Question Please tell me about the ice cream social at The Garden Grill

Every year we go to The Garden Grill for dinner, but we are getting pretty bored of the menu because it doesn't change. We do however love the restaurant and we were going to take our girls to the ice cream social this year.

Would you suggest it? How much time should I allocate to do this? How much ice cream do they serve, should I make dinner PS's later because my kids will be stuffed with ice cream?

Please let me know what you think - Thanks

When we went there last October our PS was at 2:40. We arrived a few minutes early and had to wait about 15 minutes. The ice cream was great not one of us was able to finish. We were seated about 40 minutes. My kids still ate a good dinner. We ate at Marrakash (Spelling?) at 7:00 and we were hungry by then because we did not finish our ice cream. It was a great experience and we plan to do it next trip.

I took my 4 year old cousin to the ice cream social last May, and we both loved it. We arrived about 10 minutes early and had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated. The ice cream was served without much of a wait at all, and it was so yummy. The character interaction was great, as well. They each visited our table 3 times, much to little Lauren's delight. It was a great break on a sweltering hot afternoon, and I would definitely do it again.

What is the ice cream social? Is it new? We've eaten at the Garden grill for lunch and dinner before but that was last year.

We went to the Ice Cream Social for the first time in December and we LOVED it! The atmosphere was great and the character interaction was wonderful! DS asked Mickey where Minnie was and Mickey sat down and wrote a note to tell DS she was at Toontown. Really sweet!
They do give a lot of ice cream. The presentation is really nice too.

Look to the back and you'll see DS's (3) is different.
We went around 2:30 and ate dinner around 7ish. With all of the walking you'll do, I think you'll be ready to eat at your normal time.

Wow! That looks good. Do you get to choose your flavor of ice cream, or is it all vanilla?

That's exactly how it was when we went- I think they just make them all the same/no choice.

I love the Ice cream social there- it's a lot of fun and lots of character interaction. From about a 5 min wait till leaving it was about 45min all told. I would make dinner PS late for the kids though- mine weren't hungry for awhile after that. LOL

We did the Ice Cream Social on 12/27/04. We had a 3:10 PS and we did wait for more than a 1/2 hour before we were seated. It might have been because we were a party of 7. We had a great time though and the restaurant was nearly empty so the characters spent a lot of time with us! We did the 9:30pm HDDR that night so we were more than ready to pig out on ribs and chicken! I know they are not doing the ICS right now since The Land and Garden Grill are closed. I sure hope that they keep this event after they open back up again. I would have never known about it if it wasn't for these boards and it was a true highlight of our trip! Hope you get to participate!
