We have previously sailed on the Magic and loved it. We were in a one bedroom and would like to do the same for our next cruise. We are going to take a 4 night in March, 2014 and looked at both the Magic and Dream. I was surprised to see that the Magic was $1000 more than the Dream!

I'd love to see the refurbishments and my youngest would sail the Magic in a heartbeat if we could guarantee our server from the first cruise! :) My oldest is enticed by the the Aquaduck. I am torn. My husband is pretty much indifferent, but the thought of saving $1000 is most enticing to him.

    Any thoughts?

Just a thought--you are comparing a one bedroom to one bedroom, right? The Dream has concierge level family cabins that are not suites (they are like a cat 4 with concierge services). On the Magic, the lowest level concierge cabin is a one bedroom.

Honestly, I can't explain the price difference otherwise. I would have thought the Dream would be more since you have the concierge lounge and the new technological features.

Yes. Both are one bedrooms. The Cat V was even less. I'm scratching my head... :confused3 It has me thinking that the refurbishments must be pretty major.

We've sailed both and I was just commenting this morning, as much as I liked the Magic, there were things about the Dream I missed. The Aquaduct is cool. My son loved the kids club on Magic better. I enjoyed dinners on the Magic better as they seemed less formal and more fun. If you've done the Magic and not the Dream. I'd go Dream to experience it AND the money portion would be my decision maker. I don't think you'd regret it at all.

Personally I much prefer the one-bedroom suites on the Magic to the Dream. I love having the verandah right next to the bedroom on the Magic (the verandah has doors from the bedroom and the living room); on the Dream, the living/dining area separates the bedroom from the verandah. Also, I really liked the master bath set-up on the Magic, with the three separate areas (vanity/walk-in closet, jacuzzi/double sink, and shower/toilet). Did I miss not having a concierge lounge on the Magic? Not enough to make me choose the Dream class one-bedroom's over it.

If you haven't yet tried the Dream, and it is $1000 less, then I say go for it! It's a great ship, and something new. Maybe there are more one bedrooms available on the Dream, and it is a supply/demand thing? Just double-check that the dates are the same. Have a great cruise!

Where are you seeing the $1000 price difference between the 2? I just looked at all the sailings in March '14 on the Dream and Magic. The Magic is cheaper on all sailings and categories.

The pricing for the 9th/10th makes no sense when you compare the two ships. The royal suite is 11K on the Dream and 7K on the Magic (2 adult booking).

I don't know which to tell you--I prefer the Magic, but if you haven't done the Dream, you might want to do that.

Gotcha! Sorry, didn't mean to imply anything, just curious.
We actually prefer the Magic over the Dream, but that's our opinion!

I would say try the Dream since you've never been on it, it might be more exciting!

Bizarre. Maybe there is a glitch? This is the current pricing for 2A/2K

    Magic 3/10 1 BR = $5,616.88 * 2 BR = $7,456.88 * Royal = Royal $8,336.88

    Dream 3/9 Cat V = $3,728.88 * 1 BR = $4,640.88 * Royal = $13,640.88
