Food, some food, and MORE FOOD

Thank you all for being ever so patient for this update containing the most amazing food porn to ever exist that will make you drool, possibly eat your computer that will taste nothing like this awesomeness, and go crazy because you aren’t at this amazing restaurant at this very moment and you will wonder why you don’t live in Disney.

So, we arrived at the Poly at EXACTLY 7:50. And this was the time our ADR was at. JUST MADE IT.

So there I was trying to get everyone inside so we could go upstairs and get checked in. But noooo. They had to walk like turtles. I mean, we were at the Poly INCHES away from HEAVEN and I just wanted to check in NOW.

And then we had to take the elevator because Troy in his stroller.

But the good thing is is that the elevator is like right next to the desk where you check in for ‘OHANA.

I mean, it only took us SIX MONTHS TO GET THIS ADR and I was ready!

We checked in and got a pager and the CM said there was going to be a little wait. IT’S NOT LIKE I CARED BECAUSE I WAS EATING AT ‘OHANA AKA THE BEST RESTAURANT ON PLANET EARTH.

To pass the time, we checked out the gift shops and I saw this in one of them.

I also pin traded for a cute Minnie ghost pin, which was from Halloween.

Our pager still hadn’t gone off yet so we sat in the waiting area, with the tables that had the drink menus on them from the Tambu Lounge.

I just sat there and rolled my eyes.

    I’m sorry.

I truly do not understand why you couldn’t just wait five more minutes to be seated to have a stupid drink.

So, “the other people” ALLLLLL ordered a drink and they were like “Oh wow this is so good! Melissa, do you want one?” And Mum was like “I’ll just wait.” THANK YOU.

Then they asked me if I wanted a soda or something. And I wanted to answer “Umm, I just want you to all leave.” but sadly, those words wouldn’t be coming out of my mouth.

    Which stinks.

FINALLY, our buzzer thingy went off and we were led to a big table near the front of the restaurant.

And by that time, all the drinks were sucked down and they ordered another one.

Let’s just get to the food before I start ranting again, OK?! Great.

So of course, we were brought over the most heavenly bread ever when we sat down.
Seth and Jackie weren’t big fans of it. LOSERS.

And then some really yummy salad.
Seriously, that dressing is awesome. Disney, can you please sell it in the Bou-Tiki (GET IT?! IT’S SUPPOSED TO BE BOUTIQUE BUT SINCE IT’S THE POLY IT’S Bou-TIKI! SUCH A RIOT. Ok, not so much.)?

I was COVERED with the sauce from the chicken wings. Who really cares though?!

THE LO MEIN. And some broccoli, but let’s be real. If you have the lo mein, potstickers, and chicken wings, WHY WOULD YOU WANT BROCCOLI? I mean, it’s good and all, but really.

And last, but CERTAINLY not least, MEAT.

Even Troy’s little Mickey stuffed animal was joining in on the food, since we were WAY too full to finish all of it. But he was eating the beans and broccoli. Like, WHY NOT THE MEAT MICKEY?! I don’t know what is wrong with that mouse sometimes. Like seriously.

Oh and I can’t forget the ridiculous woman who does the stupid coconut races with all of the kids yelling “MY COCONUT IS MISSING!” I seriously can’t stand that woman. She talks in this ridiculous voice and then plays her ukulele and hulas. Oh my god, she is so annoying. And our waitress, Becky, said that she is ALWAYS like that. If I had to work in the same facility as that whack job, I would lose my marbles. Seriously.

And then we got dessert. Holy crap. HEAVEN ON EARRRRTHHHHHH.
    Dying, dying, dead.

I could barely put any more food into my mouth at that point, but I wasn’t going to have the amazing bread pudding go to waste. Everyone else was moaning and groaning because they were so full and there I was eating like there was no tomorrow even though I was about to explode.

    Two words: food coma.

My stomach hurt because I was so full. I didn’t wear my eatin’ pants so it felt like my button was going to fly off. It didn’t though.

I seriously can't move because I'm so full.

We paid and we said a ton with our TiW since there were so many of us. “The other people” must have been happy that we got a discount on their drinks. You’re welcome… -_-

    Overview of Ohana
Food: I would be supid if I din't say the food was excellent. 5/5
Service: Becky was our waitress, and she was good, but didn't have much personality. 4/5
Atmosphere: Good, but it gets loud because of whacko 3.5/5

"The other people" all loved Ohana. GOOD THING. There would be a problem if they didn't. They all enjoyed the meal and thought the food was great.

After I managed to get out of my seat (which took like five years since I could barely move) we headed out of Ohana and we went downstairs via the elevator since I couldn’t walk down the stairs.

We checked out the BouTiki—hehehe...—and looked around for quite a bit.

I said hi to one of my many tiki friends. This one was decorated nicely for the holidays.

An interesting Christmas tree thing made out of balls.

For some odd reason, Seth got Mickey slippers. You know Mickey’s yellow shoes? Yeah those. But in slipper form. He said they were very comfortable but I couldn’t imagine him wearing those. I don’t even know.

    Jackie got this wonderful dress.
    I’m kidding.

I checked out some of the new shirts they had. This one was awesome.
    Disney shirts are the best.

After we were done looking around, we headed back upstairs to catch the monorail.

LOVED this by the elevator. :-)

We took the monorail to the most magical kingdom of all. Sadly, we weren’t going in that night. I don’t think there were EMH and plus we had an early morning and “the other people” had to have their beauty sleep.

Once we got to MK, we headed to the bus stop and there was a HUGE line for Saratoga. Awesome.

But “the other people (minus one)” took a cab back to their resort. Oh, and have I mentioned this was one of the MANY times they did that? BECAUSE THEY DIDN’T WANT TO WAIT. I’m not even joking. They told us that. They said the buses took too long and they didn’t want to wait for one after a long day. Ummm… do you know Disney transportation if for one, awesome, and for two, FREEEEEE. I will never understand them. Ever.

A SSR bus finally came and we had to stand.

And then I started acting like a total FREAK.

I don’t even know what happened.

    I started laughing hysterically.

I recall that happening after we ate at Ohana in August, but no hot guys were there. And I didn’t have a bottle of water.

I blame it all on the food.

People probably thought I was drunk. Seriously.

I couldn’t stop laughing. I was standing on the bus crashing into Mum on purpose (some wonderful guy let Mimi sit down) and trying not to step on people’s toes. I’m sure people love moi.

Once we got back to Saratoga, we headed up to our room via the stairs since we “couldn’t find” (aka laziness) the elevator. I could barely walk up the stairs because I had WAYYYY too much food and I had to stop to laugh some more.

    And the laughing continued.

We got into our VILLA (after Mum had to dig for her KTTW card since I was laughing too hard to find mine. SEEEE. This is why Disney is spending a billion dollars for those wristbands. Since I am always laughing, we won’t have to look for five hours for our KTTW cards) and I went nuts.

Food from Ohana + no sleep = craziness

I think I might be food drunk.

    I truly think so.

I was wide awake, bouncing off the walls. I’m sure our neighbors loved me then, since it was midnight and all.

I couldn’t sleep (I wonder why) so I stayed up till one and wrote in my journal. WHO NEEDS SLEEP?!

I finally got myself into bed and tried to sleep, while waking up my mother.

I turned on Stacey and that made me fall asleep of course, Stacey helps with EVERYTHING.

    Overview of the day
It was very nice on this day, and I was comfortable in jeans and a t-shirt. It got cooler at night of course.
    Our awesome safaris
Going to Rafiki’s Planet Watch for the first time
    Seeing Troy meet Mickey :-)
    SOME PEOPLE sleeping in
    Having my iTouch get smashed
    More drinking…

I really want to eat at O'hana. Everyone always talks about how great it is. They talk about that annoying lady, too, so you aren't alone there.

But .... DD is deathly allergic to peanuts and they have the peanut sauce. So I have scheduled dinner there a couple of times. But I always cancel because I am worried about cross contamination. I am sure we will get over there one day.

Oh yeah. I couldn’t believe it. So ridiculous.

    Haha no problem!
Yeah, I don’t understand why is wrong with “the other people (minus one).” Like WHY WHY WHY would you take a cab?!?!?! I guess they REALLY needed to get back to their room so they could have their beauty sleep…
I think if we EVER do a family trip again (this is only a 1/10000000000000 chance), we will only meet for food. But if we did that, we would be the only two that would make it.

The whacko is SOOOO annoying. That is the only thing that is wrong with Ohana.
Maybe you could talk to the chef there? Disney is awesome with allergies and would definitely find something your DD can eat, or make a special dish for her!

    Isn’t it amazing?! *drools*
    That pic is great!

    Chef Mickey's: PART ONE!

    November 24th

We got up at 5:40 on this morning.

I know I just went to bed like less than 5 hours ago the night before, but we had an ADR to get to AND we had to pack all of our stuff to move over to THE WILDNERNESS LODGE. ♥♥♥

If you didn’t read my last TR—SHAME ON YOU—I said how the Wilderness Lodge is like home to me and that it is my favorite resort EVER. IT’S JUST SO AMAZING. So I was only a little excited to be switching over there. I mean, it was probably going to be worse with all of the Christmas decorations and that tree…

I was EXHAUSTED of course form staying up so late and getting up at the crack of dawn. But then once I took a shower, and got ready, I was back to Miss Meg the Freak.

Our day today: Chef Mickey's, the best resort in the world, and the Magic Kingdom. YESSSSS.

There was a beautiful sunrise that morning.

Oh look. Someone else is up at the crack of dawn too.

I was all set and Mum took my picture because I looked “cute,” whatever the crap that means.
Two things: 1) the look on my face is great, I know and 2) STACEY ISN’T ON. Mimi was sick of her since “it was the same thing over and over again.” HOW RUDE. So she put on the news instead. YUCK.

We got all of our bags packed and called down to bell services. Mum stayed in the room to wait while Mimi and I headed to the lobby because our cab driver was meeting us in there. We HAD to take a cab because we thought that we would never make it to our ADR if we took a bus to MK and then took the monorail, because with our luck, the monorail would “hold for further traffic” for an hour.

Mum came inside the lobby and told us our cab was waiting for us.

We got in and drove to the Contemporary. If you are wondering, it was $18 from SSR to the Contemporary, which I don’t think is bad IF YOU ARE ONLY TAKING A STUPID CAB ONCE DURING YOUR STAY. Just sayin’.

Once we got to the Contemporary, a CM outside saw our shirts. Our matching shirts.

Now let me say, I have NEVER liked the whole matching shirt thing. I think they are weird-ish, and I have never been a big fan of them. Mum suggested the idea that we could all do matching shirts this time around since there would be 6 of us. She picked out a “cute” Mickey snowman design and I just sat there and rolled my eyes. So I said “I don’t do matching shirts.”

And that’s what was on our matching shirts with Mickey sticking his tongue out.

    But they are all matching.

Even though it says “I don’t do matching shirts.”

    Stupid, I know.

So Mum made the shirts for all of us on some website and decided this day would be the perfect day to wear them.

So since I am such a nice person, I wore mine with my awesome leggings, since they matched, kinda.

So this CM at the Contemporary thought our shirts were the funniest things EVER.

And then brought us around the whole lobby to show all of her CM friends our shirts and explained it and they all laughed.

She seriously got a kick out of them!

I didn’t think they were that funny, but I’m glad she liked them!

    Christmas tree in the lobby.

The CM asked us where we were going after she showed our shirts to EVERYONE. Mum said Chef Mickey’s and she said that we would take the elevator up to the 4th floor and I was like “I know. I have been here before.”

We said bye to our new CM friend and went up to the 4th floor.

Once we got up there, I called Seth to tell them we were there and then I FLIPPED OUT.

In his very groggy sounding voice, he said,

    “We just got up.”

I stood there with my mouth wide open in complete shock. I could barely get a word out of my mouth. YOU WHATTTTTTT?! I was FURIOUS. I mean, this already happened and now AGAIN?! I was about to just leave and go to the Magic Kingdom by myself. I seriously stood there for 30 seconds with the phone up to my ear and my mouth was wide open, not saying anything. I was NOT going to be late for an ADR again, ESPECIALLY one that included Mickey waffles.

I basically threw the phone at Mum and stood there, ready to kill someone, and by someone I mean Seth, who was on the other side of property.

And then Mum started cracking up.

I was like “What is going on…?”

She hung up and I looked at her and she said he was joking and that they were like 2 minutes from the Contemporary.

    I was SOOOOOOOOOO mad.

    Seriously, THAT WAS NOT FUNNY!!!!!!!!!!!

I almost punched someone in the face for cryin’ out loud!

He seriously got me that time.

    I couldn’t believe it!

Sooooo, after I realized Mickey wasn’t going to take our ADR away because our party consists of a bunch of losers, we checked out the it’s a small world display.

The display was very nice and they sell gingerbread there during the day.

I saw “the other people (minus one)” come out of the elevator and I glared at Seth. He was laughing so hard. Loser.

We were finally able to check in and EAT. AND MEET THE FAB 5. YAYAYAY.

    Time for breakfast!

After we checked in, we got in line to take a picture with the fake little statue of Mickey.

    From left to right:
Troy, who looks very excited, Seth aka a big fat loser, Jackie aka Drinks-a-lot, my amazing mother, MISS AWESOME, and my grandmother who I have nothing bad to say about at the moment.
And SHOCKINGLY, “the other people (minus one)” ALLLL remembered to wear their shirts. I am very surprised by that.

We had to wait about fifteen minutes to be seated, which was VERY unacceptable because I wanted Mickey waffles right then.

FINALLLLLY, we got seated and all settled in.

Where can I buy one of these?

Our server, Willie, came over and got us our drinks.

We didn’t see any of the Fab 5 out/near our table, so we headed up to the buffet.

Why would you want fruit when you can have MICKEY WAFFLES?!

    The kid’s station, I think????

Stuff for make your own omelet. Or if you want, have some cubes of ham.

Y’all, here are some grits and biscuits!

We got our food and then headed back to our table.

Croissant, MICKEY WAFFLE, the cheesy potatoes (THAT WERE HEAVENLY), more potatoes, looks like a hash browns under the cinnamon bun, and some fruit so it looked like I wasn’t a pig and was actually being healthy.

    Mum’s plate.

I didn’t take any more pictures of “the other people’s” plates because they thought it was really weird that I take food pictures. FREAKS.

Excuse me while I go eat something now because all of this food porn is causing my tumbly to have a rumbly in it!

    Chef Mickey's: PART TWO!

Ok, I’M BACK. All set now.

Now let’s get onto the characters…AND MORE FOOD OF COURSE!

    Waiting for the characters…

I then went over to give Donald a hug.
I had to majorly crop this picture because Troy was standing right in front of me on his chair pointing to the monorail going by, which isn’t necessarily a problem. Seriously though. That kid LOVED Chef Mickey’s. Every single time the monorail went by, Troy would jump up and down and scream “IT’S THE MONORAIL!!!!” Then he would see Mickey and yell for him, or another character. It was so cute!

    The big cheese was next!

    I just LOVE this picture!

Me and Mickey ♥ (sorry Mum I used incorrect grammar. Mickey AND I…)

    Then Goofy came over…

Troy was all ready to take a picture with Goofy when he saw Minnie. “MINNIE!!!!!”

After Troy was done, I WANTED to take a picture with Goofy, but he totally ignored me and moved onto the next table. I wanted to yell at him “DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?! GET YOUR BUTT BACK OVER HERE, DIPPY DAWG!”

    Pluto was next.

A very ridiculous picture of us.
I don’t know why Troy is poking himself in the eye.

    More ridiculousness.
Troy looks like Sleepy and me and Pluto look like we are doing some kind of dance. I don’t even know.

Minnie was coming up next and Troy was waiting for her and watching other kids meet Minnie. So I took this picture while we were waiting.
    :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2:
It looks like Troy is staring at that woman’s butt! He’s like “WOAH. Look at her butt.”

Minnie then came over to say hi!

That woman’s face behind them is too funny. She probably had that same expression as Troy did when he saw that woman’s butt.

We had seen all of the characters so I wanted to get up and get more food (DUH), but then Willie brought over a birthday cupcake for Jackie. We put a birthday celebration for her online when we made the ADR because her birthday was coming up in about a week after the trip. We are nice people, I know.

    The cupcake looked SO GOOD.

Jackie took a bite and then me and Troy ate the rest since we are little piggies. I was SO happy she gave us the rest because I was secretly jealous that she got it.

I went back up to the buffet because I saw them. Yes. THEM.

I got one chocolate croissant (SHOCKER) and a donut.

At the end of the meal, the photopass dude came over to our table and asked if we wanted our picture with the Mickey statue. $25 for a stupid picture. Then I heard “YES I LOVE IT!” out of Jackie’s mouth and Mimi’s. So they bought it. Don’t ask me why. Then I looked inside AND THERE WAS A RECIPE FOR THE CHEESY POTATOES. I told them I wanted it and Jackie was like “oh yeah, sure!”

I haven’t gotten it yet and this was like two months ago.

We were all full at this point and we were ready to head out.

    Overview of Chef Mickey’s
Food: The food was very good in my opinion. I know some people don’t like it, but I enjoyed everything. 5/5
Atmosphere: The atmosphere is great and I loved all of the pictures on the wall. AND you cans see the monorail. That right there is awesome! 5/5
Service: Wille was our server and he was just ok. He was kinda slow, but that was fine because we were busy meeting the characters, eating, etc. 4/5
Character interaction: The interaction was great! Except for Goofy when he totally ignored me 4.9/5 (yes I’m taking 0.1 points off because of Dippy Dawg)

I think just the 2 of us should wear them in August. We can pretend we're with some other people who are wearing the shirts, but just aren't around at the moment, and then when you stop and think how it's just the 2 of us on this trip, you'll be so happy you won't mind wearing the shirt! :lmao:

That phone call actually was pretty funny. They do know how to aggravate you, that's for sure! And I'm glad it WAS just a joke and Troy got to experience Chef Mickey's cause you could see how excited he was! He LOVED it! And I think Minnie was his new girlfriend! :lovestruc

Oh..not even MY MOM got bored of Disney Resort TV on repeat... :faint:

Actually, the $18 is good to know for future reference to get from Off property TO ON property... ;P :thumbsup2

BAHAHA the shirts. I actually like matching shirts...when I LIKE the people I am going to match with. I have every intention of going to Design a Tee with my friends next trip and making shirts. And my mom wants to do shirts for the trip. I like to design..and my PT time is a sign shop..where we can make shirts. She wanted to do shirts this past trip but that clearly would have been a waste... but I DIED WHEN I SAW YOUR SHIRT

I freaked out over the monorail too. I mean, why wouldn't you freak out over the monorail? You could freak out over it for several reasons: 1, it's the monorail, 2, Disney transportation, and 3, the new dumb voice guy who sounds like he is at Universal for cryin' out loud.
Well really, "the other people (minus one)" are freaks and they think taking a cab is acceptable.

Sorry my answer is not going to help you.... but ....I bought one of these....but it is blue! I bought it at the gift shop of the now-defunct Club Disney Regional kids play center in Chandler, AZ. This is back in 1998, DBF and I were on vacation in Arizona and being the Disney freak I am, I dragged him to this children's play center because it was run by Disney. When I got married, for some reason, my adorable blue Mickey condiment holder somehow stayed at my parent's house and it is still there to this day!
