weird scrapbook question ... not sure where to post!

One of my best friend's son is turning one soon. He has EVERYTHING he could ever need in the way of toys and clothes. My friend does not scrapbook at all. She is always talking about how she loves my albums and wishes she could have the time/patience/$$$ it takes to scrapbook. For my son (who is 3 months older than hers) I made a album for every month since he was born until he turned one. I was thinking of making a scrapbook for her for this past year as a gift. I would create a layout for each month and then she could just fill in the pictures. I usually make one for my friends as baby shower gifts, but I didn't b/c they adopted and had a failed adoption during the same month we adopted last May. So, I guess my question to you guys (after all that story!) is this: would it be wierd to give a scrapbook album as a 1st birthday gift at the party? I would probably get a small gift for her son, but this would be the main gift!

I think that is awesome. A one year old doesn't know if you give a gift or not and Mom will appreciate something so thoughtful!

My DS birthday is Thursday

I say go for it too! A one year old doesn't care what they get. Both my kids couldn't even open their presents. I gave my sister in law a scrapbook like that and she was soooooo excited!

Do it! He will enjoy looking at it with mommy and daddy down the road as they tell his story! Will you include pages specific to adopting? That would make the album very special and unique!

The baby will not know the difference now, but he will once he gets older! My kids love to look at their baby scrapbooks; they never get tired of looking at pictures of themselves. So it is a wonderful present for the mom and little one!

ok, thanks everyone! I just wanted to make sure it didn't sound/look like I was just too cheap to get toy or something exactly for the baby now. I will start working on this tonite at our local crop.

I will definately include about adoption. This couple actually introduced us to the lawyer we adopted through ... we were matched in 2 days and had our ds within 4 months ... the smoothest adoption the lawyer says they have had. They had a much LONGER wait and a failed adoption right after we brought ds home. They have a semi- open adoption with his birthmom, they will certainly be open and honest about how he came into their lives.

Thumbs up As an adoptive mom x2 dd's ....

that would be such a blessing.

What a wonderful friend you are to her!

We make a big deal of our gottcha day ~ the day we "got" both of the girls. We usually go out to dinner & take pictures.

Sounds like a wonderful gift. Your friend will love it.

OT-if you don't mind-where in SC are you? I am in SC too and we are starting to look into adoption. Would love any info you could give us about you lawyer or anything else you think would be helpful. Hope you don't mind me asking. You can PM me if you want to. Thank you.

Go for it! I made small books for a bunch of our graduates this past spring and the reaction was very positive. Besides - it is for mom, the little one won't have a clue...EVER! if there was or wasn't a toy. But some day will see the book. Uh...you might even suggest that the dads take the babies out for an afternoon so you moms can put the photos into the book...so it gets done?

I think that would make a very meaningful gift! And congratulations on your and your friends adoption. I'm hoping to have my little one home soon too.
