Great reviews! You will be happy to know that Pinnochio's Village Haus now has cheese pizza flatbreads! I forget when they converted but it must have been after your trip.

The next day, we slept in a little, then split our leftover cupcake for breakfast. ;)

After relaxing at our resort, we headed into Epcot for a couple of last rides and our lunch reservation at Les Chefs de France.

We started out with a diet coke, a capuccino and the warm baguette that they bring to each table.
This was good, slightly crusty and served with butter.

For a starter, we ordered the cheese board.
This was good, with nice accompaniments including some walnuts, golden raisins and grapes. We enjoyed all the cheeses, although the blue cheese was very strong (and DP hates blue cheese) and one cheese that was far too stinky for either one of us.

Even our French server giggled as he described that cheese as being too stinky even for him.

For my lunch, I went with the salmon with red pepper puree and mashed potatoes.
This was good. The potatoes were very dense and a slight bit dry for my preferences. The salmon was very good with a nice light crust to it and very good flavor, light tasting for salmon. There were places that were a little overcooked and a bit dry, but nothing that would stop me from ordering it again. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the pepper puree. It had a good bell pepper flavor and really complimented both the fish and the potatoes.

DP ordered the gratin de macaroni.
I enjoyed this probably more than she. The sauce was more heavy cream tasting than cheesy, and there was a strong nutmeg taste to the dish. I enjoyed it all, but she felt the nutmeg was just a bit too overwhelming for her preferences.

The portion sizes at this restaurant were huge, especially considering the heaviness of the dishes we had ordered. We could have easily split a lunch and been stuffed.

The entire experience was good. We had a nice little table by the window and our server was good.

As we were eating, this cart came around and provided a little entertainment.

All in all, a cute place to eat and fairly good food.

We were too full for dessert and needed to save room for Cape May Cafe's Clambake in the evening.

Before we headed out of Epcot, we were offered a free sample of some apple sauce in a pouch, a new product that was being marketed at WDW it seems.

We didn't eat it right away, but saved it and ate it later on. It was really weird and I don't know who really wants to suck applesauce through a little straw-like nozzle.

Later on, we checked in for our reservation for the Cape May Cafe and were seated after a little bit of a wait.

We started the night with a dark cherry drink which we shouldn't have ordered.
It looked great, but it tasted like bourbon, which we don't really like. We sent it back, and our server brought us this instead.

The Magical Star Cocktail with a souvenir glow cube. This was sweet and tasty and we enjoyed it very much!

We hit the buffet, and this was my first plate.
The crab legs were cooked perfectly, and they were hot and plentiful throughout the meal. The clams were just ok, but I don't really know what plain steamed clams should taste like anyway. I just ate a few to get in the spirit of the "clambake."

    This was DP's first plate.
Some mashed potatoes (yum and best of the trip), fried fish (she said it was good), green beans (she ate these out of obligation) and popcorn fried shrimp (very good).

    This was my second plate.
The kids mac and cheese was actually quite good! The cocktail sauce is nice and mildly spicy, and the rolls are sweet, warm and soft.

    Here is DP's second plate.
The red potato was plain boiled and she liked it. The cheese pizza from the kid's buffet was fine. The corn on the cob and broccoli were just what was expected.

There were lots of other things on this buffet we didn't get a chance to try, because we were so full and trying to save room for desserts. They had plenty of meat options for non-seafood eaters as well as a couple of pastas. There was a nice salad bar as well with some different cold salads. I remembered being fairly underimpressed with it last year, so we skipped it. Of course they have clam chowder that looks and smells delicious, but as is the trend in Florida, it contains some form of pork, so we don't eat it.

I had to have just one more plate with some more crab legs among other things.

The desserts are reason enough to attend this clambake, even if you don't eat much else.

This is a little lime tart, raspberry tart, cookie and some sort of blondie bar.

    We split this next plate.
An oreo bonbon, a little piece of flan and another little lime tart. The lime tarts are so good! This was our first time trying the oreo bonbon.

Let me tell you, you can't go wrong with this dessert. It was fabulous. I could have eaten ten, except that I was stuffed to the brim.

After dinner, we took a long stroll around the lake, past the yacht club and on to the Swan and Dolphin. We walked around that resort, before passing the boardwalk and arriving back at our resort via the Boardwalk bridge. We just needed to walk off some of what we had eaten. Even after all that, we still went to bed feeling totally stuffed! The Cape May Clambake is my favorite buffet I have ever eaten, and that is saying a lot, as I am a conoisseur of buffets. :woohoo:

This was our last day, but our flight didn't leave until 6 pm. We decided to spend the morning in HS after checking our bags at our resort. They checked them right to our flight, so we only had to stow our carry on bag in the luggage room at BC.

For breakfast, we ate pineapple upside down cake that we had purchased at Kona during dinner two days early but had taken to go. I guess we didn't take a picture of it, but it was so good, even two days later. Our last day to have cake or other non-nutritious garbage for breakfast...but at least it had some fruit in it! :rolleyes1

At HS, we picked up a couple of snacks we had hoped to enjoy on this trip but hadn't really gotten around to eating.

This was a white chocolate macademia nut cookie purchased at the writer's stop in HS.

I had been wanting to eat one of the cookies I'd seen at the Boardwalk Bakery earlier in the week, but I didn't end up getting one. I thought this would satisfy that craving. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst cookies I have ever had. It was crispy almost like a cracker, had not one bite of white chocolate in it and had overall just a plain sugary taste. There was nothing good about it. Eating a spoonful of sugar would have been more satisfying. It tasted old and greasy. You can see from the picture it broke in half when I simply tried to hold it flat on my hand. It was a huge disappointment, especially after all of the great reviews we'd read about the treats at Writer's Stop.

We took our second treat with us in a container, a red velvet cupcake from Starring Rolls.

After spending the morning taking one last drop on Tower of Terror and one last spin on Toy Story Mania, we walked back to the BC and ordered lunch at the Beach Club Marketplace.

DP got another flat bread pizza, and I talked myself into ordering the veggie wrap.

This was not good at all! Another let down. The veggies were weird, all pickled tasting and there was some sort of pickled mustard on this wrap. I didn't enjoy it at all and could barely choke it down.

Thank goodness we had DP's pizza and she let me share that, but we didn't take a picture.

After a long flight home, we ate the last treat and finished off our last day of our wonderful WDW vacation, our cupcake from Starring Rolls.

I wish we'd taken a pic of the inside for you. This was so delicious, moist and dense, perfectly balanced sweetness with a cream cheesy flavor in the icing on top. It was a beautiful way to end our vacation, even after we'd arrived back home and were settling in with our two sweet dogs in our own home.

I can see how kids would love that as it is certainly a creative way to serve it. :) It sure is convenient, too.

Thanks! Glad the vegetarian pics and reviews might be helpful to you. We love reading all the dining reviews on dis boards but it is hard to see so much meat. I hope looking at all the seafood pics didn't spoil your appetite. :lmao:

Once I got going, it was hard to stop, and now I am finished and sad about that. The good news is we are going to Disneyland next week, so I will take lots of food pics and write a second review!!! :rotfl:

    Hi
I really love your reviews!! Love Cape May buffet. I don't eat any meat, and find plenty to eat there. The oreo bon bons are the best, but I just read that they're not having them on the buffet any longer, and that they might have them for sale at the resort or Boardwalk bakery. Also, is that the butterfinger cupcake from Starring Rolls? It looks like it. Thanks for taking your time to share your reviews. It sounds like you had a great time!!

That was actually the red velvet cupcake from Starring Rolls. We had a very hard time deciding, but that is what we finally ordered, and I don't remember it tasting like butter finger...:confused3 I suppose I could be wrong but I'm pretty certain it was red velvet. :)

DP doesn't eat crab legs but will eat other seafood, and she certainly enjoys the cape may buffet. Are you a vegetarian? If so, what is your one favorite meal to have at WDW so we know for next time?

I'm glad you enjoyed the reviews. We can't wait to go back again. :rolleyes:No trips to Orlando planned yet but hopefully in the near future...

Thanks, Dawn! I hope you will keep your Kona reservation. I loved it there so much and hope we can eat breakfast there on our next trip, whenever that might be. Are you guys eating at Cape May in December, too?

I've never had the breakfast there but the dinner is amazing! Now I'm having second thoughts about going there for breakfast.
