Thumbs up Mom, Me and a Mouse-The Dining Reviews

I just returned from 4 days of absolute fun in the sun at WDW! We stayed at Carribean Beach and were on the dining plan (not for free because I missed out when I bought my package online-but still a great deal nontheless!)

DAY 1-MGM Studios
We skipped breakfast out of sheer excitement. We were here-finally after all of my obsessive planning!
For lunch we grabbed some chicken strips (me) and a chicken salad(mom) from Backlot Express. Wasn't bad but nothing horribly exciting. It was packed for 1:30 which I found surprising. We ate outside. The desserts were what made the meal. I had a strawberry cream parfait with whole strawberries in it and mom had the chocolate mousse which were both wonderful. Ahh my mouth is watering..
Stars (out of 5): 3

Dinner we made an ADR for 50's Prime Time for 5:45. We got there about 5 minutes early and waited about 10 to be seated which wasn't bad because we got to sit in the waiting room (50's living room) watching old TV shows. When it became our turn the cutest little old lady (couldn't have been less than 80) came out and called our names in a scolding manner, like mom would do if the kids were running around when it was time for dinner. So cute!
Then we met our mom (server). She was really into it. She had our table and the ones on either side of us so she would talk to all her children at once. She gave us homework for each table which we worked together to solve (like name all 12 Disney animated movies with 1 word titles). It was tons of fun. We witnessed a boy from another section getting up and being forced to sing "I'm a little teapot" in front of everyone. And we kept getting yelled at for having our elbows on the table. A guy next to us didn't eat all his vegetables so he got an airplane force feeding from mom. (you know, here come the airplane eeeerrrrooww! into the mouth)
We shared the seafood dip, pot roast and smores which were all huge and more than filling for the both of us. The food is excellent here and I highly recommend it.
Stars (out of 5): 4

DAY 2-The Magic Kingdom
Well this was my birthday and I was determine to make the most of it. So I got ADRs for CRT and CP in one day, letting them know ahead of time it was my birthday. I was wearing my birthday pin to make sure they remembered.

Skipped breakfast again!
Lunch: Cinderella's Royal Table ADR for 12:05
We walked in right on time and were escorted to the receiving hall where about 10-15 other families were already waiting. We waited about 10 minutes before the bells chimed and the hostess announced the the table was ready for the Royal Williams Family. We were ackowledged as the princesses we are and shown up the stairs were more hostesses were waiting to seat us. We get a lovely table (not a window seat, but what can you do) and our waiter brought our drinks in blue goblets and presented us with a little tray with 3 types of appetizers-crab cake, a wonton thing, and buffalo mozzerella. For lunch, I had the major domo (yum yum yum) which is a big piece of beef smothered in cabernet sauce served on top of mashed potatoes and a flaky pastry. Mom had the pork tenderlion which was very tender and juicy.
The nice waiter also brought out a certificate for me that says my day is certifiably magical. It was signed to Princess Mindy from Lord Charles (my waiter). When the Princesses came out about dessert time they all signed it. The princesses were: Cinderella, Snow White, Aurora, Belle, Mary Poppins. There wasn't too much time for long interactions and the princesses made it to every table just once, but they did not make you feel rushed and took the time to sign my certificate and pose for pictures with me and my mom. Truly magical.
Stars: 4.5 for the magical experience
Cost: 60$ saved with dining plan-TS used 2

Dinner was at Crystal Palace. This is an absolutely charming restaurant which I highly recommend to any age group. The food is wonderful and the ambiance is terrific. The characters were: Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore, and Tigger
and they all made it around to my table at least once, which is a tough thing to do as that restaurant is huge. Buffet is in the middle of the 2 sides of tables so you don't have to walk too far whichever side you're on.
The service was fantastic. We only waited a few minutes and got to watch Cinderellabration while we were waiting as CP is right next to the castle. When we were called we were led to a nice window table already decorated with streamers and tons of mickey confetti for my birthday. The server made a big deal about it being my special day and tried to get me to join the parade where the characters grab signs that say hooray and things and march around with birthday people to a song that plays. I sat out of that one. The characters were great and really into it. At the end my server came over and presented me with a card signed by the characters and a cupcake. She sang the birthday song and then sprinkled my head with about a hundred pieces of mickey confetti after I blew out the candle. It was great!

DAY3-EPCOT

Today we actually took the time to eat breakfast at old port royale. I got a breakfast bagel with bacon and cheese and egg with some pineapple and a chocolate milk and mom got a humongous mickey waffle with bacon and orange juice. Coffee and tea were complimentary additions. Yummy food, bright and colorful atmosphere

For lunch we decided to head over the the World Showcase where our hungry bodies landed us in Japan. After watching the Kodo drummers for a bit we went to the Yakitori House. I must say that I have definitely had better japanese food before, but it wasn't bad for CS. We both had combination plates with stringy pork, teriyaki chicken, and mine had one piece of shrimp tempura. These were served on a flimsy paper plate which I was afraid would spill with the sauce from the chicken weighing it down. For dessert we got ginger cake (only choice on dining plan-but not bad. I didn't finish because rice is too filling). I think next time I'll try Tangerine Cafe.

For dinner we ate at Le Chefs de France. Our waiter was from France and had a divine accent, but was very soft spoken and difficult to hear with the noise of the restaurant. He was very nice also. Our ADR was at 6:50 and we were seated right away. For appetizers we had the salmon tartare and the salmon crepes (mom is chicken to try raw fish). I wanted to try the lobster bisque but was worried it would be too much food. Good thing because I was right. For dinner I had the rare tuna served on orzo with calamari and shrimp mixed in a garlic butter sauce. Wonderful! The tuna just melts in your mouth. Mom had the filet mignon which looked really good and must have been because she refused to let me try!
Dessert came and the service got a lot slower then. By this time our waiter had 4 tables (maybe more) and had trouble getting back to us. But we were never without something in our drink glasses, and we also had water just in case. We finally ordered dessert. We both got the creme brulee. I think a little birdie (*cough* MOM) must have told them that it was my birthday because I don't remember putting that on any other ADRs than the ones from the previous day. They came out singing happy birthday in french which was awesome, and presented me with my 2 desserts (this happened 3 times in the short time I was there, but who's complaining? ) The birthday dessert was a piece of the most rich chocolate mousse cake I have ever had. And it had a white choclate banner on top that said happy birthday. Well I got through the creme brulee but I am ashamed to admit that I could not finish the chocolate mousse cake, much to my dismay . By the time we got out of there it was 8:30, so don;t go here if you are in a hurry.

We had just enough time for a quick look at a nearby shop before we hightailed it to a perfect spot to watch Illuminations, where as soon as we were in position, it began to rain.

DAY4-Grand Floridian and Downtown Disney
Our last day. How sad! We frantically checked out of our hotel, left our bags with bell services and grabbed a very expensive cab ride to Grand Floridian to breakfast with Mary Poppins at 1900 Park Fare.
Characters were: Pooh, Eeyore, Alice, Mad Hatter, and Mary
Service was excellent and since it was very slow we got plenty of great interaction with Pooh and Eeyore. Alice wasn't very into it and the Mad Hatter liked to spend more time with the kids than us, but no matter. I'd rather have Pooh and Eeyore any day!
The food was amazing. Note to all-if you don't try the strawberry soup you are seriously missing out! YUM! We got our own carafe of coffee and hot water for mom's tea and all the orange juice we wanted
There were all sorts of lovely things from the build your omelette station to the divine mickey waffles. Eeyore kept eyeing my strawberry soup but motioned he was too full to have any
It was truly a grand experience and the place is just beautiful!

We headed down to downtown disney for some last shopping and grabbed a mickey bar and a couple sandwiches from Earl of Sandwich on our way out to the bus stop. The mickey bar we ate while waiting and it was so messy! One of ours was already falling apart when we tried to get it out of the package but the other was fine. The sandwiches we ate later at the airport and they were very good even lukewarm. You also get to get a huge cookie or brownie with the dining plan, which we still have.
Very good last disney meal
Rating: 3 stars (because we had to run and didn't experience the sandwich while hot)
Cost: 25 saved on dining plan, CS used 2. Snack credits for Mickey bar used 2

We then hopped back to our resort, grabbed the last of our packages from the gift shop and used the rest of our snack credits on mickey shaped rice krispy treats!

Well I hope this long dining review has been helpful to you! I would definitley do the dining plan next time because you can eat anything you want without worrying how much it costs. It is a lot of food but we did manage to use up all of our credits and only pay for one person's meal out of pocket.

Now that my trip is done I can't wait to plan the next time!

We will be going to 1900 Park Fare for breakfast when we go next week and we have a 7:30 a.m. AR. I was told the buses might not be running that early and we might have to take a cab. You said you took a cab and it was very expensive.....may I ask how much it was and is there any other way to get there? 9 days left to Disney!!!

The cab was 15 dollars plus tip from CBR to the Grand Floridian. The driver drove very slow to make sure that he miled as much out of my pocket as he could. I chose the cab because I would need to go first to the MK and then ferry or monorail over to GF which takes loads of time. Since we checked out that day we didn't want to risk the time crunch. So I guess it was money well spent. I am not sure how early the buses run to MK, something to check before you go.
I hope you have a fabulous trip!
