10 days of WDW dining with pictures and reviews!

I'm joining in!

My family just returned from a week on the DxDP and it WAS way too much food! We had a blast, enjoyed most of our treats, but we were so full, all the time!

There are so many things we have on our list to do next time we are NOT on a dining plan...like Ghirardelli's! That sundae looks soooo good.

Isn't Sanaa delish?! We loved that place!

Can't wait to read more!

great reviews ! I'm so happy we cancelled our Fulton reservation for our October trip , whenever I want a second opinion from here , I check trip advisor , it had the same terrible reviews .
I hope the rest of your meals go better :goodvibes

Can't wait to hear about Fultons. The reviews haven't been great lately and I used to love it there!

Sorry our review adds to the not so great reviews you have been reading. I so wanted to love Fulton's, as the ambience can't be beat and is right up my alley. Maybe they will turn things around and improve some of these minors issues someday!

This morning, we were up early and headed over to the Beach Club Resort, with our belongings handed off to the bell service at POR. We left so early so we could make RD at HS, but stopped off at the Beach Club Marketplace to grab a quick bite.

We shared this:
wdw2012167.jpg

The egg and cheese croissant

The picture so does not do this justice. This was delicious, and our only regret is that we didn't order one each. The croissant was slightly sweet, soft and fresh tasting, and the eggs were light and fluffy. The cheese was melted and plentiful! I can't wait to return just to eat another one of these!

One place I wish we had eaten instead of Fulton's is Wolfgang Puck Express in DTD. All the pictures and reviews just look and sound delightful. Ah maybe next time! Hope you have another good ADR in place of Fulton's or a chance for a great quick service meal like WPE!

We spent the morning in HS, riding our favorite rides and making the mad dash to Toy Story Mania, where we only had a short wait. :woohoo:

We wanted a light lunch as we knew we had a big evening of indulgence ahead of us. :cloud9:

We chose Starring Rolls simply because I had wanted to try their sushi rolls. Here is our lunch:
wdw2012134copy.jpg

We split this, and it was very light, achieving one goal. Otherwise it was just ok, and it was prepackaged, like the kind of sushi you'd get in any grocery store from the deli area. We didn't expect a whole lot, so we weren't disappointed.

Since our lunch was so small, we had plenty of room for snacks later on.

wdw2012135copy.jpg

We enjoyed this during the Indiana Jones Stunt Show Spectacular. The icy drink is a pina colado slush from the Sweet Spells Apothecary on Hollywood Blvd, and this was on my must-do list. It was something I'd tried last year during our first visit to WDW, and truly was my favorite beverage of the entire trip. It didn't disappoint and was again my favorite! The popcorn was as it should be, warm, light and salty.

Next up, Tangierine Cafe and the Wishes Dessert Party

For the afternoon, we went to the Beach Club and checked into our lovely lagoon view room, and found our luggage conveniently stored in the hotel lobby. After some unpacking, we took a quick swim and a rest, then showered and dressed for our Wishes Dessert Party at the MK. This was something I'd booked for DP as a birthday surprise. Preparing to go to the dessert buffet was like preparing for a long night of partying, something I used to know a little bit about... We needed some real food in our stomachs to soak up all the dessert we were about to consume.

We decided to walk over to Epcot World Showcase and sample a quick service meal we'd missed out on during our last visit, Tangierine Cafe.

Here is what we ordered:
wdw2012144copy.jpg

The vegetarian platter with a combination of salads, falafel and sauces.
Again, we split this (and had eaten a few bites before we took the picture). Le me tell you, we both LOVED this. :lovestruc It was absolutely delicious with just the right combination of flavors and textures. The cast members at this restaurant were exceptionally helpful and seemed eager to please. The food was light and tasty and just perfect. This is one restaurant we can't wait to visit again. One thing that we really found strange was just how empty this place was. It was right at dinner time and we seemed to be the only people within 200 feet. In fact, we hesitaed a little, wondering if all the other guests knew something we didn't know about this restaurant. After eating here, now I know that it is we who knew the secret, and the other guests who were in the dark. :lmao:

After we enjoyed our meal in Epcot, we walked back to Beach Club and waited for the bus to MK. We waited several minutes and the bus hadn't arrived. We had seen several for the other parks, but still nothing for MK. In a panic that we'd be late for the dessert buffet, we decided to take a cab over to MK. This wasn't very expensive and would have been a genius idea, except that we didn't know that you can't actually take a cab to the main gate of MK. This might have worked well for the other parks, where the cabs can enter a passenger drop off queue. At MK, they are required to drop you at the TTC, and then you have to take the monorail from there. I must say, I was in quite a state, believing we would definitely be late under these circumstances:scared1:, but it actually all worked out just fine. We entered the MK with plenty of time to spare and actually arrived to the seating area in Tomorrowland well ahead of our reservation time. :wizard:

We were seated right away. We loved the little welcome sign they left at our table!

We had plenty of time prior to the show starting to sample many of the delicious desserts from the buffet.
wdw2012150copy.jpg

This was my first plate. Everything was just yummy. The chocolate covered strawberries were heavenly, plump, sweet and juicy. The miniature creme brulee was my second favorite.
wdw2012151copy.jpg

This was DP's first plate. She enjoyed everything she had as well.
wdw2012155copy.jpg

For seconds, she wanted something a litte more refreshing, so she went for a little ice cream sundae.

I was a little more insatiable and needed to try some more of the sweets.
wdw2012156copy.jpg

That little orange cup was filled with a nice "light" mango smoothie type beverage.

In addition to all the desserts, there was unlimited nonalcoholic beverages, including coffee. We both thoroughly enjoyed having a nice cup of tea with our treats, then coffee afterwards as we geared up for the show, the real reason we reserved the dessert party in the first place.

I must say, if you haven't ever attended this dessert party, it is well worth it. The cast members really try to make this a special event for you, attending to all your needs. It was one indulgence that was definitely worth the $50 we had paid for it. We had a perfect evening and enjoyed the perfect view of the fireworks. It was truly a magical night.

Hi
Great reviews!! I've been to the dessert party twice and can't wait to go again next year. Thanks for sharing.

The next morning, we were up early to head over to Epcot for the day. I had an orange for my breakfast, purchased at the Beach Club Marketplace. I can't remember what DP ate for breakfast this day, if she had anything at all. We already knew where we wanted to eat for lunch, and we both had in mind a filling "snack" for this day, also.

wdw2012194copy.jpg

The jalapeno cream cheese pretzel from America in World Showcase. First off, we had read somewhere that the large pretzels would be found in Germany. Let me tell you, if you go into Germany and approach the pretzel cart and ask for a jalapeno cream cheese filled pretzel, the look you will get from the young German man working there will be worth the extra walk. Clearly, the Germans would never dream of tarnishing their pretzels with bits of spicy peppers and a processed spread known as "cheese" only in name. We were both devastated; we had waited one year to indulge in one of these monstrous snacks, and now we were facing the reality that we may not be able to find one! We were considering where in Epcot such a masterpiece as the jalapeno cream cheese pretzel might be located, and that is when we realized it. The jalapeno cream cheese pretzel is an American invention, akin to the hot dog or the otter pop. We marched over to "America" and couldn't even believe how right our basic instincts were. :rotfl2:

After all of that, the pretzel was quite a reward. Very soft and slightly spicy with plain cream cheese inside. Yum.

After a few more rides, we were ready for lunch. We planned to eat at Sunshine Seasons, where we enjoyed one of the tastiest tofu meals during our last trip to WDW.
copy.jpg

This is from the Asian window. On the menu, the vegetarian dish they offer is a tofu soup which they prepare for each guest as it is ordered. The tofu has been fried and then is placed in a vegetarian broth. Because we weren't in the mood for soup, we'd learned last year that you can request to have the tofu as your "meat" in one of the combo plates featured on the menu. We requested the vegetable low mein and fried rice as our two sides. Not only is the tofu nicely done, with a nice crust and flavor, but we are told the noodles and rice are both vegetarian. The flavors in each of these three items are so good and go nicely together!

For dessert, we had the strawberry shortcake you see in back, just as good this time as it was last year.

I almost forgot! In the afternoon, I had this lovely snack from the Caramel Kuche. Forgive my spelling please.
wdw2012195copy.jpg

Chocolate covered grapes with a caramel drizzle

I thought, why not, chocolate covered grapes if one loves chocolate covered strawberries...what an amazing treat! I now know that I love chocolate covered grapes even more than I love chocolate covered strawberries. They were icy cold and crisp and the flavor was just delicious. I would definitely recommend this snack to anyone. Maybe a little steep on price at $3.95 for such a small little bunch, but well worth it. I actually had this snack another day as well; this is how good they were!

Sorry our review adds to the not so great reviews you have been reading. I so wanted to love Fulton's, as the ambience can't be beat and is right up my alley. Maybe they will turn things around and improve some of these minors issues someday!

What a bummer! They used to be so good! We cancelled our reservation a while ago. Guess I'm glad we did!

We spent the afternoon swimming at Stormalong Bay (burning some calories again:lmao:), then walked back to Epcot for our evening reservation at La Hacienda. This was one I had mixed feelings about; the menus we'd seen online made everything look and sound so good, but we'd read some mixed reviews on different sites.

We arrived at the podium to find the host turning away guests without ADRs, and there was a long line of guests with ADRs waiting to be seated. We were a little worried we would have to wait a very long time for our table, but we were pleasantly surprised when, after just a few minutes, we were escorted to our table. It was another tiny two top amidst some larger tables, but the overall atmosphere of this restaurant was so busy and loud that it didn't really matter that we were practically sitting with the guests at the tables next to ours.

Our server greeted us promptly and throughout the meal didn't miss a beat. The place was packed and all the employees seemed to have the most amazing work ethic. All the servers seemed to have lots of tables assigned to each of them and yet they were still fast and attentive.

For a starter, we tried this:
wdw2012215copy.jpg

This was good, but very hot and spicy!

We also had the chips and salsa, which are served complimentary to all guests.
wdw2012214copy.jpg

For our main courses, DP had ordered from a separate vegetarian menu which was presented to her at her request. We'd heard you could do this online, and we were glad we asked about it. Here is what she selected:
wdw2012216copy.jpg

This was basically a skillet of roasted vegetables with cheese and sauce. I sampled some of it, and boy was it delicious! Only trouble was, it was not hot and spicy at all, so she was a little disappointed. She loves spicy food!

For my meal, I tried the fried shrimp tacos.
wdw2012218copy.jpg

These were so much better than they look in this picture. The shrimp were moist and perfectly cooked with a nice light batter on the outside. The cabbage was nice and crispy and complimented the taste of the filling and sauce very well. I ate nearly every bite, even though I was stuffed.

The meal is also served with beans and rice.
wdw2012217copy.jpg

We thoroughly enjoyed these as well, even though we were so completely and painfully full before we were through. We had asked our server ahead of time to be sure the beans and rice were vegetarian, and we had been assured that they were. Also, we noticed some items on the vegetarian menu were listed as being served with the black beans, further encouraging us to assume that our server was correct. When reading a recent review on the dis posted by another member, I noticed that her server had informed her that the beans were not vegetarian. So I'm really not sure if they are or are not, but they certainly didn't taste rich, had no evident meat products and were not refried. In the states, black beans are almost always vegetarian. I am hoping that her server had misunderstood and thought she was asking if they are vegan, because indeed they do have some queso fresca on them, which would mean they are not vegan. Either way, we ate them and enjoyed them, and we will ask again the next time we return to this restaurant.

We were far too full to even think about dessert. Stuffed and satisfied, we headed back to our hotel, glad for the nearly 1 mile walk so we could "burn off" a little of our dinner. :rotfl:

I have never had much success with the make your own pasta, it is always mushy for me. Yours does look really good though. May reconsider trying it again at some point.

Looking forward to the rest of your reviews!

That is too bad. This was definitely not too soft; the pasta was actually al dente and the sauce and veggies were nice and soft!

Hi
Great reviews!! I've been to the dessert party twice and can't wait to go again next year. Thanks for sharing.

:welcome:

The dessert party is just wonderful, isn't it? You are so lucky to have been twice and going a third time!

The next morning we were up early to head over for RD at MK. This was our first full day at the MK and our first chance to experience rides and attractions there aside from Wishes, which we'd seen the night of the dessert party. I was so excited! ::yes::

As is often the case, I didn't want to waste valuable park time at a restaurant, so we just split a granola bar from home (this is something we generally will do, pack one box of nutritious granola or breakfast bars so we don't get queasy from skipping breakfast). We hit our favorite rides at a frenzied pace until it was time for the lunch restaurants to open.

We ended up at Columbia Harbour House where we'd eaten last year also. Arriving just as they open far beats showing up at 1 pm, let me tell you! We were some of the only people there, and we had the entire upstairs to ourselves. It was peaceful and quiet, and a very nice way to relax and fill up after a busy morning at the park.

I ordered the shrimp and fish combo plate:
wdw2012235copy.jpg

I was so hungry by now, and this was a huge portion, so I was very pleased with my choice. It was all good, typical fried food but all definitely very tasty and well prepared. The shrimp and the cocktail sauce are a step above what they might be at some fast food places. The tartar sauce was good, too, and the fried fish was fine.

DP had the veggie lighthouse sandwich with hummus and slaw:
wdw2012234copy.jpg

She says now that she can't wait to have this again. I remember as we were sitting there, that she seemed a little shocked at how sweet the flavors of this sandwich were. I tried one bite, and I remember it being sweet. Since then, I guess she has adjusted her opinion a little, because on a frequent basis, she will say, "I wish I could have one of those sandwiches today." Goes to show you never can tell.

We enjoyed this meal and would like to have it again, but we would definitely plan to go early rather than later in the lunch window.

Later on in the afternoon, we knew the snack we needed to have, the dole whip.
wdw2012243copy.jpg

This is one of our favorite treats while at Disneyland, and we needed to partake in Orlando as well (just to see if it is as good:rolleyes1). Guess what? It is! Yum, just what we wanted. If you've never had a whip, it's time to try one. It is the nicest, lightest version of soft serve you will ever have, with a nice rich pineapple taste and a texture almost like sherbet. So good! We ate this while waiting for the tiki room show.

Next up, a less than stellar dinner at Pinnochio's.

So glad you enjoyed La Hacienda! It's one of our favorites, especially if you're there for Illuminations...spectacular!:thumbsup2

very interested to see what you ate at the Beach Club, also glad for the heads up about the pretzel - we keep seeing them in reviews and assumed they were Germany :)

We decided to walk over to Epcot World Showcase and sample a quick service meal we'd missed out on during our last visit, Tangierine Cafe.

SHhHHHHHH!!! I agree, Tangierine Cafe is a well kept secret in Epcot! I LOVE this vegetarian platter, and look forward to getting it each trip. If you go out the back door of Tangierine Cafe, they have a few small tables & chairs back there near the shops, its a great place to sit & relax.
