Also - who is going to be reading the new Harry Potter book in July? Because we might as well not do a book club book for 2 weeks after the new HP is released. I know I'll be reading it.

I think I'm standing in line for it, so I'll definately be in on HP! I like the theme idea. That way, if someone doesn't like a theme they can opt out. Maybe we can pick one "theme" and then one general novel (is that what you were suggesting?) per month.

Well I was thinking for suggestions I could say, "Okay this month we are going to read a historical fiction - so please make your reccomendations" and then we could choose from the list.

I thought I would bump this in case anyone thought of anything else to say about the book.

I didn't think it was a great book and certainly not one I will re-read.

Grrr. I just wrote a nice long POV on this damn book and lost it!

Well I wanted to know why the author didn't delve deeper into the characters' lives? I really liked some of the backstories but I want to know why and how Bernadette married her first husband's arch enemy? Did Prudie ever have an affair with the hot high schooler? What really happened with Grigg and his ex-gf? It's like she teased us with these good subplots but never expanded on them.

In the end, she did tie up some loose ends, but they were typical. Grigg and Jocelyn end up together. Bernadette marries someone like her. Allegra goes back to Corrine. Geez, this sounds more like real life - I can read endings like that here on the DIS.

Don't get me wrong...I did like the book. But I'm wondering - is this how Jane Austen wrote her books?

P/s What's the next book?

I HATED THIS BOOK!!!
I thought that the characters were unrelatable, it had nothing to do with Jane Austen, and it was a poor attempt at trying to write a book like the other book club books that are out such as "Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons."

I thought the book was only so-so. I did find myself becoming interested in the characters, but the plot just never really went anywhere.

So, what are we reading next? Anyone interested in reading Kite Runner?
