Are my boys (12,13,14) too old for a Disney cruise?

Hi,

We are looking to book a family cruise for 2006. I'd like to go on the 4-Day Disney cruise to the Bahamas, but I'm wondering if my three boys are too old (12,13,14.)

Do you think we'd be better off with a Carnival cruise?

Thanks for any advice,
Michelle

Heck no!!! My 12 year old will probably be asking to go on the Disney Cruise even after he is 18.

Absolutely not - my 14 year old niece LOVED it, and my 13 year old niece is very excited. They really do have a super teen program.

Talking I hope not!

I don't think so, we are awaiting our first cruise with Disney Christmas Cruise Dec 24-31, 2005. Our two boys will be 11 and 15 and they are pumped up! It seems they have lots for them to do, so no I don't think they are to old.

Maybe

All depends on the personalities and interests of your boys is my answer. They are by no means too old strictly on the basis of age, but comparing their interests to the available activities on-board for their age group is the only way to tell. We have loved our two DCL cruises, and have two more coming up in the next 90 days, but even at age 8, 9 in March, I can see where DS will be losing some level of interest soon. But that is him. I won't lose any interest. I do think I'll lose family members with whom to sail.

Hope your boys will want to go--that way you can.

Thanks for everyone's input. I REALLY want to go! The boys have never cruised before, so I think they will be excited just to go on one. I've ordered the Disney cruise video to show them before I go ahead and book it.

Thanks again!

I agree it depends on your children's interests. My DS's 15 and 12 love DCL. Some people have said that their children want more activities for teens and pre-teens, it all depends on your needs. If you are looking for a lot of high energy things to do, like some other ships (rock climbing, ice skating, etc.) this may not be for you.

I have been 15 and went on my first dcl cruise when I was like 11. Take them and they will love it. I also would never recommend carnival to anyone either. I wouldnt sail them if I was paid to. I am a total disney fan and always will be. Can wait to be working at WDI after college!

It really will depend on their personalities.

My ds was 11,12 and 13 on our cruises and he loved it and can not wait to go in 6-2006 on the Western. Everytime he sees a plane headed south, he gets a little depressed and remembers better times on the Magic and the Wonder!!!!

My 14yo DD emphatically insists that 12/13/14 is NOT too old for a Disney cruise.
