I caught Engine # 3 The Roger E. Broggie (The Walter E. Disney and Roger E. Broggie are referred to as twins as they were built side by side each other in the Baldwin Locomotive works in Philadelphia ,Pennsylvania and have construction numbers one number off from each other. Engine #1's is 58444 and Engine #3's is 58445.)

Next up picture wise was small world it had just finished having a rehab a couple months before I had arrived when they changed out the facade to be like Disneyland only inside.

Later in the day I made my first trip to the now closed Adventures Club.

This was taken just after the annual balderdash cup presentation.

I had to exit after this show as I had come in well they were doing a free preview but then returned after purchasing a ticket. I took some pictures around the main lobby area before the next show.

The clubs all purpose theme song hanging above the Colonel who is always on duty unless he is called upon during the new members ceremony and the Hopla.

Here you can see more of the lobby with Zeus fishing or "God with a Rod".

My night ended after the Hoopla was over during the final show of the evening there weren't a lot of people in the room for it and the club President sat at the table I was sitting at until she had to get up to do her part for the Hopla.

The Next day would be another day at the MK not sure if I planed that or it was just the first bus that came.

Day 5 - MK again - February 16th 2006

Today was another day at the Magic Kingdom not sure when I arrived but at some point in the morning I went over to Tom sawyer Island and got some pictures from there.

Later in the day I found a spot at the hub to watch the afternoon parade, Disney's Share a Dream Come True Parade (aka the snow globe version, this one was actually in transition to change it out so some of the floats may be missing)

Day 5 Continued

After the parade I made my way back to the resort for a bit and took some more pics of the area around it.

I think this last picture was roughly where my room was on the top floor.
And now for some pictures inside the room.

That looks to be it for February 16th most lilley I ended up at Epcot again for Illuminations or maybe returned to the MK

Day 6 -2nd last day at WDW another day at DAK - February 17th

This morning on my way out I took a picture out from tof the resort with the DME bus arriving I wasn't leaving until the next day.

This morning was breakfast at Boma in Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge.

After Breakfast and taking some pictures around the Resort I headed over to Animal Kingdom again.

After looking around Asia for a bit I took the wildlife express again.

After Returning i took another ride on the Safari but before I took a picture of the shop just in front of it because I liked the name of it.

Day 6 DAK - Mickey's Jammin Jungle Parade

I found a spot on the bridge to africa where I could watch it and got a picture of Everest in the distance, well I was there they were doing testing of it before it opened I didn't ride it then and still haven't been on it yet.

Day 7 - Disney MGM Studios day - February 18 2006 - Final park day of the trip

Today began with me going to the Studios today you may notice I put the old name in the chapter title. I used it since that's what it was called then. I began by getting some photopass pictures taken.

Next I headed to Star Tours.

Followed by Muppet Vision 3D.

Next up was the backlot tour.

I took this picture of the original park Icon the Earful tower which is a replica of the one they have in the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank.

Tire storage for Lights Motors Action in case your wondering.

Walt's Plane apparently the last time it flew they landed it on world drive very early in the morning so they could put it on display at the Studios, apparently it took a ton of red tape and permission from MCO to do it. (FYI MCO is in charge of the airspace over WDW.)

Day 7 - Continued

The sub from the life Aquatic of Steve Zissou great movie with Bill Murray.

The Helicopter from the same movie.

The red spacecraft thing is from the Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy movie and the stone thing was from the Hunted Mansion movie everyone pretends doesn't exist.

After that I headed over to see Lights Motors Action the pictures I took were from two shows (yes I like it) as I stopped taking pictures part way through the first one.

After that I went to go see the other stunt show the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular.

A little later in the day was Fantasmic.

After that I high tailed it over to the MK for SpectroMagic my favorite night time parade and for wishes.

It looks like I didn't take any pictures of it this trip. After that I headed back to my resort.

Day 8 - One last morning at Epcot and departure day

My flight home was scheduled for later in the afternoon so I had the whole morning plus dm to a mess up on my part I had an extra dinning plan credits (I had intended to use two credits for the hoop dee do show but didn't let them know I wanted to use them so got charged for it.) so I spent some time at EPCOT that morning. I reprode spaceship earth and also picked up a photopass CD from the camera shop and got a shot for the Leave a legacy monuments . Also I got a walk up for lunch at Le Cellier. After Lunch I departed back to my resort to catch the Magical Express bus back to the airport and went home until my next trip that would only be a few months away in August of 2006 (I kind of got a little crazy that year)
