Yeah can't believe it's only 79 days until the cruise. It seems like so far away but I know with the holidays and stuff coming up it's going to breeze by so quickly.
I linked the tickets up from Undercover Tourist through my disney experience online and now they are linked to our reservation and magic bands. So cool! Now just to wait for my FP+ window to open up! (I have 26 days left, and no I have not made a plan on what FP+ to pick).
Only 15 days until Star Wars! LOL I am soooo looking forward to it. Enjoy your holidays!

I am always reluctant to do things like buying tickets on another site for that reason. But I hear good things about undercover tourist. Now I know from someone first hand. The holidays will help pass the time as well as Star Wars coming out. I don't know if you have ever seen the movie Fanboys. Its all about a group of Star Wars fans. You'll have to check it out if you haven't. Its pretty funny. Anyways, I look forward to the rest of your PTR. You are awesome. Keep it up!!

Yeah soooo many new updates happening all the time. Did you hear Backlot Express is now serving some of the same items they had at Rebel Hangar? That is really great news as the food was so yummy and now there are more options to eat at DHS which is always a good thing!

Nope, didn't know that either, but great news! The Rebel Hangar food we had was all great. I think you are going to have to be my new Disney news source, as I just can't keep up with everything else.

Undercover tourist worked out really well. We saved some money which is always good and the linkage was very easy. Now let's hope the tickets actually work when we're at the turnstiles of the park, bwahahaha.

ONE WEEK UNTIL FORCE AWAKENS! I have not seen Fanboys but I totally want to watch it now. I will have to check my netflix to see if they have it.

DH's 40th Birthday and The Force Awakens...12/18/2015

I know I've been neglecting this PTR for a while, but with the holidays and family commitments let's just say I've had very little time to be doing anything else! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season!

Can't believe we're almost at 2016! Which means we're very close to our trip now!! In fact...today was the 60 day mark! I did make all the FP+ (I didn't even get up early) and I got everything I wanted. But that is for my next post. In this post I just wanted to do a little recap of DH's 40th birthday which also happened to be the opening day for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

We didn't have time to jet off anywhere but I planned a little staycation in New York City at the luxurious Park Hyatt New York. We stayed for a night in a junior park suite and it was sooo awesome. The hotel is beautiful and the room was bigger than any apartment I've stayed in during the years I've lived in New York City.

Here's the view from the living room of the suite:

There were 1.5 bathrooms in the suite. It was great! This picture is of the main bathroom. Sorry for this wonky-looking picture. It didn't quite come out the panorama I wanted it to be.

There were separate rooms for the shower and the toilet. The toilets were those fancy Japanese Toto toilets which have built in bidets. A BIDET! Oh and there are radiant heated floors...such a luxury I sadly don't get enough of.

This pic is a bit dark because the lights were off, but here's the bedroom view:

We didn't have much of a view though since we were on a low floor and you'd have to be above the 30th floor for a view of Central Park. It's ok though, as we had this amazing pool complex to use:

It's my favorite part about this hotel! There's also a jacuzzi and steam room next to the pool. It's never crowded and we spent some time before dinner and the next morning at the pool.

We watched The Force Awakens that afternoon at the IMAX theater near Lincoln Center. It's the only true museum-quality IMAX in the NYC area. We used to live a few blocks from that theater, so it was OUR theater for many years. I thought it would be nice to return to our old neighborhood to watch the most anticipated movie of the year.

And here's DH at the theater! It was all reserved seating, and it was surprisingly calm at the theater. Maybe because it was during the day (we saw a 2pm show).

Steve was wearing a Star Wars t-shirt but you couldn't really tell because he had a coat and a sweater on!​

AMAZING!


It was a moment I was waiting for for a very long time...I actually started to cry the minute "Lucasfilm" blazed up on the screen. Yes, I was one of those people who did this:

I wasn't the only one. I was in a huge theater full of fans. There were lots of clapping, whooping, and cheering. I was happy to be part of the revelry. I know a lot of people are staying away from this movie for the first few weeks so that they wouldn't have to see the movie with rabid fans...but really, we are all quite tame and it made for a fun time in the theater.

I really enjoyed all of the movie, especially the cast/characters and the directing. I knew it was going to be good, but this was exceptionally good! Exceeded my expectations! Now, how long do I have to wait until Episode 8 comes out?!?!?

Later that night (after we went swimming in the gorgeous pool) we met up with some friends for a birthday dinner at Fogo de Chao, this Brazillian churasscaria with a great salad bar and AYCE grilled meats (think Ohana taken to the next level). It was delicious and we were so full we had to roll out of the restaurant.

After dinner we all went back to our suite to chill and enjoy the surprise champagne and cake the hotel left for us!

It was a great day and DH was so happy he got to spend it watching the movie and having dinner with friends. It was the perfect kind of day for him!

The next day in the morning, we had breakfast at the Park Hyatt, and it was some of the most scrumptious breakfast food ever!

My green juice as well as other table condiments. They gave us fresh fried donut holes too!

I got pancakes and they were really good.

DH got the most decadent dish...a baked polenta thing with mushrooms, arugula, poached egg, and seared foie gras. Amazeballs!

After the morning swimming in the pool, we checked out of the hotel and then it was back to NJ. But it didn't matter as we were seeing The Force Awakens again that night with my sister and her husband. Sooo excited!!​

Happy Birthday to your hubby!!!!!!! Mine was 40 on the 19th so we have our selves some sort of 1975 Sagitarious twins ; ) Though I'm a bad wife and sent hubby off to watch Star Wars by himself. Don't judge ; )

I can't wait to finally see Star Wars. Seeing it with fans is one of the best parts!! I'll have to make time to go out with my wonderful wife. She keeps me from nerding out to much in public. LOL. Having a new baby makes it a bit tough to get out. But I am determined to do so. I can't wait to hear more about your upcoming trip and FP+. Its going to be an epic trip!

Sounds like an awesome birthday! That hotel room is amazing. We like to stay at a nice hotel in downtown Austin every now and then, but it doesn't compare to NYC. The movie was fabulous! We saw it on xmas day, and there were still a few people, besides us, even that late in the theater clapping and ooohing and aaaahing. I bet seeing it the day of was great. We only saw it in 3D, but I think we are going to try to see it in "fake" IMAX 3D this weekend. We only have one true IMAX, and it's not even as big as the IMAX in Ft Worth. They don't always show first runs, because it's part of a museum. We have a couple that are "fakes".

It was an amazing once-in-a-lifetime experience. I wanted to sleep in the bathtub all night. It was that pretty.

I know!!! I love anything that JJ Abrams touches, so I'm a bit wary of the next two, but I think Rian Johnson who is directing Episode 8 will give a very interesting feel to the movie. In the original trilogy I loved Empire the best. I tend to like the middle films of trilogies more than the beginning and ends. (The Two Towers, Catching Fire, etc), so we'll see if Episode 8 beats out Episode 7. It'll be really tough to do though since it was soooo good.

I think you should see it in every format. When the hobbit movies came out I saw it in 3D, 3D D-box (where the seats move with the action), 2D, and IMAX. Yeah, it might be a bit to much but when you love it go for it. You can just add cruise line to the list of ways you have seen it. Thank you for the comment about my son. He is adorable. He is growing so fast. But don't get me started on that. I could talk about that kid forever. Although I'll say this, I can't wait for his first trip to Disney next year. Its going to be AWESOME!
