Color Swap - Final Details

Here are the final details for this swap. The mail by date is September 10. (you will not be hung upside down by your toenails, if life gets in the way!) If you have any problems or concerns, just send me a PM. I will send out a PM later with my address. Make sure you add a stamp for return postage. I will get them sent back as each group is complete, so if any group is finished early, I will send it right out!

Swap 1 - This is a scrapping swap. Each person will be responsible to create a frame/mat, a journaling block, two accent blocks, and a generic border. These will be done in the color you sign-up for. I will include five people in a group, please choose a different color than what has been taken.

Swap 2 - This will be an embellishment/ shopping swap. Each person will be responsible for 1 yard of fiber, 4 eyelets, 4 brads and 1 other (button, charm, sticker)per person. Again, you will buy things that fit the color you choose.

Thanks for organizing everything! I am so excited.

I have participated in swaps on a variety of other boards, but not here at DIS and I have a question ... how long should the border be? I know some people scrap 8.5x11 and others scrap 12x12. In the past I have always made swap borders 11" long. Is it the same in this swap?

Thanks!

I have made my border 12" but able to cut down if need be. Not sure what the "real" answer would be, but that is what I have done cuz I'm a rebel at heart.

Stupid Question of the day...

On swap #1.... Do we embellish our peices or do we send them plain? For example, in the past when I have made squares, I always put some thing on them.

Thanks,
SHawna

good question, I had the same thought! 2 ways to think about it, plain we can add so they fit the pages we end up using them on, or embellished they will have a theme and what should that underlaying theme be?

My other studpid question, do accents have to be square or can we go wild and do other shapes, from the newbie in the back?

Since I am new at this hosting thing, I am open to other opinions. I was planning on a small embellishment and I think a different shape would be cool, but then again, I am not in your group.

My feeling

is maybe we should not embellish the swap 1 pieces---- I think I would like to embellish the peices once I have them to fit my pictures and page. I will do what ever the group wants. Just let me know, as I working on my pieces. I will be out of town most of the next two weeks, so I'm trying to get ahead a little. Just let me know.

Shawna,

I agree with you. I would rather embellish once I get the pieces. That way, I can have any theme I want.

Embellishments

TO embellish or not to embellish that is the question. I wondered if anyone had made a decision. If we are not embellishing these items- Mine are done. If we are embellishing them-- I need to go to the store when I return from vacation next week and get something to go with what ever theme you all pick. I personally made my pieces so that they could be embellished with a number of different themes. I would rather embellish as I use the pieces to scrap just like WDWMom stated! Just let me know.

Have a great week,
Shawna

I didn't embellish my items. Mailed them today. Think I forgot to put the group I was in on my tags--sorry. You should have it by Friday.

Thanks lewdyan1!

I also did not embellish, so that others could theme the pieces to the page they end up on. I mailed early thinking it would take forever from the Great Humid (should be white/cold) North, But it took only 4 postal days, yeah! Can't wait to see all the hard work of the rest of you fabulous ladies (any gentlemen?).

Okay, so before I go and do this totally wrong... you don't want anything embellished... so like for mats, just tone-on-tone double matting? How about chalking? Or just plain, cut out the pieces, adhere and that's it?

I'm so confused....
