I want to look a little less Poohish before our trip in Sept. I just started dieting and exercising 10 days ago, so far I've lost 5 lb but I can't tell it by my clothes so I feel disappointed so far. Is anyone else trying to lose weight before going to the World?

I am! I am!
I am a Weight Watchers member and I want to feel better and be in better shape the next time I go! I wish you much luck! I'm just starting but I am trying to remember that I did not get overweight quickly and I'm not going to lose it quickly either!! I also try to think about how much better I will feel doing all that walking and not having so much of me to carry around. Also I plan to treat myself when I get there so I have
to look forward to!!! BTW, I am not going until the end of 06 so I have plenty of time to work on losing.

I am with you. I did Atkins for a year and then came off and went nuts. I had lost 60+ punds and I have gained 25 back. I plan on losing all of it back off by Oct trip. We can do it!!!! Just no more going nuts for me and learning to eat like a sensible person.

There's a board here on the DIS dedicated to this very thing. It's called WISH. (We're Inspired To Stay Healthy)
I lost about 40 pounds with WISH (160 pounds overall). You can do it!! You both absolutely have the right attitude!!! I believe in both of you.

I am a weight watchers member online and find that to be helpful. I started in January and have lost 32 pounds. I find that Weight Watchers is sensible and doable. I also went to a nutritionist in the past, who told me that losing slowly is good because it is healthy. I also started working out after about a month or two of dieting and found that it helped. I am close to where I want to be for Disney but still have a long way to go ideally. Good luck and keep working!!!

me too!!!! I joined Weight Watchers January 1st....22 pounds so far...would LOVE to lose the remaining 20 before October....BUTTTTTTT if I can just keep exercising, and continue to lose at a steady pace!!

I have been trying to loss weight too! But the excitement of going to WDW is making me eat!
Hopefully with all the walking in the parks it will help burn those extra calories. My plan is eat a big breakfast and light lunch and supper and hopefully the calories will be worked off by evening! Good Luck! |

I started to loose weight and get in shape Mid March, because 2 weeks after that was our Disney Cruise trip, and in that short amount of time I lost 8 lbs and was looking better in my clothes. But this was with a strict diet and very tough workout sessions with a trainer. Since then I lost a total of 12 lbs. I work out 5 days a week with at least 30 min. of solid cardio. The secret is to do something that really makes you sweat and get that heart pumping. Then I do about 45 min. of other various things. I also work out with weights ( I take a class when I do this) and you burn more calories just by working out with weights. After the summer, my trainer has a couple of classes that I am going to take only because his classes are the only ones that really whip my butt! I belong to the Y, and their classes and personal trainers are alot cheaper than other gyms. Most of their classes are free too. But I learned so much from him and I know now what I have to do in order to stay in shape and keep loosing weight. I hope to loose at least 8 more lbs.

On our last trip I went crazy and purposely gained weight so I could eat more at disney. Pretty dumb now that I am up to 246.

I'm trying to lose weight before we go in October. I look so much heavier in our pictures from Sept. 2004 than I did in our Oct. 2003 pictures....I don't want to look even heavier in this years pictures! Plus, it will be so much easier to walk around all day long without all this extra weight! I'm just trying to eat smaller portions, eat a little bit healthier, drink more water and less soda, I want to start walking too...

I've lost about 45 lbs with WW, since January 2004, which is the best part. I've lost and gained a lot in the past, but this time, I've kept it off. Still amazes me!! I'd like to lose another 15 lbs or so by the time we leave on our trip. When we went last year, I was down about 35 pounds from my heaviest. So, I'd like to look even BETTER in my pictures!!

I dont usually gain weight while at WDW because I do so much walking while there. However we're headed down for a few days next month just to relax and swim. Im definately wanting to get some off for 2 reasons: 1) Swimsuit vacation ("nough said) and 2) we wont be walking everywhere, but we will be eating! URGGGG
