I've been zapped!

During a discussion with MissBelle in VMK, I got my first warning about disclosing personal information with another user. I should make this my last warning and write a disappointing email to the Powers That Be requesting my account with VMK be terminated.

I always knew that signing up for something like this would clash with my non-conformist attitude, and now I can see it has.

What do you all suggest I do?

I got your little message, and then I got booted from the game....I better watch out for you, you're trouble

You could always do what I do, leave IM up and running and message people with other stuff you want to talk about in game but cannot.

Simple: learn from it, and don't do it again. It can't have been that big a deal -- if it were, you would have been banned, not warned.

Bezoar got a couple of warnings, and it didn't count against him too much.

Some warnings I've heard of were for semi-ridiculous reasons:
- "I'm a teacher." got a warning

Really, BuddyGenie, I don't think you need to take things so seriously . Here's a post of mine from a long time ago:
Quote:
Originally posted by Bezoar: Recently, there does seem to have been a bizarre increase in warnings for what we say that seems a bit restrictive.

One person at the VMK fan site was warned for saying she was a kid. I got warned for saying that my DVC is at Boardwalk. There have been a number of other similar examples. I also noticed the thread saying that 'Enter caught' was being disallowed. Long ago "VMK fan site net" was disallowed (and the word net removed from the dictionary". On the Dis boards, I've posted that I expected them to remove Dis from the dictionary, but that hasn't happened yet.

<shrug> All we can do is roll with it. From a post i made elsewhere, I've suggested a new set of rules for VMK safety:

Quote:
The new VMK Safety Extreme:

"Do not speak in the VMK game; use of the text box will result in permanent banning. No emotes either. Do not walk, because walking patterns may reveal your age. Because gender has been linked to character types and clothing, henceforth all characters will be identical, and all screen names will be Pat. There will be no games, because skill at games may reveal identifying features. Furthermore, no logging in, because the time of logging in may reveal what time zone you are in. Please enjoy your stay at VMK! "

It is extremely annoying but I'm sure its for the best. I've already gotten some creepy vibes from some people I have met on VMK. You just can't tell if someone is who they say they are. I think Tishke's idea of running the IM at the same time is a great idea for you to talk to VMKers that you know. But its pretty much impossible to strike up a new friendship because you can't say anything!

BuddyGenie,

It isn't that big of a deal But I am sure I will not be spelling out New Row Shell in a long time

Just don't let it occur too often my friend. And then the "people taker" will take you for ever...

This is a good idea if you already know the IM of the person, from out of VMK. Just be aware that someone just said in VMK something like "Do you use the same messenger..." and got a ban (not a warning)

Yeah...you gotta be careful about mentioning instant messengers. I said to a friend: "Hey do you have that messenger program that doesn't have a dictionary?" and got a warning for that. They gave me a warning not to try getting around the dictionary and I may be banned if I continue.

It's all good I mean look this other warning I got...

Um, is that an authentic warning? What is Ativan, and how does it suppress excitement?

LOL... There was a time when VMK removed just about all punctuation. When someone came into the room, you couldn't say:

" Hi BuddyGenie! Great to see you! "

it would look like

" hi buddygenie great to see you "

We sounded like a bunch of tranquilized / lobotomized robots. Ativan is a sedative medication in the same class as Valium. It was a joke!

Ah yes, I love playing the "fake messages from VMK" game. Just don't worry about the warnings BuddyGenie, they don't count against you when you're applying for Community Leader or really anything at all. It's just like a pat on the shoulder saying "You're on the edge there buddy!" I've actually gotten my share of warnings too!

I appreciate all the "Don't worry, be happy" messages when it comes to warnings, but if you look during a post I made in the "VMK cracking down on warnings" thread, you'll see how I feel about them. I mean, I've ignored the warnings I had gotten when I was paying for AOL, and now my mother is paying for AOL and not me, if you know what I mean. Since then, I've considered AOL "evil".

You wouldn't want me to brand VMK, or anything on the web about Disney "evil", would you? That wouldn't be cool.

I have been zapped too. They said I was harassing someone when I was just getting a little upset that the guy didn't move. I didn't say anything bad or anything. I was telling him to double click the teleporter, move, and that stuff. I called for help, and they said to look at the VMK values. I did. According to that I didn't break any rules! And now I'm at risk of being banned. Anyone else have the same trouble as me? And if you have, HELP!
