Hi!! I'm relatively new to posting on the Disboards...but wanted to say hi, and I'm following along! I've read your past PTR and TRs and love them! Can't wait to see your planning, and then hear about this big trip for you!

Happy anniversary! Have an amazing time in Hawaii!!

Thank you! I sure will! Can't wait to be on the beach again. The last time I was on the beach was Castaway Cay...it seems so long ago!

I can't remember if you already booked Morimoto or not. Reservations are available online as of this morning. I was able to book March.

Thank you! I checked and I found some ressies for March too! It will be hard giving up California Grill but I am ok with saving it for another trip...

Hi!! I'm relatively new to posting on the Disboards...but wanted to say hi, and I'm following along! I've read your past PTR and TRs and love them! Can't wait to see your planning, and then hear about this big trip for you!

Hi! Thank you and welcome! Yeah...this trip, it's gonna be epic, I hope! Thanks for following along!!

AKKK! I need to come back here tonight and catch up on this one!

Book of Mormon! I love that show! I love it even more for being a completely original idea and not yet another musical based on a movie!

I just kept trying and trying...

...and finally, after 2 hours...I got what I wanted :cheer2:

Yay! So exciting! I don't think I would have had the patience to deal with that. :rotfl:

we'll be jetting of to Hawaii to celebrate in full! We'll be on Oahu for a week, staying in a condo in Waikiki. I'm looking forward to a week of laying on the beach, eating, swimming, and lots of fun! Stay tuned for a mini-TR!

Can't wait to hear about it!! Sounds absolutely amazing.

They are ADORABLE. Just. too. cute. :flower1:

What a fun way to celebrate your anniversary! I LOVE The Book of Mormon (Hello!) and have seen it twice. With your fantastic meal, it sounds like you had a red-letter day!

I hope you're having/you had a wonderful time in Hawaii! :goodvibes

On a funny note... while watching Disney World clips on You Tube (what? Other people don't do this?! :confused3 ) the commercial playing prior to the clips was an advertisement for the Star Wars Day at Sea on the Disney Cruise Line. Each time the clip played I thought, wow! I know someone who's going on a Star Wars cruise!

Know is perhaps a strong word... :rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao:

First and foremost, happy anniversary!!!!! Looks like you all had a great day.

Here's one of the courses we had, a foie gras brulee with an apple jalepeno chutney. It was delicious!

OMG this looks like an amazing little foie gras ice cream sandwich. That restaurant looks and sounds amazing. May be traveling to NYC for work early next year, so will have to remember this.

After lunch we went to see a Broadway show! We saw The Book of Mormon which was incredibly raunchy and absolutely hilarious. It's not for everyone though. Think South Park humor x 100.
Love this show. It came through DC this summer and I don't think I'd ever laughed so hard. Utter south park musical perfection.

We don't usually do anniversary gifts. We'd rather just save our money for a nice trip...so in just a few days, we'll be jetting of to Hawaii to celebrate in full! We'll be on Oahu for a week, staying in a condo in Waikiki. I'm looking forward to a week of laying on the beach, eating, swimming, and lots of fun! Stay tuned for a mini-TR!
OMG!!!!!! Hawaii!!!!!!! Totally eclipse Jean George ; ) Hope you all have an amazing time. I can't wait to hear all about it.

hat's Eva on the left, she's 3, and Caylee on the right, she's 2. Their mommy's are twin sisters! (Chunkytwin1 and Chunkytwin2 if you've read one of my past TRs)

They are precious. Way to get the disney gene engrained in the early : )

Chunkysis joined in on the fun too!

Of course she did, can't stay away from a character pic ; )

Sounds awesome huh? Except for the price tag. 99 bucks! But I guess it includes dinner and an open bar, which would be fine when I was younger and drank a lot but nowadays I don't drink that much and unlimited alcohol would be wasted on me. So, I'm probably going to skip this event.
I had the exact same thought as you. Sounds good on the surface but my 40 year old self eclipsed open bar a long time ago.

Hi, Su-Lynn!!! I finally made it to your PTR! I am DEFINITELY following along your upcoming adventure! I just finished page one and I'll post as I go along!

1. LOVE that you're staying at the Poly DVC Studio room. We have never stayed at WDW, but that is sure on my bucket list.
2. I love that CS is joining you on Fantasy. I agree that the 3 of you will appreciate the extra space. On Fantasy we had the Deluxe Family Oceanview (w/o verandah) and we LOVED it!!! The pull down bed is cool, but may be difficult for you to go on the balcony when pulled down.
3. I love your tentative plans. Steve must have been ecstatic when you told him he'll get to experience F & G again.
4. I totally appreciate your love for food and different posts from the restaurants. Just read my posts about Palo brunch and you'll agree!
5. I don't know if I mentioned this before, but I am so inspired by you and your sister's clothing choices. I am so used to shirt and shorts or shirt and pants. I love the idea of a casual dress and shirt and skirt! You are both my inspiration. You can tell CS I said that!
6. We won't be going to Star Wars at Sea so I can live vicariously through you! Ha, ha, ha!
7. Please tell CS that I have loved all of your character pictures and PP pics. I love and appreciate how she wants to get all the characters. I think that's my DD8 as a grownup!

Today is our 7th Wedding Anniversary!
Sorry I'm a bit late, but happy anniversary! :goodvibes

so in just a few days, we'll be jetting of to Hawaii to celebrate in full!
I can't wait to read the mini-TR!

This is Lanikai beach on the windward side of Oahu:

Gorgeous picture! We visited that beach last time and hope to get back for a bit more time there next time. So pretty.

They were so cute, and they finally are at the age where they realize what Halloween is and what it is to trick or treat!
Izzy was the same this year - finally seemed to "get" Halloween/trick-or-treating. She had a blast!

Hope Hawaii is amazing! :beach:

:beach:HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, Su-Lynn and Steve!!! Hope you are having an awesome and relaxing time in Hawaii!!!

I love your pics! And very jealous that you are off to Hawaii!! That villain party does sound fun but yes, pricey...it would be ok if you didn't already need park admission on top of that but...that is ridiculous.

AKKK! I need to come back here tonight and catch up on this one!

Yay! Good to see you here Lynn!

Book of Mormon! I love that show! I love it even more for being a completely original idea and not yet another musical based on a movie!

I know, really really funny. We really enjoyed the show.

Yay! So exciting! I don't think I would have had the patience to deal with that. :rotfl:

I was about to lose mine!

Can't wait to hear about it!! Sounds absolutely amazing.

It was, thanks!

They are ADORABLE. Just. too. cute. :flower1:

Thanks! They are!

What a fun way to celebrate your anniversary! I LOVE The Book of Mormon (Hello!) and have seen it twice. With your fantastic meal, it sounds like you had a red-letter day!

Thank you! We had a great time! Miini TR to follow!

LOL, I know what you mean, sometimes I feel like a KNOW people on the DIS too, ya know? Even though we've never met. :grouphug:

First and foremost, happy anniversary!!!!! Looks like you all had a great day.

Thank you!

OMG this looks like an amazing little foie gras ice cream sandwich. That restaurant looks and sounds amazing. May be traveling to NYC for work early next year, so will have to remember this.

It was delicious! Nougatine is definitely a nice way to get a piece of Jean-Georges without the dress-code or price!

Love this show. It came through DC this summer and I don't think I'd ever laughed so hard. Utter south park musical perfection.

It was soooo funny. We really enjoyed ourselves!

OMG!!!!!! Hawaii!!!!!!! Totally eclipse Jean George ; ) Hope you all have an amazing time. I can't wait to hear all about it.

Thanks! Mini TR to follow!

They are precious. Way to get the disney gene engrained in the early : )

LOL, yes you can count on us to get them excited about Disney!

Of course she did, can't stay away from a character pic ; )

Haha, she even had the perfect dress!

I had the exact same thought as you. Sounds good on the surface but my 40 year old self eclipsed open bar a long time ago.

Seems like fun - but mostly for the meeting with the characters. I could take or leave the dinner/open bar. :)

Yay! Great to see you here! Thank you for the kind comments!

1. I'll be sure to write all about it! So excited to stay here!
2. She is over the moon about it. I think CS will most likely stay on the pull out couch bed for the exact reason as you said...the pull-down bed will block the balcony!
3. He is one of those people that does not care about the planning part. He's excitement gets going when he's actually there. So far, he's been completely ok with me planning everything. WhenI told him about F and G, he's like ok cool. But that's about it, haha. He'll get excited when he's there in person though!
4. Yes agreed! I saw your Palo post and it got me really excited to go back for brunch again!
5. Thank you! LOL I'll let her know. My key is wearing skorts - those skirts with tennis shorts built-in. So it's very comfy and you won't have to worry about being indecent. Also a sundress on a hot day is easy and cool. :thumbsup2
6. Haha, yes please do!
7. Thank you! I will!

Sorry I'm a bit late, but happy anniversary! :goodvibes

I can't wait to read the mini-TR!

Thank you! It's coming soon!

Gorgeous picture! We visited that beach last time and hope to get back for a bit more time there next time. So pretty.

It's such a pretty beach...sigh. :beach: wish I was back there right now!

Izzy was the same this year - finally seemed to "get" Halloween/trick-or-treating. She had a blast!

How cute! I love this age when they are able to communicate well and understand concepts but still have their baby cuteness.

Hope Hawaii is amazing! :beach:

Thanks! It was :)

:beach:HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, Su-Lynn and Steve!!! Hope you are having an awesome and relaxing time in Hawaii!!!

Yeah the villains party...think it's one of those things I'm OK with missing. (and that's rare!) :rotfl:

I see you did replies yesterday! Does that mean we get a Hawaii mini-TR soon? Looking forward to it! :cutie:

Mini Trip Report: Hawaii November 2015 Part 1

Hi everyone! We just got back a few days ago from our trip to Honolulu, Hawaii. It was a wonderful trip. I didn't plan too much but we did eat a lot, got a nice tan, and explored different areas of Oahu.

Us at the airport, waiting to board our flight to Honolulu:

3gcFlxociN4nWv2xXj02PXKzYyohsk_FGs5nBSC03oivP3x-ugYoL-D93Q80kqbTV56AlqgnjZolIIFgdF770mHEun3lHy7GI3XMpG4KRNZA4BZ3dI6KVrVsPZr4jHIMbhM-eRBEPhe9TMMO48B1hg9U9iDjV-2ZZ0Udw7IktY9olGX-0Dj1tLPI4B6wysYOKxWU-2rGJdJsVKHoBHe10mc4uAcIX8SwWxWJfTL_r-gxZyhi0sg_YcUX4q6YVOGqLAhK6J-hI_trOwIN9eVvBAG--lhjkdZWeqiuR5FH9knPAIj0cZ27iXKSuvRrJlInKmwIKQ2dVWjaj1e6OaVrst_qJrfjI-5SrTvfr6wkePLymVA5j_us-bCMVFt6wk2boZ13CwbyfUm-FV5Aa4EGewqGPoJ-cp2ZRQCs56v-czTk_weOqT7H1CvGGRYfVeeONrM3MV5qqfIY75YueD0lRa5NLE10wVbjzMlyOec_JdOeWb4BiAU0OdUnrSZfr5X0wgx74tL_rnGRaZlX4i6ss0wc2psaIg4Uk_rJnTDoizqy=w858-h643-no

We didn't get to visit Aulani because it was pretty far away from where we stayed and I felt that would need a few extra days by itself so maybe on our next trip we'll get to stay there again!

I tend to not book many tours or activities in Hawaii as we like to explore on our own. We rented a car and drove around ourselves. Steve did get to try surfing, finally, after talking about it for some time, and I took a sunrise photography tour which was really fun. We ate at many places on the trip, lots of new restaurants and some hole-in-the walls which were really good! I ate plenty of fish and seafood which is so fresh there! Plus we went on a "living with the land" type tractor ride on the North Shore to see how some organic produce is made. We also hiked close to 1000 steps up a mountain...I'll explain soon. :)

Us on the beach:

We stayed 6 nights in a condo on Waikiki Beach...but then on our last day we found out our flight was delayed for 17.5 hours!! I got a notice on my phone so we didn't even bother to go to the airport. I found a hotel for one night using points, and we just stayed an extra night and went to the beach again. It was actually really nice and I wasn't frustrated at all. There are worse places we could have our flight delayed. LOL.

Here are some pictures of the condo "Nalu Lani" we stayed at for 6 nights. I found it through www.vrbo.com which I often use to find vacation rentals in Hawaii. It's cheaper to stay at a condo than a hotel plus we get a lot more room for the money, a full kitchen, and a parking space which itself costs a lot of money in Waikiki. These pics are from the rental agency. We arrived at night so I didn't get to take pictures and by the next day, our luggage and stuff was everywhere! But I must say the condo did look just like the pictures and it was very cute and spacious!

image_101907074.jpeg

This is the link if you'd like to check out this condo on your next vacation. I do recommend it. It's located at a quieter end of Waikiki and is a couple of blocks to the beach (it's quite close). The building complex is large though so many units. We didn't really have to wait long for an elevator either (we were on the top floor). We had great views of the whole of Waikiki and Honolulu, plus a partial ocean view. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need, except for a dishwasher. If you are going to be cooking a lot then I would just keep that in mind.

So I thought I'd start out with some highlights of the trip. First up...beaches! Then move on to food, and then other activities we did during our week-long stay!

Here's some pictures of Waikiki Beach. Even though we stay in Waikiki, we don't tend to visit the beach a lot as it's usually really crowded. However, it's great for people watching, first time surfers (lots of lessons happen there), swimming, and just getting in the beach mode! The waves are very gentle which is great for kids too.

When we found out our flight was delayed, since we didn't have any real plans, we watched the sunset from Waikiki Beach. It was really pretty!

We visited one of my favorite beaches on the east side, Lanikai Beach! It has beautiful white sand and blue water. The wind was really crazy on that day though! Great for windsurfers, not that great for laying out as your stuff kept blowing everywhere.

To get to this beach you have to park your car on a side street then find an alley that takes you straight to the beach.

Those 2 islands you see in the background are the Mukuloa Islands. You can actually take a kayak or canoe out there and land on the island. It's pretty scary to kayak there though as the waves can be pretty rough. Trust me, we tried on a previous trip and I kept thinking our boat was going to capsize.

Halona Cove, taken from a lookout point a few stories up. You can climb down a set of rocks to get to the beach. The surf was pretty high so I'd be very careful about swimming here in the winter months. Just breathtaking to see though!

On the North Shore we visited some beautiful beaches. This one was a favorite. It's called Hukilau Beach and it was really lovely, with barely anyone there. Waves were a little rough that day but it was beautiful just to enjoy the sun and sand:

We also visited a slightly rockier beach. It's not great for swimming or laying out but we heard it's the new place for sea turtle basking. It's called Haleiwa Ali'i and it's in the town of Haleiwa on the North Shore. They were setting up for the Triple Crown of surfing there, but we ventured to the far side and saw a lovely sea turtle basking in the sun!

Loving the mini TR, Hawaii is just so beautiful. We haven't been in 14 years  our trip next year was between the DCL Alaskan cruise or Maui...I hope we made the right choice lol

Can't wait to read more of your lovely adventures!!
