Wow and booooo! I would give it a few more days before rescheduling. Sometimes those bugs just pass (no pun intended) and sometimes they linger. Good luck and I hope everyone feels better!

I'm sooooo sorry! The good news is that it's usually pretty fast to get over. Both of my dds had this last week and although my youngest had it so bad the dr almost put her in the hospital for dehydration, they both got over it within 3 days. I hope you have a wonderful trip!! :)

Oh I hope it's over soon. I started getting sick Friday nite and I'm still not eating much of anything as of this morning. And my coffee doesn't look too good right now either...

Stomach bugs usually pass within 48 hours, so I'd hold off at least that long to see if they start to improve. Good luck!

So sorry!!! I hate the stomach flu! I've all ready had a version of it twice this year and I agree to wait just a bit. Both times, the gross part of it was usually over in a day and a half, and I was feeling like myself in about 3 days! So hopefully it will clear up! Good luck and I hope you don't have to reschedule! :wizard:

That happened to us in Feb. My son and my DH both got the flu about 6 days before we left. They were both better before we left for our trip. I hope it's the same for you guys!!!

Ride it out!! I think you'll be ok but you better be careful that you don't get it too.

My 1year old had a 103.8 fever the day before we left for our last trip. She tends to get high fevers (gets it from me). I was worried and thought about cancelling our trip but we went. It turns out it was just a cold with a runny nose and she was fine. We had a wonderful trip.:flower3:

I agree that I think you'll be ok. Be glad that it's happening now and not the day before your trip (I know it's hard to be glad, though).

I think the worst case scenario is your kids might be a little weak from dehydration/lack of food at that time. So the first couple of days you should take things very slow.

Use gatoraide and pedialyte...works wonders for us. Lots of salty foods while they're recovering. And do everything you can to let it run its course so it's done and over before your trip.

Best of luck! My son was 1.5 the first time we took him and we had to leave a day early he was so sick with the stomach flu. Luckily, we were 3.5 hours away from Disney so it wasn't a terrible ride home. I feel for you.

We had the same yuck over the weekend. It took 2 days and then it passed. Like PP said make sure you have gatrorade and pedialyte. One other thing that the Doc suggested this last time is to stay away from Dairy and greasy foods for 48 hours after the last "episode".

    Good luck!

One more thing, be happy you got it at home and not at WDW ;)

We leave in 9 days and DS just vomited 15 minutes ago for the 1st time. He's only thrown up a few other times in his 4 yrs of life. I think something was bothering his stomach and he's feeling better. I'm watching him like a hawk though and I don't think we're going to soccer practice today, but not sure. I'll be giving him Gatorade through out the day and not making him eat anything since he has been saying he doesn't feel like eating. If he hasn't thrown up by dinner time I think I'll try some applesauce or crackers.

I think your kids will be just fine in a few days. I definitely agree with the poster that advised Gatorade and Pedialyte too.

Our baby has been in hospital 2x over the past month - pneumonia, dehydration and recurring ear infections, and I just read through some of the literature on dehydration, and it's recommended not to give infants/young kids Gatorade or other sport drinks as they are formulated for adults and can actually throw off their systems. All literature that I read absolutely said infants/kids should have Pedialyte only as it's formulated for their bodies.

Hope your kids feel better soon, Tiger

I actually agree. I put Gatorade in there also because I wasn't sure how old her older children were.

But I absolutely agree with Pedialyte for the very young. My children would never drink Pedialyte and my Dr. approved Gatorade as an alternative when my children were about 3-4 years old.

You can also try Pedialyte popcicles. Those my kids would eat, but sometimes the fact that they were so cold would upset their stomachs again.

I do agree that pedialyte is best for young children. Some children, however, won't drink it.

In January, my then 15 month old had horrible diarrhea that lasted 10 days. We avoided all dairy, did the brat diet but it just wouldn't go away. The worst part was that she did not want to drink ANYTHING but water which is the worst thing a child with diarrhea can drink.

We were at the doctor 3 times in a week and a half and they basically said to get her to drink anything she would drink. I tried soda, iced tea, gatorade, pedialyte, popsicles, and anything else I could think of. She wouldnt touch it.

Finally I found a gatorade that was almost clear so it looked like water. I mixed it with 1/2 gatorade and 1/2 plain clear pedialyte and that did the trick. This was days after her not drinking and being so worried that I couldn't eat or sleep myself.

If I had stuck to only pedialyte, I think she would have ended up in the hospital with dehydration. All I am saying is that sometimes things are not black and white and sometimes you have to bend the rules a little.

Sorry to get off topic. I am sure that your little ones will be ok and you will hae a wonderful trip.:flower3:

I feel your pain as we leave on sunday and all 4 of us are sick with nasty colds. :( And dd9 came home from school and said that two classmates were out today with the stomach bug - ahhhhhhh! So we have been washing our hands lots and hoping everything else stays away!

Hope your house is healthier soon!

You are all so sweet!!! I did end up getting it too. Good grief! I'm feeling better this morning but very weak. DS seems much better, the girls still look puny. Hoping & Praying DH doesn't get it too. I have SOO much to do this week and all the extra laundry isn't helping one bit! :laundy:

Thank you for all your kind words! It sounds like it is going around everywhere! Hopefully 48 hrs from now I won't be worrying about anything but last minute packing. I'm going to splatter the house w/ pixie dust and hope for the best! ;)

Hope you are all feeling better. All four of us had it over Easter weekend  The throwing ended for the kids after about 12 hours and only about 6 hours for myself and DH. We didn't eat much for a couple of days, but we were OK. Look at it this way - at least you had it BEFORE you left and not while you were in Disney. So much easier to do laundry at home and no one likes being sick like that in a hotel room!

My kids won't touch Pedialite. It was gatorade or nothing. Everytime my DD tried it, she gaged again. My DS flat out refused after trying it once. You would think they would do something about the flavor if so many kids refuse it. I tried everything - making it into ice cube pops, cold, warm - nothing worked. I gave up and let them have gatorade.

Have a GREAT trip!! Hope everyone is feeling better!!!
