Have we heard anything on if a 24 hour day will happen this year with the 60th anniversary??

Not yet...based on the past, the most likely guess would have been May 22, but given that it going to be the kick-off for the 60th anniversary, it seems less likely that they'd have the 24-hour event on that day as well.

I hope they have it :) I just moved back to LA this week and want to finally experience it since I always missed it before. Challenge accepted.

I'm hoping they have it again this year, but at this point, I'm not sure when it would be. I went last year and it was a lot of fun!

A 24 hour day to kick off the 60th Celebration, why not? Kick it off with a bang and it sounds fun, right? But as I think of it more, May 22 will be busy to start with, and having the parks stay open for 24 hours will bring a lot more guests into the parks, so maybe not such a good idea. (just my opinion :) )

I think it would be a lot of fun too, but I'm not sure if they'd want to take the focus away from the 60th anniversary kick-off with a 24-hour party (which is an event by itself). I know there have been rumors about a 60-hour party or maybe having a 24-hour event at some other point in the year. I'm curious to see how it will all play out this year.

The more I think about it, the more I believe Disneyland will have a 24-hour event on July 17. It falls on a Friday, so why not. These events originated with the 25th anniversary back in 1980. I think it makes sense.

I personally would like to see this happen because I plan to be at WDW until July 16th, and Disneyland on the 17th. If they do 24-hour event, I'll stay at WDW an extra night to do a 1-day pilgrimage through all six US Disney parks in 1-day. It's will be the ultimate Disney bucket list item for sure.

I hope they don't it on the 22nd. We were planning to go on the 20th through the 23rd but with the madness of capacity crowds and park closures associated with the 24 hour event, we will have to have to pass.

I remember hearing something about a long hour party to go with the 60th, so hopefully it does happen! Maybe even the weekend before the 60th starts to kind of go with the reopening of all the reforms.

Disney World announced their 24-hour day already. The Parks Blog said DLR's announcement would be coming out later this morning. So keep an eye on the Parks Blog for the official announcement!

diamond-celebration-may-22-23/

The all-day/all-night celebration will begin at 6 a.m. on Friday, May 22 and will conclude 24 hours later at 6 a.m. on Saturday, May 23. The event will include dancing and special character encounters at locations in Disneylandand Disney California Adventure parks, along with enchanting Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration décor throughout the resort and, of course, the shows and attractions that our guests love.

Here’s a look at what is coming when the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration begins May 22:

  • “Paint the Night” Parade – After dark, along the Disneyland park parade route, 24-hour event guests will be among the first to see the new “Paint the Night” parade, showcasing beloved Disney characters in dazzling parade scenes illuminated with more than 1.5 million individually controlled lights – the first all-LED parade in Disneyland Resort history.
  • “Disneyland Forever” Fireworks - Disneyland park itself plays a starring role in the “Disneyland Forever” fireworks spectacular, also premiering during the 24-hour event. Breathtaking fireworks shows have long been a Disneyland Resort tradition and “Disneyland Forever” soars to new levels, immersing guests from the tips of their toes to the brilliant pyrotechnic bursts above, thanks to special effects that turn the storefronts of Main Street, U.S.A., the Matterhorn and the facade of “it’s a small world” into gigantic projection screens filled with color, characters and surprises.
  • “World of Color – Celebrate! The Wonderful World of Walt Disney” – Award-winning actor Neil Patrick Harris and Mickey Mouse will be the hosts of the all-new “World of Color” show, premiering May 22 during the 24-hour event. “World of Color – Celebrate!” illuminates the night in a fun-filled and inspirational journey exploring Walt Disney’s decades-long legacy of memorable animated moments and his dream of Disneyland park.

Neither the Southern California nor the Southern California Select Annual Passes will be valid on May 22. There are no more blackout day tickets available, so buying a single-day ticket would be necessary for those pass holders to enter the parks during the 24-hour event.
