A little off topic- Atlantis questions

I know there are alot of DISers that are knowledgeable(sp?) about the Atlantis resort. My DH's company is sending us there for 5 days off kid free fun!. We have been married 22 years and this is the first real trip without the whole family. We leave next month and I was looking for some tips and usefull info about the resort.

Atlantis has a fun website - check it ought. (Sorry - I am not technically cabaple of posting a link. I always Google'd on Atlantis.

It is a beautiful facility, had great-expensive shopping. In the casino - there are some beautiful glass sculptures.

Some friends of mine went there a couple years ago and thought $200/day for the meal plan was too much. They ate a small breakfast for $60 and then decided the $200 was going be a lot cheaper.

Yes be prepared to pay for food... when we there my DS wanted some ice cream and found the ice cream shop. We changed our mind after we saw the price, and if I re-call correctly it was $6 for a single scoop.

The Atlantis is one of my absolute favorite vacation places. I'll be glad to answer any questions, - just PM me.

A few general thoughts:

While food is pricey at the Atlantis, there is a shopping center about a block away. Anthony's Caribbean Restaurant is there as well as a small grocery store for soda, snacks, etc. If you enjoy walking, it takes about 30 minutes to walk over the bridge to Nassau for Outback, Pizza Hut, etc. (or just grab a cab). Next door at the Sheraton are other less pricey restaurants. We've always enjoyed Murray's and Mama Loos - two restaurants located on Atlantis property.

If you like to snorkel, take your own equipment. The snorkeling lagoon on Atlantis premises, is a nice way to spend an hour or two.

I was there last month and am heading back in April! You can eat cheap for breakfast, there are a few muffin spots there. Lunch is nice outside by the pool, there are several locations. I like the off-site dinner ideas.

There is a casino, movie theater, lots of shopping, a comedy show. During the day, there are a million outdoor bars by the pool, live music, water slides, a really nice health club, and a beautiful beach. You can rent many water activities there. You will have a wonderful time. Have a blast!!!!
