A Guide to Taking it Easy at WDW. Oct 2014 Mother/Daughter Trip Updated 3/6x2 The End!

That's really disappointing to read that. TH has always been a favourite of mine because of the wide selection of food. :(

First, I was very upset they got rid of the Krispy Kreme Donuts. Yes, they had the donut holes, but I want the WHOLE donut. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

It just didn't seem they had as much out, they didn't seem to have as much in the way of food that "kids" would eat (those that are not adventurous), and a lot of it was cold. We could have caught it on a bad morning, but we've gone three years in a row, and we're going to give it a rest for awhile (we always do Crystal Palace every year and may try Cape May again).

I think I can cope with the no KK donuts; but to have less variety and a lot of cold stuff....well! That's a lot of money to pay for a cold breakfast that you could be having in your room.

I hope CM works out for you.

This is a GREAT picture of the flags. Love it! :good vibes

I really love all your pictures from AK. It's my favorite park to photograph and you got so many lovely pics. Also - great pics of the bats! I think they are so super cool.

Fun lunch at TH and great pics with the characters. Glad you enjoyed your lunch.

Yay for a trip to the dark side. I tried to do a non-disney trip last time we visited and then Disney went and released that super cheap 4 day DVC ticket. Darn Disney - you always foil my plans to go off site. I would definitely be interested in reading about your experiences!

:yay: you made it to your ADR on time. Boo you had to wait 15 minutes past your time. Great pics of you and Mom out front; I still don't know why they took Donald out from there. :(

We've only done breakfast at TH (a couple of times now) and we were very disappointed with it in June. There just didn't seem to be as much of a selection. I don't know if we'll ever try lunch because we like Yak & Yeti so much (after Flame Tree in September we won't be back...my ribs were awful and Mark can't eat chicken).

LOVE the pictures with the characters. I do like being able to see Daisy at a meal.

Oh, I'm one of those that is always at least 20 minutes early for a meal. I'm just too paranoid to be late! That's too bad that TH and Flametree have been bad for you recently. I've never had the ribs at Flametree but the chicken has always been delicious. Jim loves the pulled pork sandwich.

I'm glad it was a good meal, love all the character pictures! You're right though, Pluto should be there! I never thought I'd like Tusker House because of the food options, but I'm glad to hear that there's a good balance and that there is at least something for everyone to enjoy!

I was a little worried going into the meal with my pickiness but I was pleasantly surprised at the options available. Pluto should be at every character meal in my opinion. ::yes:: :rotfl:

Yay Tusker House! This is my favorite character breakfast out of the ones I've done. Now that they are getting a character dinner soon I want to try that next.

I did read that there would be a character dinner now. I'm guessing with the night show added they are hoping for more dinner crowds. I did like TH but still prefer Chef Mickey's and O'Hana (breakfast) since my Pluto is at those two.

I love a Tusker House meal. It has so much variety (at least during the times I've been) that it usually is a hit withe everyone in my family. So glad that you found things you liked to eat.

And its a great way to meet the characters; even if Pluto was MIA.

It is a great character meal! Mom and i ended up doing 3 character meals which is 3 more than we usually do. We had a lot of fun with them this trip.

That flag photo is one of my favorites from the trip, I love the way it turned out. AK is definitely a great park to photograph. Only three more days till we head out. I can't wait to see the new Harry Potter stuff at Universal and Jim is about bouncing off the walls about Legoland.

Step 15: Take a Two Week Long Safari

I bet you can guess where we headed after lunch by the title of this installment. We had our last FP+ for the Safari from 1:25 – 2:25. We finished up lunch right about the time that our FP was available. It wasn’t long at all before we boarded our two week long safari.

We were in the front row (which kind of sucked because it was harder to see) so I tried for an artsy photo I’ve seen in other TRs.

[/URL]

This was probably one of the worse Safaris we have been on in terms of seeing animals. Plus I was on the wrong side of the truck for a lot of them. That being said, you still know I took lots of pictures. I’ll shut up now and let you enjoy the animals.

And that’s everything I got. We barely saw any giraffes and didn’t see any Lions or Cheetahs at all. I think this was the first time ever that I was able to fit all of my Safari pictures into one post. I think it was the heat plus early afternoon hours that had the animals all hiding or sleeping. Oh and did you notice the ominous clouds in some of those pictures? It was supposed to start raining around 3 pm and not stop till the next morning.

OK, that last post is a bit of a mess but I give up trying to fix it. Apparently you can only have 20 images per post now so here are the last two that I originally had in that post.

Yep, no idea how I managed to make that last part a hyperlink to my photobucket account. I tried to fix it about a dozen times but could not figure it out. I also played with the pictures to try and figure out how to not have that "URL" at the end of each picture but no luck there either. I have everything written out in Word including the picture links. On the old board all I had to do was copy and paste, correct some spacing and add my color and size. I'm not sure if there is a different why I should be posting the pictures. :confused3

ETA: Oh, I just figured out how to take the hyperlink out! There's actually a button at the top to unlink. Still can't figure out the URL problem though.

Great photos! Yes the new Dis is taking some getting used to and all the features are not fully running yet they said they will need about a week to get everything fully running.

So glad I found this since we are staying at POR for the 1st time and our 1st trip. You've eaten at a lot of the places we want to try.

Nice elephant pictures.

I'm full of admiration that you got an update posted on the new board. I'm going to work on updates at the weekend. Figured i'd want to get used to the changes first; and then thread updates later.

I think we are both on track.. it's the same pretty much, needed to know where and what the new buttons all were!

Doing a great job!

Great safari pictures. Yes, I'm still having troubles with this. I'm fearing when I do my next update.

Love your elephant photos! Bummer about the lack of certain animals though.

We did get to see a lot of elephants but that was about it. It was a bummer but I wouldn't want Disney to change anything to make the animals stay in the areas. That would loss the whole feel of the safari.

Great photos! Yes the new Dis is taking some getting used to and all the features are not fully running yet they said they will need about a week to get everything fully running.

Thanks! It is taking some getting used to but I think I've finally figured most of it out. The only thing I find super annoying is the time stamp at the bottom of the post. I'm hoping they might move it back to the top.

Welcome! Thanks for following along. Feel free to ask any questions about the resort. Are you staying at Riverside or French Quarter? I stayed at Riverside in May 2014 and that TR is part of the "Rock On" one that is in my signature.

Nice elephant pictures.

Thanks, at least we got to see some Elephants. I was determined to stay on my "schedule" for posts that nothing was going to stop me. It took me a while but pretty much every feature that was available before is still there. It just takes a few minutes to figure out how to do it with the new board.

Thanks. It took me a while but I think I have everything figured out now.

Step 16: Take Yet Another Stroll Through the Jungle

Despite the ominous clouds rolling in, we decided that we wanted to visit the Pangani Exploration Trail to see the gorillas and Meerkats. Half of the trail was closed for renovations so they had everyone going into the exit. We were able to go as far as the Meerkats and that was it. The Hippo area, the bird sanctuary and the Okapis were closed off. We still got to see the Columbus monkeys first because they are at both ends of the trail.

We came around the corner to the glass fronted area and it was packed. We soon figured out why.

Yep both of the baby gorillas were out! One of the CMs there told us they were both males but Disney would not be announcing their names for a while. I’m sure all you care about is more pictures!

Even though we could have stood there all day, we moved on to let other people get a glance. We moved on to the Meerkats which are my favorite so be prepared for a bunch of pictures.

At that point, we had to turn around and go back the way we came in order to exit. We did not stop again as the areas were pretty crowded. It was about 2:30 pm and the next item I had on our agenda was Festival of the Lion King at 3 pm. But boy did the clouds look bad. Mom didn’t want to get caught in the rain and since this was her trip, we called it a day and headed towards the exit.

SO cool that you got to see the baby gorillas! Adorable!

Ah I love the meerkats too, they are so fun to watch.

Sorry you didn't get to see FOLK. Hopefully you made the right decision and beat the rain!
