LOL. that was my first thought too and well, my second and third. I would have a very hard time relying on someone to get my luggage for me.

They are making it alot harder on people who do like to do other things beside WDW. I'm waiting to see if they come out with FOTL access like Universal.

Call me Henny Penny here, but I like to have my luggage in MY control during all aspects of my trips. I don't even like leaving it in storage at check out time, instead we load the car and drag it along. In this day and age, I trust NO ONE with my luggage and this "pick up" thing is adding more variables into the mix.

I admit I was leery too when I first read about it.
Agree, most likely multiple stops on one lareg bus, higher lost luggage risk.
IF it works properly, it would be great.
I always liked the town car way too. Even that has potential pitfalls. That always worked well for us. But there are horror stories out there about town cars guests too.
There will be some who Magical Express will work great for. And some who will be better off not using it. Just like any service.
Arriving to your room with your luggage already there would be grand.
And if it actually SAVES money as it claims, it will be a hit.
I would make sure to have what I REALLY need in a carry on -- just in case.

More options are always better IMHO.

My question is whether you can use the airline check-in and baggage service at the resort if you're not taking their shuttle. We always rent a car, but it'd be nice to have that done -- just return the car and go to security with our boarding passes and carry-ons in hand. Secondarily, could you use the in-airport resort check-in without taking the shuttle? I doubt that, and I really doubt you could have them transport your bags and not you (especially if you're arriving when there aren't many other passengers). The way it's worded, it's not very clear. I have sent e-mail to my media contact at WDW asking these questions, so if nobody hears by the time I do, I'll post his answers.

We will still be using Tiffany. I, too, like the direct, no hassle service. I do wonder, though, if this new service is incorporated in their new prices even though they say it is complimentary.

The press release says very directly that it's free during the 50th Anniversary celebration. My guess is, they'll use that time period to see how well it does and how people like it. I'm sure there will be survey questions asked about how much people would be willing to pay for the service. Then they'll adjust what they need to and start charging for it after that.

This sounds great! The airlines have lost my luggage (5 out of 5 pieces didn't make it from Tokyo!) so I hope it works!

I'm concerned about lost luggage, luggage not arriving on time, riding a Mears bus with multiple stops, and no grocery stop. I'd say the towncar folks will keep doing the towncar thing. Unless I hear lots of good reports I know I will.

at first i couldn't wait for this to take effect but now i realize that towncars are so much better, and this new plan is just going to kill their businesses..i really do feel bad for them.

I really doubt it's going to kill TC businesses.

I for one completely distrust Disney in arranging anything for me, especially after the ticketing mess, reservations mix ups, missing PS, putting the wrong name on my daughter's AP(... TWICE), double and triple billings fiasco I experienced on this past trip.

Besides, in the end Disney WILL charge something for the service. By stopping at the grocery store before going to the resort, I can save about 4 days of breakfast and my entire trip bottled-water money which easily totals around US$80.

The above savings alone makes TC service expenditure (including tip) down to only US$40, the lowest amount Disney will eventually charge for that service.

Not to mention you have the car to yourself and you'll be 100% sure that your luggages won't be slammed around further during loading and unloading to the and from the vehicle.

So gflad someone else addressed the MCO/OIA issue! I was about to freak out knowing I booked tickets to MCO and not quite sure where we would be going next week! Whew! Glad MCO = OIA

Isn't anyone else wondering how they cleared this with the FAA? The first question they ask when you check into the airport is "has your luggage been out of your control at any time since you packed?" Well, the obvious answer to that will be "yes". I can't see the airlines allowing this, but who knows. We will most likely fly Northwest and they aren't on the list. Also, we are headed over to Kennedy Space Center after our Disney time, so we will need a car anyway.
