60th Anniversary Celebration - When Does It End??

I'm seeing a visit to my DS in Calif in my 2016 spring/summer future, now that I've read about this 60th Diamond Celebration!!!

But of course it's all about seeing my DS, first & foremost, not just the DL 60th celebration event!

(added in case DS is lurking on these boards....)

For the 50th, we went in August 2006 and it was still going. Maybe not to the extent it was at the start, but still going nonetheless. I wouldn't doubt they'd have this one stretch out at least one calendar year if not more.

I have read that they have shelved the Christmas fireworks and parade, so it seems it continue into next year.

Any update to when this celebration ends?
Does anyone have the dates the 50th lasted?

I recall seeing a video clip where they said it would last 18 months. I just don't recall which clip.

As far as I know, there still hasn't been any official announcement indicating an end date for the 60th anniversary celebration. The only thing with a specific end date so far is the Diamond Days Sweepstakes (ending on September 11, 2015). As others have said, the current guess is somewhere between 12 and 18 months. While they haven't said for sure, most folks are pretty sure it'll last at least through next Spring (i.e., a minimum of 12 months). The thread linked previously, What to Expect for DL's 60th Anniversary, is the best place to keep an eye. Once an official end date is announced, someone will post it there.

According to DisneyGeek.com, the 50th Anniversary Celebration kicked off on May 5, 2005 and ended on September 30, 2006, but they did note that things like the parades and fireworks ran for considerably longer. At this point, it seems likely that Disneyland Forever, Paint the Night, and WoC: Celebrate will last well beyond the official end of the 60th Anniversary Celebration.

I hope its still going on April 2016 :)
So far none of the guestimate's have indicated anything less than a year for the 60th anniversary celebration. I generally think, baring some unforeseen disaster, the celebration will last at least on year (i.e., at least until the start of the 2016 summer season).

It's worth point out that while the official celebration (e.g., the decor, merchandise, etc.) will be ending sometime in 2016 (most likely), the fireworks (Disneyland Forever), parade (PtN), and WoC (Celebrate) are likely to last long beyond the end of the official celebration. So at least those will still be available for guests arriving in the later part of 2016.

Hi, Figment --

Any guess as to whether they'll be having Fantasmic, Paint the Night and the fireworks on weeknights around September 18-25?

Thanks!

Assuming this year's schedule for nighttime entertainment is similar to the past, I would guess that F! and fireworks will only be on weekends (Fri, Sat, and Sun) evenings. At this point, no really knows what the plan is for PtN, but (and this is a big guess) I would tentatively guess that it will be presented daily (except perhaps on nights when MHP happens, assuming the party remains in DL) just because it's been getting such good reviews and seems very popular. While fireworks have also been getting reviews and are popular, DLR is constrained on the number of nights per year when they can present fireworks due to agreements with the City of Anaheim. So my thought is that limitation will still be in place.

So....the best guess right now is that the 60th celebration will last until at least summer 2016? I sure hope so. Looks like we aren't going to be able to go this year as I had hoped. :(

I've seen the term "18 months" floating around here and there online, which might imply that things come to an end right before summer 2016, or maybe right after. I don't know how accurate that is -- some people think that the 60th's festivities will be going on throughout all of 2016.

I don't even really know what would 'end' at the 18-month point. I am fairly certain that both Paint the Night and Disneyland Forever will continue on in some capacity (albeit, probably on a reduced schedule as compared to now) well beyond 2016. World of Color -- Celebrate.... who knows? That has not been the huge hit that was hoped for, so that one might end much, much sooner than anything else. Maybe the Castle would go back to its normal state and the blue bunting and diamond accents would come down by summer?

I'm pretty sure the Diamond Celebration will run through summer 2016, and end when Halloweentime begins. Disney doesn't do 18-month celebrations anymore because the Halloween and Christmas seasons have gotten so popular. This year they are shuffling seasonal entertainment around in order to maximize the new offerings. I also expect major infrastructure work to commence once the 60th celebration ends. But not before.
