Cute Eeyore layout!

A gal who is going to Creating Keepsakes University in Provo in August posted this pic of a page she did for a swap. Thought you would enjoy!

I hate to sound stupid but...

I notice that a lot of layouts have things that open or pull out (like this one has the little card that opens).

Do you use these techniques with top loading books or pages with page protectors over them? Don't you have to take the page out of the protector or pull the protector off the page to look inside the card?

I would really like to use these cute ideas in my books but I use 8 x 8 top loader books or 12 x 12 CM books with page protectors.

I was told by my LSS owner, they cut the plastic on the three sides that make the hidden part open, then adhere the plastic to the front of the flap with vellum tape. I haven't tried it yet but it looked like it worked well.

---------- Kind of like this. Cut on the dotted line. This would be if the opening is on the right and the crease would be on the left. Ignore the "a"s it wouldn't let me leave a blank space.

First of all there are no stupid questions, lol!

I cut (gasp!) my page protector as described above. Sometimes it's just a slit - like for a book pocket and tag, so I can get the tag out.

Yep - it makes sense. I just have never done it. If I am putting cards or things in a scrapbook - like invitations in the sorority scrapbook, I work the layout around so the card opens on the edge of a page and leave the cover outside the page protector (these are cm style books).

Do you cut the plastic on top loading books also? Does it make it difficult to get your page in with the flap outside the slit?

Glad it made sense. The ones that Muriel (my LSS owner) had were all top loading pages. Some of her cutouts were pretty big so I don't think it would be too difficult to slide in. You would just have to be careful not to snag the flap on anything as you slide. The flap could always be pinned back with some vellum tape as you slide the page in. The vellum tape would probably be easy to remove, but I would practice first. My biggest concern about it is if the plastic continued to tear where you cut it. I will see Muriel this weekend so I might take another look and ask her about sliding and tearing. As for the slit that Jeanne was talking about I would slide the page in and then put the tag in it's slot after.

Jeanne,
Do you cut just a slit slightly larger than the tag or do you cut away some of the plastic to make a larger opening?

I usually cut the slit just slightly larger. It's worked so far... I'd be interested in any suggestions that your lss has. I'm always up for learning a better way to do something.
