WHAT A JOKE! - Umpire in Cardinals Vs. Astro

I am a Cardinal fan and I have never seen worse calling by a home base umpire then this! It is unbelievable! And to throw a batter out of the game! GIVE ME A BREAK!!!

That being said - the Astro's are playing a GREAT game. The pitching is fantastic.

Umpire should be fined when they make mistakes and throw players out of the game.

I've had to stop watching the game - my heart couldn't take it.

I totally understand your frustration...if the tables were turned, I bet I'd feel the same way.....HOWEVER, my cousin is pitching for the Astros (Dan Wheeler) so I'm on the edge of my seat right now

A true Cardinal fan always appreciates good players, whether they are on our team or not. Sometimes it is a cross to bare

Is your cousin really Dan Wheeler?!? I LOVED him when he pitched for the Mets (I'm a HUGE Mets fan!) That is so cool! The only MLB player I know is Mike Stanton (who lives in my neighborhood) and my sister knows Gary Sheffield (whose kids go to the daycare she works at).

I couldn't believe the call either, but I'm glad it went our way! I still can't believe both the player and the coach were thrown out of the game! This was a crazy but awsome game!! & if Wheeler is your cousin tell him Houston LOVES him! Especially ME!

Yes, he really is my cousin...I'm the oldest grandchild (there are 18 of us total) and he is the next oldest...we're only a year apart.....glad to hear you were a fan when he was in NY It was nice having him close becasue we got to go to the games...Houston is a hike from RI....lol....but he's doing well with the Astros and who knows, maybe he'll be World Series bound which would be so awesome

that entire game was a joke. what is it with umpires this playoffs? yesterday was pretty bad too. The Astros are pitching well, and the cardinals aren't playing their best, but its hard to beat a good team AND the umps. This is tough to watch. Once again, the cardinals rip my heart out and stomp on it. ASt least it was a fun season...

Ump was squeezing the cardinals pitchers, several bad calls. LaRussa got hot about a couple of walks....got ejected. Homeplate umpire didn't just walk away, but got into a shouting match.

Next inning, Jim Edmonds takes a clear ball 4, so far inside it almost hit him, he questions the call and is tossed immediately.

Ump seemed to be getting caught up in the excitement at the ballpark and was playing to the hometown crowd. It was tough to watch.

But its no excuse, the redbirds look lathargic. Heres to hoping they can wake up and win three in a row...yeah right.

In the game I saw, both teams had the same umpires. Nothing brings out the frustration like being down 3-1.

Yes they did. At one point they showed the Cards dugout, around just the 3rd inning, and I told my SO that they looked like they had already lost the game. There was no fire in their eyes at all. They looked beaten down.

Yes, that was a bad call. It's also a known fact that the one thing you don't do with an umpire is argue balls and strikes. A player can ask "are you sure?", which is a safe way to express his dissatisfaction with the call. Saying "That was a ball" is an automatic ejection 99.9% of the time, for any player, on any team.
