I stopped at the front desk and immediately received a credit.

Thanks! So what exactly should I say when I ask for it? "I read on the DISboards..." just sounds a little strange! any advice? Thanks again!
"Since a refrigerator was listed as an amenity, would I be eligible for a credit?"
Perfect...thanks. Ill definitely give it a try in the morning. All they can say is no, right!?
I would just change the last part.
"Since a refrigerator was listed as an amenity, I would like to receive a credit".
I was told no at first when I asked too nicely. If you are still told no, but you feel strongly about receiving the credit, then ask to speak to a manager.
Is AKL affected by the fridge issue?
Yes, only AoA suites, FW Cabins and DVC guest rooms weren't affected.
Let us know how it went - we check in later this week and I'm wondering if they are still giving people the credit.
I just don't get why some cm's happily give out credits while others say no, all at the same resort. As long as you booked the room before the announcements about the fridge recall was made (sometime in July), you should be able to receive a credit.
I received a credit without hesitation when I asked exactly how I suggested.
That's great! It should be that easy for everyone.
I stopped by the front desk before the parks today and asked about the credit. The CM (who was "earning her ears") and the trainer were very nice and said they'd be glad to look into a credit. After looking on the computer, they said I was not charged for a fridge (aren't they standard now?). When I clarified that it was an amenity that was listed and not received, he then offered me the $15 credit.
So...I did get it but I definitely had to ask and push just a little. But they were very nice about it.
Good for you! Persistence pays off!
I was all ready to ask for a credit, and lo and behold, we have a working fridge at All Star Movies! (Toy Story section)
Hopefully there will be one in my room next week. I will be at All Star Music. I will mention the credit but with the amount of left overs, I really want a fridge. My daughter works at Disney but is staying with me and I normally pack leftovers for her for lunch.
Here's our scenario... We're driving down, mid October and staying at POFQ.... 9 nights and if no fridge, we will ask for credit, we booked in December 2012.... I'll make a run to Lowes or Walmart and purchase a mini fridge for our stay... We could use the fridge at home for our camper... But hoping all fridge issues are resolved by when we go..!
Staying at POP and had no trouble getting the room credit yesterday. Looks like I get to buy more souvenirs! (Don't tell my husband)
Checked into CBR last night, two rooms, one had a fridge that said do not use the other had no fridge at all. Stopped by concierge desk and got $15 per night credits with no issue.
We were refused the $15 per night credit at All Star Movies resort. At check in we were told we would have a fridge because virtually all of the rooms had been replaced. Sure enough, we didn't have a working one. We just checked out yesterday (9/14/13). We were there for 7 nights. We were told that we could have used ice (which we did on our own anyway). I'm not even making that up. I was not very happy overall with AS Movies. This just added to it. We won't be back to any of the AS resorts.
Does anyone know where the official Disney announcement regarding the $15 fridge credit is? I mean, is it in writing somewhere? What date was it announced? If it was so standard to give this credit when asked for, I want to be compensated as well. I don't understand why we were refused... I remember the rep's name as well. He even asked his manager.
