I just popped over from reading your TR, I loved it. I really enjoy hearing your perspective on things. I also loved the history lessons. :)

I'm going on a trip with my mom in Sept/Oct, we will celebrate her birthday then and then in December we will celebrate my 40th at Disney. :woohoo:

How funny how many of my readers seem to share the same birthyear as me! :goodvibes A trip to WDW is the beat way to celebrate a birthday! :thumbsup2

I hope that trip to WDW will be a bit less stressful than your last one!

Great, we will need to talk about plans at some point in the future! I hope we will be "Germanic" enough to impress you and the guys. ;)

I am quite surprised as well! When I started my first PTR I was a bit anxious wether I would find anyone willing to read it. But it looks like this won't be an issue this time. :goodvibes Great to have you here!

I will have to check out your new PTR! And that reminds me that I need to work on my signature and bring that up to date...

Well, if you end up going to Germany, you know that I will be happy to answer any questions! :thumbsup2

Hi Wendy and welcome! I hope that I will get around to start telling some tales soon! Hope you are still improving from your illness!

Welcome Tanya! I just noticed your new signature line, I really like it! :goodvibes

Hi Camille, great to have you here! The balloon picture was a favourite on the TR and Katharina and I like it, too. I think it captures the reason for going to WDW for my 40th: what other place can you still be a child at that much? :thumbsup2

    :welcome:

DLP was fantastic, but it will take me some time sort through the more than 600 pictures I took...

Yes, I am quite amazed how popular I have become - I am just glad that my thread isn't moving at the same speed as Liesa's. That would be scary!!

Hi Kleese, great to have you along!

It's great to hear that someone goes back and reads the old stuff! :goodvibes Thank you!

The book I was referring to was published in 1993 and talked about how bad the food at DL and WDW was then. I remember that in 1992 Katharina and I were not impressed at all with the fast food sold at DL. And I have been reading WDW online discussions for a very long time and it seems that counter service food only improved at WDW after 2000. I think places like the renovated Sunshine Seasons which opened in 2005 and Flame Tree BBQ which opened in 1998 were examples of improving variety and quality in WDW food.

In 2009 WDW was offering a lot of manages money if they would leave the company voluntarily before they then started to lay off many people on the manager level. One person who took the money before he possibly could have been laid off was the guy responsible for all food services. The story about it was in the Orlando Sentinel here.

I have no idea who is in charge now, so who knows which direction WDW will go in the future...

The quote Kleese had from above was about WDW food being so bad and DLP food being supposedly so good. But things have changed since 1993 quite a lot. I can tell you, QS did not impress us this time in DLP either...

Interestingly, the guy I mentioned above, started his career at DLP before going to WDW. So maybe the food was really great when the parks opened but due to underperforming from the beginning they just had to up their profit margin on the food. I think now people just expect food to be bad at DLP. :confused3 We had some very nice TS meals however. :goodvibes

Hi and welcome!! Great to have you along! Your TR is one that I always intend to read, but never find the time to start reading it... I really hope that writing the PTR will be less time consuming than the TR so I will have more time to spend on other people's threads. :goodvibes

Thanks for all the welcome backs! It will take me some time to sort through all the pictures... I guess you will get a PTR update before DLP updates will start.... You still need to know about all our plans for WDW! :thumbsup2

Hello and welcome to all readers! I can't believe my first appearance on our PTR is on page four.... But work (again) has been very busy before the trip to Paris and after the trip and on friday I developed a nasty sore throat. I feel better today so I finally caught up with the Disboards.

I'm looking forward to share our impressions from DLP and plans for WDW with all of you!
